Today I'm working on trying out a new to me stihl 261 chainsaw that I bought off a guy. I hope your all having a good day and thanks for watching.

I absolutely love my 261 and it will go to the grave with me. I got rid of a my 290 and went with the 261 and had it ported and polished, muffler mod and run a 20" .325 chain on it and it absolutely screams. Best saw I've ever owned. Great choice!
How much did it cost to have it ported and polished. Thnx
@@survivingcountrylife7069 $250 and worth every penny in my opinion. Will easily outcut a stock 362 with ease.

Morning Ben! I’m in the same situation with saws. I have the MS 290 with a 20inch bar and love it. It’s on the heavy side after running it a while. I would really like to get a 261 and then have the 290 beefed up to run a 25 inch bar but I don’t think there enough beef in it!🤣 I think the perfect pair of saws it what you now have. The 461 and a 261!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
You know it Todd! 461 and 261 all day long! That Firewood Midwest guy runs the crap out of his! Lol!
The 461 is invaluable for helping get it done when u get in the big stuff. If I made a living at this I'd also like to have a 661 with a 36 inch bar for Stump cutting. Maybe someday

I have a ms261 and just love it. The power to weight ratio is really good. I definitely think you are going to like it much better than your old 290. And I do believe it will out cut it in that sized wood.

This would be around the time for firing up the boiler for the first time, hope you and your family are doing good.
That was quick lol those 261 have a 3/8 pitch same as the 290 u had you got a good deal 225 for a 261 is a fair deal
Actually the 290 and the 261 run 325 pitch not 3/8
I modified my ms440 with a 9-pin sprocket 325 pitch in a modified 20 inch bar and it rips that 325 like you would not believe

@@mattsfirewoodvideos738 it is only a 50cc saw it really doesn't have the low end to pull that big of a chain
@@kennethrobinson5151 I have my 028 super converted from 325 to 3/8 and put a 18 inch bar n full chisel and I absolutely rips thru wood with the bar buried

Ben you are gonna be very happy with that Saw! I’ve had mine MS 261 for about five years now and I am extremely happy with it! it is by far the best chainsaw that I’ve had! Plus it’s kind of sentimental can a chainsaw be sentimental? My dad taught me to use a chainsaw on that 261

You must have bought an Oregon chain because I don't believe Stihll makes full chisel in 325 pitch only semi-chisel
