The R10 is finicky when it comes to setup. It should be 6-8’ behind the ball, and level with the hitting mat, and the ball needs to be 6-8’ away from the target. Also, alignment with the target line is important. Lastly, hard surfaces like concrete or bricks, etc … can cause distance misreadings. I have an 8x10’ artificial grass rug to set my teeing area up, covering my patio bricks. I don’t hit off it, I just use it to cover hard surfaces. I use the Garmin app primarily, $100/year U$. It gives access to over 43,000 golf courses. Word is that Awesome Golf does provide more accurate numbers, but for me that’s not as important as keeping my swing grooved in the off season. I’m firmly in the Garmin “ecosystem” so their app was a no-brainer. Have fun!
Great stuff! Thanks for the feedback. I just got myself a little stand and level and plan to go a little more in depth with my Garmin R10 and compare it more closely with the shop unit.
