This motherboard reminds me of newer vehicles. A ton of cheap metal/plastic covering everything that never needed to be covered for no discernable reason. God forbid you see a capacitor when you open a computer or a valve cover when open the hood of a car???
i would like to thank you for all of your videos, i have gained so much knowledge from watching your videos and was very successful in building my first pc.
Oh just a tip or the older stuff for those complaining about not knowing what ROG branded motherboards are what team. And some quick tricks will have the numbers make a little bit of sense. Asus ROG Maximus = Intel. Asus ROG Crosshair = AMD.
Just looked this motherboard up on Scan, its £659 but what's funny no mention of the screen on the spec...lol. Love watching your videos so thanks for this. Chris
And now you can clearly see, partially, why these X670 boards are so stupidly expensive. The VRM package is pretty... but so unnecessary for a desktop CPU. You would think you were meant to put a Threadripper in there.
Today i rebuilt from my old Case a Cougar MX330 to my new One an Aerocool Graphite v3 the new case is just WOW and very easy to build in also i have now a new Powersuplie a AeroCool 750w Bronze full modular and its very nice so far.
That is an exercise in total crap. I prefer the days when the motherboard is locked in a solid case and we worry about the specs of the board. This idea of psychedelic lights on a motherboard is for people who like to spend lots of money on shinny things. Of course that entire computer is overkill. Or maybe I am wrong, is that a super computer from NASA?
I agree with you about function over form. I come from the days when computers were designed entirely for their function, and then hidden out of sight. Nobody thought about putting pretty lights inside. Whether the computer is overkill is more debatable. If you want to play games or run flight simulators etc at the highest possible spec, you do need some beefy computing.
Custom builds with no RGB or window are also popular on the custom scene. Entirely personal preference. Likewise, if you don't need a lot of horsepower, you can buy low-cost low-power components. Great thing about custom builds is you can make your build whatever you like 👌
If the opportunity comes up, I will. It's really tough to do software stuff though, genuine interest stuff happens on customer laptops, and customer laptops are extremely hard to record videos on while protecting privacy.
Adamantit i need your help, i have the rog crosshair x670e extreme and ive scuffed up the lcd screen that tells the code thats right above the gpu, can i order another one from asus, and is it difficult to replace? How do i contact to order it?
I have this board and I scratched by polymo panel when changing the graphics card, was so angry. Do you have a part number or something so I can consider ordering them myself? As another commenter has said, leave the protective film on permanently these things damage so easily.
That gamer must have been filthy rich. Anyway, I was wondering why mobo manufacturers set up the memory slots up and down as airflow blockers. Why won't the mobo manufacturers set up the memory slots going left and right for better airflow in general, and better cooling for the memory sticks?
My polymo screen stopped working. After using the computer for about a week the lights just got dimmer and dimmer and then just fully went out. Not sure what went wrong, but I'm going to try getting a replacement mobo in its place. :"(
It was doing a long memory train after switching XMP back on. At that point we'd figured that it was just being slightly fussy, so I opted to just do the video outro so I could switch off the cameras. The hero shot where all the RGB is on blue was done after we'd straightened it out again and it had booted up 👌
I really like the way they designed that panel, but I hate that there is no way to customize the effects. I like the "ROG" effect, but I really don't like the "HERO" effect. It seems like they spend about ten times as much money advertising Armoury Crate as they do actually developing it.
is there a plastic film over new part. please dont remove. help to keep it damage free for quite a while. mine started to frey after 1 year on 690 Maximus XIII.
@@NotThatGuyJD Yeah I thought so as well, was able to narrow it down: PC-X2000FN Very cool, shame they don't make them anymore. Love Lian li's older line up.
shame we didnt see the affect when switched on first to compare the dink?....expensive bit of kit though so probably worth replacing! waiting for the "Naa run a road roller over it, be fine!" comments🤥
pretty shoddy engineering on Asus's part considering how much these boards cost... won't account for damage to fragile components, cables and connectors all over the place instead of contact pads or simple connector to connector locking for the RGB functionality. I guess stupid, clueless customers will buy anything marketed for "overclocking" despite the fact that most modern CPUs don't overclock at all.
Never understood this stuff. If Asus would pay me for advertising their product with crap like this then fine. Otherwise, tear it out and sell the board cheaper.
This computer repair was the physical representation of first world problems 😆

The VRMs on that board... That thing truly sends power.
How nice the thermal pads just lifted off and stayed put. I guess it helps that the build is only a few months old.
Beast of a PC, great video loved it.
Sir Lord Adamant. Gotta love it!
Fantastic hair Neth
That happens to me and i just put a sticker on it lol ....

Zenith = AMD hedt

It's not a screen it's a panel

Incredible video.
Props to the owner of this board for wading through the slog that is ASUS Customer Support
Graham looking like Papahl from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.
At first glance i thought this was some sort of mini atx until you pulled the brick out :D
brilliant work on a powerful pc!

Hello, were do you get the Polymo panel please ? Mine don't work either and I want to change it.

had some lovely shots of up your nose in this video LOL
What interests me is the downwards facing camera you are using as you looked at the motherboard, it's a very clear picture with very good auto zoom.?
IIRC it's the Logitech Brio 4k
@@MeneGR I thank you, much appreciated.
No camera wobble 👍
hey Adam get vid thank you for sharing
it'd be also good if you can help check if the 12vhp is connected securely to reduce risk of melting connectors
Cool video again! 👍👍
Can you maybe make more software service videos I like them very much!

@@Adamant_IT ok I get that.
Hello, thank you for the video. Where can we find this panel?
Well at least with AM5 you don't have to worry about ripping out the CPU with the cooler.

AM5 O_O well done to the customer, should have watched more of your videos.
Hello
Could you please tell me where I can order the same Polymo panel?

You must have recorded this before last Saturdays live stream either that or your hair has grown 3 inches in 6 days!
I wonder if you applied a bit of heat to the indent if it would come out ?

I noticed it was still showing code 42 after you repaired it which represents unstable memory. Does that mean it can still be a problem?

What are the dimensions of the polymo screen? Maybe we can remove it and place an LCD on the position of it.
Nice video!
this shit polymo is annoying
a very expensive brick as well Graham LOL
Exactly same rig as mine only difference am using a different PSU and my cooler is a noctua dh15 and my case is a phanteks enthoo evole x
Its so new lol. I just saw my first broken 12th gen intel the other day.

Hi good day. Do you, do data recovery on android phones?
The brick needs a custom power cable that adapter is extremely ugly.
Honestly I expected to hear it cost a couple hundred for the part. Lucky they were able to get it.

Look at Graham always peeling the customers stuff 🙄
Did you just wake up boss?
What case is that on the desk to your left? Looks very tall and interesting. I don't recognize it hmm!
One of the old Lian Li cases. Was a podcast where he built the system into it. Can't remember the model name anymore.

That is some motherboard and system. Afraid to ask how much this baby would of cost to put together.
no worries that'll buff right out oops
That computer is worth more than my car so 55 pounds is well worth the money.
👍
cool
Wow. I want to Build Computers.
I luv ASUS but hate Armoury Crate, LOL
That's a ridiculous pricetag for a colour changing LED lightshow.
With ddr5 slight little nudge I mean slight it will cry like a little baby
Chapters?
Just sorted it - I set this video public a day after uploading and forgot 😓
crazy to me the guy spent more on the motherboard than the CPU i was expecting a 7950x not a 7900x
AM5 is pretty young. That board will be suitable for CPU upgrades for a long time.
lol @ 19:29

That 4090 cost more than my entire set up 😪
That 4090 it will fail soon without a support bracket
so 10% of the total cost of the mother board is that plastic junk.

Aww poor wee soul.
You can always blame Brexit for the price 😂
This kind of power consumptive machines should be banned. It is absolutely horrible for our environment.
I would have just put a sticker on it with a finger pointing to the ding with the word ‘ooops!’, much cheaper 😉 Somebody with more money than sense 🫣
