  • AGRA, INDIA: This is my second visit to Agra, but the first time I've heard of the 'Baby Taj'. It actually turned out to be a great surprise and well worth the trip, especially as I was lucky enough to chat with some local artisans completing repairs to the precious stone work.
We are with you once again with a new travel video here in India, Locals Explain Ancient Traditions at Baby Taj 🇮🇳 This Place Surprised Me.
We were straight off the train from Amritsar and had only been in Agra for all of an hour, but we decided to jump right into exploring and on the advice of our rickshaw driver, made our way over to the Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj Mahal). We were exhausted but so full of enthusiasm and excitement to travel and explore this famous city, and the Baby Taj did not disappoint.
Often described as a "jewel box", sometimes called the "Bachcha Taj" or the "Baby Taj", the tomb is often regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal.
Here, we met a father and son - a family of stonemasons here in Agra going back generations to the Mughal times when the likes of the Taj Mahal were built. Keeping this ancient crafts alive is critical if these important monuments in Agra and across India are to remain intact and so, it was amazing to sit and talk with them about their work and the stones they use etc to repair these incredible buildings.
After exploring the Baby Taj, we took our rickshaw over to the other side of the Yamuna river where we had an incredible view of the Taj Mahal at sunset. This is Xiomara's first time in India and so it was great to see her witness the Taj Mahal in all its glory. Nothing beats seeing other people's joy!
If you've ever wondered how the Baby Taj Mahal or other ancient monuments in Agra are maintained, then this video is for you. Father and son team up to show us how they keep this UNESCO World Heritage Site alive, from the sweeping gardens to the intricate architecture. After watching this, you'll understand the importance of why it's so important to keep ancient traditions alive!
If you're travelling to Agra then you should really come here to these tourist places!

@@TheWanderLife There is a contrast, the Taj Mahal, Agra is built by Mughal emperor Shahjahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal while Taj Mahal, Aurangabad or Bibi ka Maqbara is built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's son Azim Shah for his mother Dilras Banu Begum. Both are wonderful.
Keep exploring. Keep it up 🤘
