It’s a beautiful gun. I don’t have any negatives to say against haenel. Mines a 30-06. I would just say though for the average punter like me, this is not the top of the bottom gun, it’s something I treasure. It depends on your perspective.
I've got the standard wood when they were still 6 lug bolts and came with fiber optic open sights. excellent rifle and the standard wood looks better with the plastic bits and parkerized barrel on the rifle, has a nice matte appearance, classic euro lines though.
I wish that woodgrade was available when I bought mine ! love that gun : light and very accurate with Norma Alaska and Oryx (.308), perfect stalking gun !
I have only heard great things of them. Two of my friends have them (the sr21 and the sr30). They are very well made and not that expensive. Also they have a good safety locking the fireing pin.
great video again guys, Off topic but what would be a better choice for a £500 shotgun, the Kofs Sceptre or the Webley and Scott 951? Also, you've done a video on game cartridges, how about sporting clays? keep up the good work
I don't know why Jaegers are not more popular in Canada? This is an attractive gun. Jon, could you let us know if the mag release and trigger guard is plastic or metal?
it's some form of plastic, have mine for some 5 years now and nothing wrong with it, not even a scratch on the plastic, doesn't bother me at all and is less noisy
So you said you can convert the 308 and 243 to a 10 shot mag. Is that an after market conversion kit or does haenel have them for sale. I for the life of me, can't find one online anywhere?
I have been using my 223 with the open sights, but out of interest is there a way to remove the blanks to fit a scope mount without causing any damage? I have been thinking about putting a scope on it , but will stick with the open sights if it causes any damage , I would probably want to put the blanks back in when not using a scope. Cheers
I love everything about it but the plastic. Such a shame when the rest of the rifle is gorgeous. Given the speed and accuracy of CNC machining now, I don't think there's any excuse not to use metal on a rifle like this.
stuart adair if I’m correct, John suggested to keep the rifle true to its classic lines a 42 mm scope would suit, but you can fit up to a 72 mm however this would obviously create an issue with not being able to place you face on the stock properly without a comb raiser and why would you want to put something on a stalking rifle that size, as for terrible rifle you do not say why or what else you could buy for that money.

Beautiful Jon. I’ve always been a walnut nut, and it would be great if every firearm were available with an optional wood upgrade.
Bloody lovely piece of kit. I'd spend hours just looking at the wood!!!

Good revue of a very nice rifle .
I want one now, I am Canadian and prefer the British style of hunting over American style.
Another great video. Could you please do a review on a Sauer S101?
Any chance you could take a look at the Heym bolt rifles?

He did a video on this, essentially he said that you should go to the used market not the new. It’s called what gun would I buy for 600 pounds

I heard that they are going to stop producing this model? is the new replacement going to be compensated in quality?

In a word. Nice
Wow! For 1500 pounds I get a plastic tigger plate? I will keep my money.
2:40 Uuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I do very much like the 3 lug bolt, easy to machine, works well, noice.
Old german engeniering!!
terrible rifle , just look at what you can buy for that money , and can only use a 42 obj scope ,
Why can you only use a 42mm scope?
