As a Welshman, I, too, emigrated to escape the poverty and despair of South Wales some fifty years ago. I'm glad I did, as I have more than I could ever have achieved back home.
50 yrs ago was 1974. There was no poverty and despair then. They were still rebuilding from WWII. Wilson was PM, white heat of the technological revolution etc. Not like today when the shops are shuttered and we've got people sleeping in doorways. Did they used to call you "Tosh" at school cos that's what your'e talking.
G'day to you! I hope there is more of this to come, in a little South Aust. you can see the remains of Welsh and Cornish Settlers, Welsh Built Square Chimneys and the Cornish Miners Round, very interesting Historic Place, When I went to Wales back in '98 I bought a Welsh Flag with the Dragon on it,still have it, We love Wales!
I'm a valley boy, my eldest boy is living in Ohio after having enough of the nonsense in the UK. Seems like little has changed. Very enjoyable, thanks for sharing that. 🏴
Fascinating, I would like to see more but alas the library does not have an English translation and although my middle name is Evans I can make neither hide nor hair of the Welsh lingo.
Hi, I am Jen a Welsh speaker who gives explainers from a learner's perspective. :) I hope I can help and if not, I understand. It's all on my RUclips page. :)

You're exaggerating the poverty a bit. South Wales is certainly far better off than Argentina at the moment.
@@patavinity1262 both countries were very different 50 years ago.
Da iawn. Fair play to you.

Many of the miners of S Wales originally hailed from Devon and Somerset during the 1870s agricultural depression.
Fascinating. The need to get away from home is universal.
Where can I watch the whole thing? Some of my descendants went here at the very beginning
I wonder if they brought the border collie and welsh sheepdogs with them. Or did they use a different dog breed.
I wonder if they've got inept politicians and a 20mph speed limit there too😒
u cant escape your fate
