I liked it. I didn't come there to CARE about Carnage and Shriek's relationship. I just wanted to see Carnage fight Venom and that's all. I came to expect this and got everything I asked for.
And that the problem with today's audience: "I just wanted to see Venom vs. Carnage and I got it", "I just want big monke to hit big lizard and I got it", "I just wanted to watch big robots smashing each other and I got it". We're so cool with just getting the spectacle that we settle for the shittiest writing and saying that we shouldn't even have any real expectations from movies like that.
The no r18 rating didn’t really bother me as carnage has been done before with showing pg13 level stuff, the problem with this movie IMO was the runtime, it was TOO short for really anything to happen smoothly, they could’ve shown more carnage and action with venom but nope. Everything was badly chopped together
Everything about Shriek, origins and appearance, was unforgivably sabotaged and wasted. Not only was her actual background more depressing but she's designed diabolical and sexier. Because of Sony's incompetence again, we weren't able to enjoy the finer pleasures of life involving a sexy but evil villain. Oh, worst of all, she "dies" right before she could interact with Spider-Man and many other characters another way. I cannot understand how they've completely ruined this story and its characters before they've achieved their greatest potential.
Too many love interest in this film and Carnage wasn't as 'UNLEASHED' as he should have been. They have to kno0w by now that the 'true' fans of Venom wanted a rated R film. Violence, gore and mayhem, that's Carnage. The Carnage in this movie was not that. And the worst part of this film was that they KILLED CARNAGE! Really guys!? One and done? The only good thing about this that gives me hope is that THIS Carnage was not the MCU version. This was the film that was in production BEFOREHAND. Going forward we will see the MCU version.
The main issue right now is that marvel TV series have raised the bar so high for those movies to compete against and folks are far more invested in them. I bet if some smart ass at SONY comes up with a well crafted Venom animated series, It'd be much more better & successful than the movies combined.
I am so sorry to hear you fellas didn't enjoy the film and I know I probably will not like it either. I will still watch it eventually. Thanks for posting! I always enjoy your reactions and reviews
I agree. I mean the movie had a great premise, but it just didn't have that push that would have made it great. I enjoyed the action scenes as much as anyone else, but the story has to be written better to not focus so much on the action, but draw you in to a point where you want to know more.
Real talk I thought this movie was much better than the first one and actaually really enjoyable. Sure it was more comedy than the first, but damn if I didn't laugh my ass off whenever Hardy and Venom were interacting with eachother. Sure Carnage was toned down, but I think Woody Harrelson was still pretty fun in the role eventhough he was really hamming it up aswell.
Trying to figure out how its pulling in so much money when most honest reviewers not really saying anything great about it and are more excited about the end credit scene. But then again the Transformer movies keep making money too and the last 3 were crap.
because you gotta count the casuals who out weighs the fans or diehards because they don't go by reviewers , etc so that's why most films make money gotta get to the casual viewers and Venom is doing that .
I thought it was a fun, entertaining movie but they really did Carnage dirty. I thought the whole relationship with Shriek was cute but Carnage never felt scary or like holy shit how are they gonna stop him he’s too fucken strong and insane. Like he looked pretty cool and killed people really easily but the kills were fucken whack. It’s San Francisco, the home of the Zodiac Killer who terrorized the area for years. Had they made the movie take place over a few weeks or months and made Carnage a type of boogeyman that was terrorizing SF and the police and FBI were losing their shit trying to find him it would’ve been way more scary and thrilling. Even though I liked the comedy I would’ve preferred it be more thrilling. My biggest qualm with this movie is them killing off Carnage. Like can you imagine if they captured him and put him in Ravencroft then in the next movie or sometime down the line he breaks free and suddenly we have the Absolute Carnage storyline where he has a whole cult worshipping him and he has an army of symbiote drones. That would be fucken insane but nooooo they had to kill him so Venom could drop the only F bomb they were allowed because the haha funny man was more important than leaving the door open for an epic comeback. This also puts them in a corner cuz it looks like they’re gonna do Toxin next and in the comics he’s a “good guy” and in this timeline Venom is as well so who’s the villain gonna be? How do you create conflict between 2 good guys without it feeling super forced? 7/10 really fun but could’ve been done better
Not once in the movie did I question whether or not Carnage killed or did not kill someone. As far as I was concerned he killed well over 50 people in the film and I had zero hesitation about it.
Agreed with every single thing yall had to say. It was over the top with the humor. Felt out of place. Too short. When's the last time we've had a 90 min comic book movie?! Felt rushed. The mid credit scene was the only saving grace. I know people who loved the movie. To each their own
Enjoyed it ok, it felt like the 1st Suicide Squad where the characters and story are watered down versions from there comic book series. The way Carnage was killing guards should have left a bloody mess and I'm like yeah...ok but where's the blood?
@@christophermarabella5683 well apparently Venom is getting kicked back to his own universe in the No Way Home credit scene so it looks like they’ve set this up for nothing
@@Oregonman2011 I mean either way, Tom Hardy will be involved since he voices Venom. Plus that's clearly setting up a conflict between Spiderman and Venom down the road. Venom did mention a hive mind across all universes
I agree with the overuse of comedy. I feel like this movie was lacking in the sci-fi and horror the last one had. If anything this movie should’ve leaned more in the horror aspect than the last one.
I’m glad you both have your opinions. Me? I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. Now sure, I do wish it was longer and not 97 minutes. Approximately, that’s one hour and 37 minutes. It was rushed. But of course, the studio doesn’t really care much about sequel but more of the upcoming events after this movie. Which I am excited for. Other than that, if you both don’t remember, I will say this: Eddie Brock actually had a horrible background which Cletus pointed out which was that Eddie’s father hated him because when he was born, his mother died of childbirth and so because of that, Eddie grew hated and blamed by his father (shown and explained in VENOM: LETHAL PROTECTOR). On the other hand, Cletus pointed out his backstory which was also accurate to the comics. So I would say there is some references that are accurate to the comics. I just wish there had been more of Carnage and more seriousness. I do remember Shriek being the way she was in the movie as well as in the comics. Well at least in Maximum Carnage. Other than that, I enjoyed the film. I thought it was awesome. Just wish the studio was more caring and didn’t rush the production or shorten the film. But hey, at least we have something to look forward to🕷🕸
Coming from a guy that never read the comic books I was okay with this movie because I didn’t know what to expect from Carnage. I did see that they made him PG-13 and it did bug me a little, but again I’m not familiar with him.
You guys were so hyped for this movie too. I was and while I think it had some good moments like the action and carnage scenes, overall it was kind of underwhelming. Some of the comedy was good but there way waaaaaay too much when we could have got more Carnage and Venom or more insight into Cletus Kassidy building him up even more. Im just glad we got carnage on the big screen and the scenes he did have like the prison scene, pulling down helicopters, and the final fight. Its just underwhelming its your average B tier movie.
This movie was a big NOTHING burger. The script was lost in the late 90s/early 2000s, just like the first one. I've said it before & I'll say it again... Venom, CINEMATICALLY, does not work without Spider-man. The proof is how hype everyone got about the post credits scene... which was only hype because of Spider-man and the implications of Venom interacting with Spider-man... like we've all wanted from the beginning lol. It's just such a waste. I don't like this movie because I can easily see several better versions of this movie in my head lol.
If they were gonna bring spidey anyways, they could’ve saved carnage to show up later on and have venom and spidey team up against Carnage. Carnage being only in 1 movie is such a shame. Blew up the chances we could’ve seen with that character being showcased more. Or atleast dont have him die along with the symbiote 😭
I loved the movie. It was a 9/10 for me. But not everyone is gonna agree & that's fine. I loved the accuracy of Cletus's backstory & his relationship with Shriek. Tom Hardy as Eddie & Venom was good. The humor was hit or miss but not enough to ruin it for me.
I loved it as well 10/10 for me I feel like this movie is for people who enjoyed The Suicide Squad, Sam Raimi Spiderman and stuff like that Most of these ppl feel like Mcu fans who want Mcu gag jokes, theyll take it easy on Mcu movies but anything non Mcu will get bashed to death and every little angle of the story will be judged till they find something they dislike
There's nothing worse than a hyped-beyond movie becoming a letdown. I pray Spider-Verse 2 doesn't fall into the same trap. At the very best, at least Venom can become more whole and developed by being with Spider-Man.
It was dumbed down because Venom is going to meet spiderman, so things were toned down. I'm pretty sure that some of the movie got cut and got changed.
I never heard anyone mention it before but did Venom’s voice sound a bit off in this one? Like the added effects weren’t there and it just sounds like Tom Hardy doing a voice. Edit: What I mean is like his voice in the first movie was slightly changed from the trailers to actual film and I think they did it again but now it's much more noticeable as just deep voice Tom Hardy. It's not what I imagine when I hear Venom.
Sony Held them back, let them make a directors cut that's R-Rated (Zack Snyder Style), Re-Do Carnage's voice (DON'T KILL HIM) take shriek out. It'd be way better.
I agree with you both ..it lacked heart .seems as thought they cut out alot that would've made sense . .there was no danger .NO CARNAGE . i was disappointed and wanted to love it .I liked the first one alot . The End Credit scene is great . YES GO SEE IT FOR YOUR SELF .
The problem with this movie is that it isn’t rated R and it’s very short. It would have been amazing to see Carnage as a child killing off his family to see the backstory instead of some animation with a narration explaining it. The love story wasn’t anything to care for. His motive was to marry her more than it was to kill Venom. & that sucks. They needed to just have Carnage escape the prison and just start killing people left and right in the city. & that’s where Venom comes in to save the day and stop Carnage. Just a missed opportunity of what could have been one of the greatest marvel movies ever. But, I do enjoy this one more than the original.
I was expecting literal carnage and gore (in PG-13 standards I guess) but barely got any of that. Carnage is literally crazy but he just seemed like your regular ole villain.
The problem is that they do not follow the origin stories of the characters and comics? I understand that things "evolve" but if you do not know the comics version behind the characters and dialogue then things do not lay out the right way. Most people do not know the origin of Venom, it was not from space and not from a spider bite, neither was Carnage. The symbiote that would later be known as Venom was introduced in Secret Wars. A great deal many things came later in the comics after the character became a hit. Dialogue and writing are what attaches people to characters (just like with any book). Again, the comics came first? Then they started creating a backstory etc etc. Same with movies, the comics came first, in the comics they did not have CGI to turn your head away from a good storyline (sad). In the comics all you have is some ink and paper? So you have to write a good storyline. Stay true to the origin of things...your story will prosper? Maybe we need a Zac Snyder version of this?
I liked it a lot. Story was mediocore but it was such a fun movie. Also we saw carnage bite a priests head off, we saw shriek crushing an eye, we saw a tongue down a throat and we saw venom constantly get stabbed. The craziest thing we saw in venom one was someone getting his head bitten off. That’s it
For me personally Carnage was the best thing about this movie even though he didn’t kill a lot of people. Also I liked how when he threatened to kill Cletus’s girlfriend Shriek if she kept using her powers around him that was scary for me.But all in all I deeply enjoyed Venom:Let There Be Carnage!

Personally, I mildly enjoyed it. Wasn't better than the first, but not total crap. When I can even make it through the first 30 minutes of a movie then it's not crap. Most people can't even get past 5 minutes a then want to call something trash. At least you two aren't those type of people. I respect your feeling on it because of that. The post credits was the best part though. I hope Sony let's Marvel Studios help them with Venom so it can be the best of both studios. Can't wait for Spider-Man No Way Home.
Y'all hate the movie but honestly I love the movie. To me it had more action scenes and better cgi than the first one. So venom let there be carnage gets 8 out of 10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If the movie was at least one either R-Rated or at least 2 hours long, it would’ve helped so much. I did enjoy it, especially for that credits scene, but now that the hype went down, I really wish there was more. It felt cut down when I think about it now. Sony being Sony, that’s all I can say.
Review was pretty much on point for me. Not a Venom or Carnage fan, even though I was reading Spider-Man when the Secret Wars costume aka Venom originally came out, Back then it was pretty cool, how the uniform turned out to be an alien creature and a symbiote that created an impossible situation for Peter Parker. Then when it was cast off and it bonded with Eddie Brock, that was good stuff. Anyway, recently saw the first Venom on TV and it was about what I thought it would be: an okay watch. When this latest one was going to feature Carnage, I thought now this might be some exciting stuff! Couldn't be more wrong though. Fought sleep during much of the movie and while I enjoyed a few of the jokes and such, it was just a big blah for me. End credits scene was cheesy good as a promise towards bigger & better: we'll see. Anyway, enjoyed the review which is more than I can say for the actual movie.

The best way for venom to be introduced wouldve just been through spiderman and then a movie like this with both of them
Finally! Been waiting on this video. Thank u guys!
Carnage needs a re-do
Also Venom
About Shriek, if at least they could have her only being trapped under the 🔔 and not being killed, this would be a good thing but...
I liked it. I didn't come there to CARE about Carnage and Shriek's relationship. I just wanted to see Carnage fight Venom and that's all. I came to expect this and got everything I asked for.
Big facts. I didn’t give a fuck bout shriek
Totally agree atleast we did got that I just wish we got that rated R tho to be honest
@@MatiZ815 look at little Mati junior. Gonna cry?
@@brandonayala4605 Nah. I'm cool with just spectacle too. But I know we can do better than that.
The no r18 rating didn’t really bother me as carnage has been done before with showing pg13 level stuff, the problem with this movie IMO was the runtime, it was TOO short for really anything to happen smoothly, they could’ve shown more carnage and action with venom but nope. Everything was badly chopped together
The first review of a movie I'll ever listen to
Congrats
“Struggle pepper pots” 😂😂😂
M.Dogg... Your Analogy Was Spot On.... I'm Hearing Alot Of People Were Saying That It Felt Like Something Was Missing
13:43 that would be cool if a few years from now we had the Carnage Cut
I watched it and I actually liked it wayyyyyy better than the first movie. The way y'all felt about this movie I felt about the first
Too many love interest in this film and Carnage wasn't as 'UNLEASHED' as he should have been.
I bet if some smart ass at SONY comes up with a well crafted Venom animated series, It'd be much more better & successful than the movies combined.
making carnage pg-13 is like making the punisher pg. there wasn't near enough body count.
Movie was decent, and IMO better than the first one. Not the best, but worth it due to the mid credit scene.
I am so sorry to hear you fellas didn't enjoy the film and I know I probably will not like it either. I will still watch it eventually. Thanks for posting! I always enjoy your reactions and reviews
Thanks for the review guys. And I LOVE your Harley Funko in the background!
I agree. I mean the movie had a great premise, but it just didn't have that push that would have made it great. I enjoyed the action scenes as much as anyone else, but the story has to be written better to not focus so much on the action, but draw you in to a point where you want to know more.
I personally enjoyed the film! Carnage was badass! Yes, I do agree on one thing; it should’ve been Rated R.
I agree. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Especially the ‘Let there be carnage’ scene, that was dope!
nah frl venom and Hardy was hilarious
shit was funny af, people want some brutal dark deep carnage vs venom but thats not what is is, its a comedy, found it funny ash
Bumblebee was amazing
To each their own
Well at least the end credits scene was good😂
venom felt like a 3 hour movie and no time to die felt like a hour long movie, crazy the difference in pacing and editing.
Venom 2 needed 15 more minutes of story. It felt fast as heck but was a worthless movie.
Enjoyed it ok, it felt like the 1st Suicide Squad where the characters and story are watered down versions from there comic book series. The way Carnage was killing guards should have left a bloody mess and I'm like yeah...ok but where's the blood?
Then we wouldn't be able to have Venom crossover with MCU Spiderman
@@christophermarabella5683 well apparently Venom is getting kicked back to his own universe in the No Way Home credit scene so it looks like they’ve set this up for nothing
@@Oregonman2011 I mean either way, Tom Hardy will be involved since he voices Venom. Plus that's clearly setting up a conflict between Spiderman and Venom down the road. Venom did mention a hive mind across all universes
I agree with the overuse of comedy. I feel like this movie was lacking in the sci-fi and horror the last one had. If anything this movie should’ve leaned more in the horror aspect than the last one.
i didnt really mess with the sci fi horror from the last movie. I liked the fantasy type vibe from this one
Dude the sci fi horror from the last movies was boring af, the best part of the movie is when venom is on screen
There was no "overuse" of comedy.
You ONLY say that because you didn't like the comedy.
Well jeez my bad…😕
@@maxdrags3115 killyourself i liked all the jokes but they should not have been in this movie at all
I’m glad you both have your opinions. But hey, at least we have something to look forward to🕷🕸
Been waiting for this video for a few days now!
I expected them to say they liked it because they say that 99 percent of the time but they surprised me salute
Coming from a guy that never read the comic books I was okay with this movie because I didn’t know what to expect from Carnage. I did see that they made him PG-13 and it did bug me a little, but again I’m not familiar with him.
Same
I thought the one “fuck” they used was one of the best parts lol
Tom’s performance probably the best thing in the movie
You guys were so hyped for this movie too. I was and while I think it had some good moments like the action and carnage scenes, overall it was kind of underwhelming. Some of the comedy was good but there way waaaaaay too much when we could have got more Carnage and Venom or more insight into Cletus Kassidy building him up even more.
Im just glad we got carnage on the big screen and the scenes he did have like the prison scene, pulling down helicopters, and the final fight.
Its just underwhelming its your average B tier movie.
The film felt like someone forgot to hit play after hitting fast forward
It felt like a typical pre MCU comic book movie
The differnce between shang chi and venom
Venom: Sony
Shang chi: Marvel
I loved the movie. It was a 9/10 for me. But not everyone is gonna agree & that's fine.
I loved the accuracy of Cletus's backstory & his relationship with Shriek. Tom Hardy as Eddie & Venom was good.
The humor was hit or miss but not enough to ruin it for me.
I loved it as well 10/10 for me
I feel like this movie is for people who enjoyed The Suicide Squad, Sam Raimi Spiderman and stuff like that
Most of these ppl feel like Mcu fans who want Mcu gag jokes, theyll take it easy on Mcu movies but anything non Mcu will get bashed to death and every little angle of the story will be judged till they find something they dislike
I'm pretty sure Carnage made the same growl noise a raptor made in the first Jurassic Park movie.... that's where it ended for me.
I haven't seen it but I haven't got high expectations after venom 1 let me down
There's nothing worse than a hyped-beyond movie becoming a letdown.
Not going to lie, that end credits scene REALLY rattled my brain there.
This one had way more continuity than the first one
Hopefully there will be a extended unrated edition when this film comes out on dvd
It’s funny how carnage’s love story
felt copied from the movie
“natural born killers”
also starring woody H.
YES GO SEE IT FOR YOUR SELF
.
Problem is yes its not rated R but the story is weak. Sorry a rating can't help this movie alone. Slap a R rating on this you have Hellboy.
@@hamhockbeans Thank you.
Yo... I absolutely wholeheartedly agree with all you guys said man.. I was bored for MOST of the movie, no joke.. Great review btw man..
She was annoying I was like carnage go ahead
@@tristanmireles8994 and the funny thing about it is you would think she’d know better after he warned her the first time, but she couldn’t help it and that’s what got her dumbass killed! Lol 😂
@@rufusdavis137 yeah 😂
So venom let there be carnage gets 8 out of 10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I thought Cletus was a little cheesy at first, like a 6th graders idea of what a serial killer is like, but carnage was hard af
You can blame Sony for that they afraid to have it R rated, cause they want it a family movie
I enjoyed the movie, but I can understand why people didn't like it
“He like slap two people and the movie is over” 😅
I meeeean it entertained me Lol I knew I was gonna get more of the same jokes and shit as the last one. The movie shoulda been Rated R frfr
If you guys are saying the movie is bad, then it MUST be bad. Because even though I wasn't really feeling the first Venom, you guys had some positive things to say about it still. I'm still going to see Venom 2, but I'm actually kind of nervous to find out how bad it is with my own eyes.
FYI This Movie HAD To Be PG-13 In Order For Venom To Transfer Over To The MCU
Bro idk I guess I’m the black sheep but I loved this movie. I also kinda thought Shang chi was ok at best
Venom 2 was an awesome movie, the short time didn’t mess it up for me and loved all the action and acting
Please be joking...
It should have had like 20-30 minutes more.
@@maxdrags3115 : no I’m being honest, I was worried about the time but it surprised me and I very much enjoyed it. It was better than the first

I loved it, everyone wants Venom in the MCU but MCU doesnt make violent movies. Cant have your cake and eat it to. You want violent venom, thats fine, but its not going to MCU
i felt like venom was like how incredible hulk was to the first 10 years of the mcu.
the problem is that they are trying too hard to make venom a good guys when he needs to be more ruthless
End credit scene was better then the entire movie

That movie was dope. I'm shocked they disliked it
