    Dillon should NOT get his penalty reduced. The move he made was an obvious, I'm crashing them to win, no matter what happens action. His spotter should still be suspended for three if not more races. Encouraging Dillon to crash another competitor is simply the worst case of unsportsman like behavior. RCR continuing to state that they don't agree with the penalty is a real turn off and I now consider RCR an unprofessional organization that has lost ALL my respect. I’ve watched the replay of this on track and in car, and it looks bad on track until you watch in car and then the on track makes more sense if you’re not biased. You roll to the Wall like Hamlin did to maintain speed, but when you’ve blown the corner like Dillon did to get to Logano straight line speed is faster than driving up the track to reach the finish line. Dillon didn’t have but just a split second to react to Hamlin feeding his car up the track, Dillon basically already had his nose pointed straight Hamlin had his nose going right. The only two options Dillon had was to lift or drive through Hamlin. He drove through him to win.

However, the film stops and the lights come on and you think the movie is finished. You leave thinking you know how the movie ended, but 3 days later, the theater informs you that they forgot to run the entire movie and they tell you how they have decided how the movie really ended instead of what you saw on the screen. But a week after that, you find out that the movie's ending was again modified and at the end of yet another week, the movie ending could once again be modified for the 'final' time. There would be a lot of confused movie fans of course choosing sides with the way they preferred for the movie to end. Bottom Line: If this was the normal occurrence for going to the movies, how many movie tickets would you purchase? Secondly, how long would you last before you chose another form of 'Entertainment'? I'll try to have a case for Austin Dillon.
    Dillon's move for the win at Richmond is unprecedented only because it resulted with 2 separate incidents followed by a win in a span of one corner, which has no direct comparison to any other incident in the past. However, breaking apart the events that unfolded as separate incidents gives us precedents that we can use to determine the actual penalty:
    Incident 1 (Intentionally wrecking the leader for the win with a dump): Should be no penalty since 2022 Darlington Logano vs. Byron was not issued a penalty.
    Incident 2 (Intentionally right-hooking a driver): Should be a 1 race suspension for the driver as 2023 Charlotte Elliott vs. Hamlin and 2022 Las Vegas Wallace vs. Larson resulted with Elliott and Wallace being suspended for 1 race.
    Incident 3 (Winning the race and passing post-race inspection): Dillon is a full-time driver and has attempted every start this season and therefore, qualifies for the playoffs. No driver under these circumstances was stripped of being playoff eligible.
    I'll also bring up the case of Hail Melon as it was considered an "unprecedented" move. NASCAR did not have a previously enforced ruling on wall-riding, so Chastain was not penalized whatsoever for the move. And because it wasn't enforced previously, it wasn't penalized. Similarly, if Dillon's manner of winning is considered unprecedented, then unprecedented rulings (taking away playoff eligibility and even being docked 25 owner and driver points) shouldn't take place. Otherwise, we might as well not have rules exist. The way NASCAR handled the Hail Melon was perfect, and it should be the same regarding Dillon's win.
    Verdict: Dillon gets suspended for 1 race but keeps points and playoff eligibility

    • @thesidecharacter6499
      @thesidecharacter6499 21 день назад +1

      Funny enough, if NASCAR were to enforce this penalty instead and Dillon actually serves the one race suspension, then Dillon would no longer meet the "attempt every race" rule for playoff eligibility, which means Dillon and RCR would have to apply for a playoff waiver... and NASCAR would most likely not grant that waiver

    Somebody may have already addressed this, but how could they possibly give Dillon the playoff spot now when they’ve already run a race with the penalty put in place. Wouldn’t that affect peoples Michigan race strategies that were on the cut line as to whether or not they are racing for points or racing for a win based on where they are with Austin Dillon not in the playoffs? I just don’t see how you could possibly shuffle the playoff standings now after teams have already made race decisions based on where they stood after the penalty..

    If you want NASCAR, the teams, the drivers, the broadcasting partners and the manufactures to collaborate on something then they should be collaborating on things like fan access, getting a news program like “Race Hub” back, having drivers doing live streams on RUclips, and and streaming every NASCAR race in 4K UHD with the highest refresh rate possible such as 60 or 120 Hz so we, the fans, get the best viewing experience at home that is currently possible with current streaming technology. F1 and F2 have been available in 4K UHD for years now. However NASCAR should be doing officiating on its own without any outside influences whatsoever.

    Not sure what to tell you if you cant grasp the fact that some penalties will take time to review and issue in a sport that not only allows, but promotes, contact. Almost every top-level motorsports series I watch addresses some penalties "after the race", after time has been taken the review the individual situation in more detail and given the amount of contact NASCAR allows, I see this being more pronounced in NASCAR. Just saying something because it's what you are hearing most on social media doesn't help to critically analyze the situation. I wish NASCAR would stop worrying so much about what "the fans" want and just focus on doing what's best for the sport. The loudest fans complaining are the one who aren't in it for the long haul and won't be around in 5 years. I say lose the 10% who are pissing and moaning all of the time and just go on about your business but then again, I watch for the competition and could gives 2Fs about "driver personality" and generating fake drama around the sport.

    This is a huge and important decision. You said it yourself, millions of dollars represented. NASCAR makes its ruling which should be at the track. The team decides to appeal or not within 24 hours. NASCAR and the team layout their respective positions the appeals board makes decision. Actual rules quoted and argued and the board decides. The "line" was crossed is a bulls$$t answer. If you can't sit down and show me what rule and how the rule was broken. Laziness by the teams has allowed this appeal process to continue.

Will someone please acknowledge that in the replay, you can see Hamlin is losing his rear end and could have ( key word could have ) hit Dillon IF dillon doesn't take evasive action and move down there could have still been contact by Hamlin losing control of his car? IMO NASCAR has kind of opened a can of worms with this ruling. If they are taking away any points and pulling him from the playoffs why let him keep the win? Wrong is wrong…right? Was it a crap move by Dillion. Absolutely. Have other drivers dumped others for the win. Absolutely. So the next time Denny or Joey or anyone else for that matter dumps someone they get penalized the same right? I mean a dump is a dump no matter how hard or slight the contact. You still purposely turned the guy for the win. The only real gripe I have is this call should have been made right after it happened. Not three days later.
