So great to enjoy your camping. I’m in Texas College Station/Bryan areas. I’m 83 and spent many years camping with kids and grand kids. Hug the old men. Just love you guys.
If you put a thick comforter or pad down they would probably lay down more. It looks like they get knocked around the whole trip and that doesn't look like enough padding.
Actually the sled just needs springs so it can balance out over all of the bumps, just like the jetski at 6:34 has springs, and you can see the sled has no springs to absorb the unbalance of the snow
There are storage containers for mason jars (try googling "canning safecrate" though there are other brands, I believe). We use them for when we are camping and haven't lost a jar or even the seal on a jar when we use them.
When you say bumps, I don't think many non snowmobilers realize just how bad the bumps/ruts are...and they just keep getting deeper with more traffic. Thanks for the video, thumbs up for the dogs.
Wow there Bud, that new black lantern has a wick, that means oil, not fuel. Fuel is for pump-up Coalman lanterns that use fuel to start mantel/little boot sock. You need lamp oil in the Black one. Good idea to always start a lantern on the outside of the cabin, just in case.
Enjoyed watching your trip. Connie and I just got back from our cabin two days ago. For the pike maybe you might want to try fishing near the outlets or inlets to the lake and see how you do there. Might not be as convenient for watching from the cabin but perhaps a better chance of catching something. As far as I am aware, those wick type lanterns are not made for blazo type fuels. The lanterns are made for kerosene or lamp oil as a fuel. The Blazo is like an extra refined gasoline and is made for pressurized appliances such as the Coleman type (non propane) stoves and lanterns. Lanterns similar to your propane lantern in this video are made to be filled with liquid fuel and pumped up to pressurize. Those are the type of outdoor appliances that use the Blazo fuel. Thumbs up on the video.
I came back to this video on my pc to share a similar comment about the fuel. That fuel is way to volatile for a wicking lantern. If the fuel reservoir heats up enough it could ignite. Please be safe and don't use that fuel in that style lantern. Love the videos!
You want to take care if you decide to go for the inlets or outlets because they have a current and the ice is a lot thinner. The fuel is white gas used by Coleman and other brands. Be safe .Cheers
I HAD to press Pause as you were pouring fuel from the can to the lantern. Even with a funnel, move the lantern to the edge of the table. Gently pour with the spout at the high end of the top (as you tilt it), not at the bottom. This will allow air to flow in easily to displace the liquid as it pours out, eliminating the "glug glug" that splashes the fuel out in gushes that are difficult to control. This technique applies to anything that you pour from a can with only one small opening, but especially where the top of the container is relatively large. My heart rate is down now so will return to the video...especially since I've now realized that you are OK or the video would not have dropped. Love you guys. Wearing my Bear Cub shirt today... JM
Use bubble wrap around the jars then towels. Bubble wrap helps to insulate stuff also. Get some flashing an use it behind the lantern to reflect the light back/around. That's why they used wall sconce's that had a steel/tin back plate's. Get one of those tool boxes that go in the truck bed so you can keep dishes , pots, pans and stuff in it. Mice can't chew into it. Poor fur babies were tired and cold. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and healthy. God bless

I was laughing my head off when I saw you struggling with it. It was so funny to watch. I grew up with those lanterns. Cleaned the glass each evening so we can get that bright light. Very efficient when there is no electricity which was often.
Eric and Ariel, Nice job on the restoration of the Griswold cast iron pan. Griswold is one of the best cast iron cookware brands you can find. Taken care of, they will last for any years and centuries. They are truly an heirloom piece of cookware. FYI, you should only use lamp oil in the Dietz. That fuel you have is for the Coleman pressurized camp lights and stoves. Camping fuel burns much too hot for the oil lamp and can cause premature wear on the glass chimney and wick base, also you will burn through wicks much faster. Another great video. Really enjoy your adventures to the cabin, and the hot springs were cool too!

Hard boiled eggs are good for active, hard working dogs. Good protein that really carries them. Did this for snacks on long cold or hunts. They loved them.
When you get the proper fuel for your lantern, you can add a reflector. Aluminum foil will work. Mirrors work great. Can also be used with candles. Glad everything worked out and the lantern and no accidents. Coleman makes great camp stove that uses the "white gas".
I agree about the lamp they are called in New Zealand a hurricane lamp and are fuelled with kerosene Also keep the wick down low as too not blacken the glass whith soot. Enjoy great cabin and environment Cheers Allan.
I used to have a cabin when I was a youngster. I had a small tin heater I would take out the ashes and put diesel fuel in it. I could take a ash shovel a put some ash in the stove put kindling and it would light real easy. Worked well
I love the music you selected for this video. I also loved the embrace and hug Arielle gave Eric. You rarely exhibit affection but this was sweet. Really a good video.
Reusable silicone "ziploc" style bags. There are different grades and sizes but this idea is the same. Strong, long-lasting, some are easier to clean but all of them are safe to clean at high temperatures, even sanitizing. They are thicker so take up a tad bit more room than usual plastic bags -- the trade-off is they are harder to puncture or tear. On Amazon, a highly rated budget set is $17, but the free-standing style is easier to fill and clean which are more. For anyone who doesn't want to deal with washing these, Amazon Basics has _the_ best deal on ziploc style bags that are as good as the brand name (I reused mine 3 or 4 times for dry foods).
Use lamp oil and keep the wick turned down. Keep the wick trimmed evenly for even burning. I was taught by my Nana who lived in the rural Kentucky mountains when she was young. They had no electricity and had to use oil lamps. Love the videos!
I totally didn't notice, they are an equally attractive couple, I think, which rarely happens. Even the dogs, one is hyper & hilarious, the other chunky and snuggly. They all bring something to the table. Love watching them. Pure escapism.

JM
Y’all are cute...”this is my kinda fishin here today”...so agree with you... I always love finishing from a lawn chair on the bank...lol
In 35 seconds in when she whispered in your ear then hugged you so tight… that’s love ❤️
Hi guys! We love your videos. We started at the beginning & we have caught up. Thanks for sharing! We love what you have done
God bless
You guys are great! I love see your relationship irl, you know the day to day. One of the best part was Arielle ‘stealing’ the coconut milk when Eric is cooking and he shoos you away... very funny and relatable. You guys have a beautiful family pups included. Thank you for the video and may God bless you and your family. 😁❤️
Hey guys… Always enjoy so much spending time with you… I love your adventures to your Lakeside cabin… I couldn’t figure out what was different about Eric and then it dawned on me that he’s clean shaven!… It is a good luck! … can’t wait to see what it looks like in the summer with no snow around and get the lay of the land!… You guys make me wish I were 50 years younger and just starting out! I find you both very inspirational and as always I love the way you two work together and get along!.... sending you tons of love from the bay area!❤️
GUYS! Condensed milk is amazing if you want sugar in your coffee!
Thank God somebody mentioned sweetened condensed milk because it is the best and you get everything in one God bless you all
I was thinking the same Vietnamese style coffee 👍🏾
You can also make a simple caramel from it :)
I saw the condensed milk and thought of my MOM's rice pudding. Ciodensed milk is delicious in coffee.
@@shaetasstic my grandma used to boil condensed milk in the tin and it made the most delicious thing ever - dulce de leche. She then stuffed it in a crumbly sugar cookie shaped like a walnut. BEST. SWEET. EVER!
I was laughing my head off when I saw you struggling with it. It was so funny to watch. I grew up with those lanterns. Cleaned the glass each evening so we can get that bright light. Very efficient when there is no electricity which was often.
Lol don’t forget the viewers worry more about the dogs than yourselves, Beautiful county ☮️
Well yeah... dogs rely on humans for their health and safety. Humans can and should take care of themselves
Can’t wait till it’s summer and you can show us around
Living in Georgia USA, I want to live your life someday. We all take for granted the things we have. If we all could live like this for a while, we would appreciate the life we have.
Thank you for showing us real life!!!
I’m thinking of a pulley system ? Snowmobile going one direction, while pulling the supplies up the hill.
Ditto, I was thinking about that the last video here!
Omg such a good idea
They did think of that...but they used people power instead.
Use the old winch you took off the Polaris, but I guess you’d need a battery or hook up to snowmobile for it to work. I know just enough about this to be dangerous.
The two of you remind me of the Sackett family in Louis L"Amour's western novels. You would have been quite comfortable living back in pioneer days, you are an amazing couple, so resourceful.
I wanna live your life for a month! Bet I couldn't! Heehee...love watching it though, y'all know that! ☮️ Peace and love 💜 from Kimberly in South Dakota 💙❤️
Hi Eric, Ariel, it is a blessing that I got a chance to see your vlog. You inspired me and my wife a lot to work harder. We live in Calgary, Alberta, we thought it is so cold here but....Alaska is colder I think ( never been there yet). keep the action goin' , stay safe...we love you guys.
Try the Condensed milk Over low heat, simmer 3 hours or until thick and caramel colored, you can make a batch of dulce de leche
I love to watch u couple doing gardening and other choars togather in simple living life....keep it up👍
I luv your travel vids , amazing visuals and always appreciate the drone shots as well ... Bo is such a Rockstar hahaha ... cheers from the west coast of Canada .
Lolol This is my first time here and when you said you guys were taking a break, the mushers went by and you were saying u were giving your dogs a break. I though from mushing but NO they've got they're own little cozy limo for the ride. Lol Very cool....
That fuel is intended for colman lanterns or colman stoves
Hard boiled eggs are good for active, hard working dogs. Good protein that really carries them. Did this for snacks on long cold or hunts. They loved them.
They make metal type mirrors that make your lantern brighter. We had one that fit our old 1930s lantern but when we downsized it sold.
When you get the proper fuel for your lantern, you can add a reflector. Aluminum foil will work. Mirrors work great. Can also be used with candles. Glad everything worked out and the lantern and no accidents. Coleman makes great camp stove that uses the "white gas".
This is one of the best videos I've seen from you.
Cant wait for part 2!!! The views are amazing. You two are about the luckiest people in the world! God bless you both
Lol a bath in coconut milk while watching sponge bob sounds great!
@Simple living Alaska I’m in Anchorage:)
I agree about the lamp they are called in New Zealand a hurricane lamp and are fuelled with kerosene
Also keep the wick down low as too not blacken the glass whith soot. Enjoy great cabin and environment
Cheers Allan.
Good evening from East Africa 🌍, its 8.21 pm here
Love how RUclips makes the world so much smaller. It’s noon in the Comox Valley, Vancouver Island, Canada.🇨🇦
I used to have a cabin when I was a youngster. I had a small tin heater I would take out the ashes and put diesel fuel in it. I could take a ash shovel a put some ash in the stove put kindling and it would light real easy. Worked well
When the bears break in, the first thing they will say is ... damn, where's the sugar!
I have never seen ice fishing , up close. Love the line holders.
I love the music you selected for this video. I also loved the embrace and hug Arielle gave Eric. You rarely exhibit affection but this was sweet. Really a good video.
Good lesson learned on filling and lighting a gas lamp. You Guys are living the life,
Reusable silicone "ziploc" style bags.
Eric looks like a teenager without his mustache!
Thanks.. I could not for the life of me figure out what was different about him...:)
I totally didn't notice, they are an equally attractive couple, I think, which rarely happens. Even the dogs, one is hyper & hilarious, the other chunky and snuggly. They all bring something to the table. Love watching them. Pure escapism.
You are blessed in so many ways I don't need to list. I bet you would be a great in a couples survival show.. Sure winners! Thank you for all your blood and sweat, great cinematic content especially your openings and closings. I am 70 now but at one time I wanted to visit Denali, and settle near there.
I feel like Bo doesn’t have too many more of the big trips in his future...that ride is pretty tough on the dogs.
The beginning of this video made me weep...so beautiful
