the first time i saw the print NC... its well designed.. very simple.. but it can be better... specially with those tubular steel... the problem here is the torsional force applied on the tubes... to fix this.. just simply change the tube to a 3x6 with a very thick wall.. 1/2 inch wall will be very nice.. im thinking of building one myself using this design as a base..

I did 3x5x3/8 thick wall and it is going to be rather large.
Do you mind sharing what spindle you are using? Looks like a low speed high torque spindle that I am looking into. Thanks!
Would it be possible to avoid the deflection by say center punching?
