This is exquisite, you made my brain believe this movie actually existed and it starred Florence Pugh and baby Hugh Grant at the same time and it was perfect
She's gorgeous and definitely has the vibe. However, I'd pictured Camilla a lot less 'polished' ? And not as typically feminine. A bit of a messy aesthetic, with crumpled clothing and hair that's not perfectly styled. Sickly looking face, maybe with slight dark circles under her eyes and a blasé gaze.
The thing is that, after I have seen the movie Like Minds, I have faith that this movie can actually be made. I'm not buying this, the story is too much in consciousness and too atmospheric crap.🥲
Totally agree. Pugh is more "meat". Camilla has a streak of toned down depression combined with hidden passion. That gives her something ephemeral. She's there and not there, like a ghost. And when she focusses her attention she's undeniably there. Who would you suggest? Poppy Drayton? (Too old now, I'm afraid).
If Poppy Drayton was blonde, maybe!! Based on the description you gave (it’s been a minute since I read TSH), I think of Hunter Schafer or Anya Taylor-Joy
@@ireneameena1450 anya is really not a bad choice. But... if you allow me, I would like to search a bit further. Personally I've some doubts. The darker tones of Camilla's life and personallity, combined with her beauty and aptitude for passion... hard shoes to fill. Let me see if I can come up with a suggestion. But Anya? One could do worse 😉.
After some deliberation (with me myself and I): how about Phil Collins's daughter? Lily. She's a good actor and she can do blonde. Or else someone from the series The Magicians.
@@hwlsgrl Okay, (dramatic sigh 😜) there's no arguing with a crush. I hope for both our sakes they get this film done. The way things are now? It probably will never happen. Too bad.
it’s not super obvious but in order from 0:20 it’s supposed to be bunny, charles, camilla, francis, and richard (didn’t find a great henry and obviously all of this is subjective)
@@maksimnikiforovski2034 Okay yes I can totally see that..honestly florence pugh just worked super well bc of how many things she’s been in that somewhat fit the vibe i was going for, but yeah agreed she’s a very warm and lovable actress
Omg amazing trailer, though Florence doesn’t fit Camilla at all. Florence is just so lively in every role she plays. I think Camilla must be played by ghostly, other wordly type of actress. I always imagined her as Saorsie Ronan or young Meryl Streep with anya taylor joy vibe
i’m pretty sure the author says that these kids do not dress like normal well-adjusted members of society - they’re very pretentiously academic, i think?
@@ireneameena1450 Not all of them. Henry in particular dresses more formally. I just think it’s silly to imagine they were all wearing tweed vests and pocket watches, when they were pretty much just wearing fancier coats and shoes. Richard definitely wasn’t dressing like Henry, he wore a coat he got second hand and lived in a school dorm. They were still going to colleges parties, hanging out at 80s bars and diners, driving 80s cars. The only places that would have looked formal and academic like the video were Julian’s classroom, and maybe Henry’s house. Henry’s house was probably more likely to just be a disarray mess of books.
@@ireneameena1450 I don’t actually care, it’s a nice video nonetheless. The general aesthetic of the book is that contrast, between high academic elitism, and 80s undergrad recreation. You can actually see picture of Bennington college in the early 80s, and how the students dressed. I personally appreciate that aesthetic the most.
the secret history is not the book for those who are looking for a typical 80s college aesthetic. they really go out of their way to be as unconventional and distinguished from their peers as possible (that’s one of the main points of the book).
@@catya I’m not saying they all dressed like average college students in the 80s, only that they are still confined by natural laws to exist in the world of New England in the 80s. They wore 80s clothing, and some of the characters were more out of touch than others. Henry may have been wearing absurd tweed outfits, but they didn’t all dress like 1910s graduate students at Oxford. The “dark academia” aesthetic is largely created by contemporary readers, and these visuals are pushed onto the text. For the most part, tsh is very typically 80s.
I don’t think Anya is a great choice for Camilla, I think it should be a unknown actress, a fresh face, who can absorb the Camilla character. Anya would kind of be Anya, i5 would distract from the story.
