He made it look easy didn't he. People have been trying to copy his setup ever since that run. He put spring loaded wheelie bar rollers into his rear bumper. There probably more secrets that I don't even know of, but that was the stand out change that I could visually see.

+martin750hp Perhaps but the '67 HEMI Under Glass was a faster car than this '68 Barracuda and this was way back in 1967, the only year it was campaigned by it's builder, Bob Riggles. Both of the cars have weight added in the rear, of course but the HEMI under glass was a purpose built wheelstander, as you know. It had individual brakes for the rear wheels and the engine/trans were just forward of the rear end housing. The wheelie was impressive in this video, no doubt but the two cars couldn't be further from different in design other than the bodies.

That mustang looked pretty clean, and I normally think the 4 eyes are ugly. I'm sure it got fixed quickly, just was a bummer.

I hear what you are saying about this and I ponder the thought myself. I'm assuming they are not dedicated wheelie cars and they don't have a lot of practice doing it. Also I think it takes a proper weight balance on the car to not come up too fast and raise the rear tires off the ground and loose traction.
The track prep is awesome every year here. You will see people get there shoes ripped off there feet if they are walking in the track (it is so sticky).
