    I've used Ramshot for years and really like it. When it first came out (made in Montana?) I bought 3 cases. So, I'm still shooting the original powder and maybe it's formulated differently now. It was so new, I called and worked up 7mm-08 loads using TAC for my daughter's rifle when we were going to Africa. It consistently shot small groups and obtained 100 fps more on the average than any other powder I tried. I just got thru using TAC in my .358 Win using 200gr Horn RN bullets. I shot a whole bunch of 5&6 shot groups. All 1/2" t 3/4" 100yds.

      I've used a little bit of TAC before and it shot pretty well. I think it was the first power I reloaded with.

      I used a few pounds of RamShot ZIP. Very low charge weights ( have to be wary of the double , or close squeezing a triple charge 💥)
      Along with very high pressures. But it always seem to go bang🤷🏻‍♂️

      I've never tried Zip but that sounds like #2 or Titegroup. Easy to double charge, very low weights, etc.

    Well den,,,, I just bought a pound of X Terminator today on an impulse of the cheap price and reading that it would be suited to .222 Remington. I have not researched this powder prior to the purchase. Disappointing to see your first groups and to hear that it’s sensitive to cold temps since most of my shooting takes place in the winter. I’m gonna give it a go on .222 with 50 grain Speer PSP bullets working up to right around 3100 FPS, according to good accuracy that is, and see what happens.

      Yeah, pretty lack luster performance, but I probably need to kick them up in velocity. Maybe they need to "wake up"?

  • @DisgustedGenXr

    “My dog at my homework”. It was windy. Barometric pressure was pulsing, full moon during the day, spiraling winds, barrel shrunk in the cold squeezing bullets into the lands. Cold warping scope...... that’s why you had flyers😂😂😂😂😂

    I just loaded those projectiles for the first time, too. I have to say, they worked great near mid-way up the ladder for Tac and XBR. Even better near the top of varget.

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  2 года назад +1

      Awesome to know. I figured they just need a little more oomph to wake up. I was starting way low to save some powder, but if it doesn't shoot then no use. Thanks!

    For me CCI Magnum primers do well with the double base ball powders. But I suppose any magnum primers would do the job. Back the charge back down just a touch if you try it.

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  2 года назад

      Yep, I've got a few different types I can try. I have had hang fires in 450bm using the CCI 450 magnum primers, but only at low charge weights. Seems like as the case filled up I got a better burn.

    • @AverageHouseHusband
      @AverageHouseHusband 2 года назад

      @@DummyRoundHuh, I have never had a problem with Magnum primers, I would have thought it was a weak primer strike if it didn't only happen with low charge weights. My experience with 450 primers was in a 5.56 chamber with 70 grain soft points and LeverEvolution. Got me 1/2 moa I was happy. I Have some Xterminator I was going to try with 6-1/2 primers and 55 grain. Would be interesting if I run into the same issue with consistent burn

    Yoooo. Whats up. Just tried a cup of vinegar with soap and lemi in my wet tumbledoor on some 9mm the were flooded in salt water (1foot of water in my dad room swfl). Had tumble them for hours and wrote them iff as scrap.
    Let me tell you, it is on par with the best result I’ve seen in normal brass.
    I got my 1100 9mm
    Done this week (1000 was the goal)
    Also found some nickel 5.56 cases. That’s the delay in shipping 😂

    A 'flyer' or 2 in every group...could that equate to variances in Berry's bullets? I use Berry's .456 230 grain (P) bullets for my 45ACP and those are pretty good shooters. I have not tried their .224 55 grain bullets. Looking forward to seeing more testing with these bullets.

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  2 года назад +1

      I'm not sure if it's the bullets or if we just need to find the right powder charge. I'm on the way low end so going to kick it up and see if will straighten out some of those groups. If I can get both guns to shoot an inch and a half I'll be satisfied, but right now they aren't on the same page.

  • @DisgustedGenXr

    I use mostly Accurate/ Ramshot. Always lowest grains of powder with highest chamber pressure. Usually followed by living in the higher spectrum of fps

    Excuse, it's the junk bullets. Try using Ramshot load data, 22.4grs is the starting load not what yours are.

    • @DummyRound
      @DummyRound  Год назад

      Probably the cheap bullets, but they're not specifically Hornady's. Using the 55gr Hodgdon data, who now owns Ramshot, they start as low as 21.2 and go to 25.9gr. I need to learn to shoot and keep testing higher with these. They seem to be "asleep" and might need kicked up a bit faster. Thanks.
