Richard, until Francis gifts him some suits, is probably a mess of tolerable vintage pieces, and super cheap stuff that might look the part at 20 feet away, but obvious to anyone who actually cares up close, supported by Bunny's later aggressive teasing.

One other random detail I remember from the book is that Francis had a nice silk scarf with clocks on it, and I think some kid (one of Bunny’s relatives) wrapped it around a chicken drumstick😭 but yeah I think he likes fun scarves- I know he bought a fun scarf for Richard at one point too (when he went away for the weekend shortly after the funeral, and he also bought Henry the most boring book he could find at the store haha). That may be intentional. Because they're all incredibly flawed and it's a Greek tragedy really. Bunny (with all his annoyances and flaws) was still the only thread to humanity in the group. He wasn't as isolated as the rest and was more a normie. And I'm a firm believer that if the narrator of the story is often drunk or high, then, the story isn't always true. So it's upto us to read between the lines and draw our own conclusions.

I've read If They Were Villains also. It's a good one to follow after The Secret History. Just my personal opinion, TSH is way better.
