    Little tip if you want to kill the bigger ships by taking out their power plant: Get closer. And I mean really close, basically hug their power plant and hose away. You're doing a lot of your damage from around 500m, which means you will easily hit those big targets, but miss their reactors. If you do it right you can take down an Anaconda with 50% or more hull remaining.

    Yeah!!! XD This video has the best advice I've seen for ship weapons in Elite dangerous yet.
    Most people like the lasers... however, after seeing how much of your time is spent with the lasers either charging or waiting for your weapon power to build back up you soon realize that advanced weapons aren't always better weapons.
    In Stargate SG1 many of the most advanced races would often find that the SG team's primitive weapons were more than a match for their own...
    When you put aside appearances Guns might not be the fastest at taking out enemy ships... but they are the most efficient at everything you need them to do... It's better to carry a multi-tool than an entire tool box... even though you will have to work a little harder since a Multi-Tool can't be every tool in every way you need it to be... Still beats Carrying around a heavy tool box though right? :D
    Oh and loosing a multi tool is less expensive to replace than a tool box too.... Best bet... Switch to all Multicannons... I personally set the smaller two on my ship to gimballed with the two largest ones as fixed for maximum damage when going head on or hugging an enemy's hull.

    Sweet, I was wondering about this issue myself and you've saved me a lot of time. Great video, I'm CMDR Merriden if you feel like looking me up. I mostly do mission running in Alliance space for the time being until I can fit an Anaconda for exploration and head out into the black.

      Your post was 7 months ago so you probably have your Anaconda by now but you can explore in an Asp explorer at a fraction of the cost of an Anaconda.

    Best loadout I've found for Viper or Cobra is to buy one each of small and medium gimballed beam lasers and multicannons. Stagger them so that you have one small laser and one medium multicannon on one side and one medium laser and small multicannon on the other. Use the beams to take down shields, then chew up the hull with both.
    I'm no expert but after a lot of trial and error this is what's worked best for me personally.

    Multi-cannons are just as good as any other, they all have their disbenefits. Personally, I liked the beam lasers because they did more damage really quickly but its always good to have 2 secondary weapons that are different otherwise you will be recharging.

    Upgrading your sensors will increase accuracy of gimballed and turreted weapons. Target assist is a battle between enemy heat signature + distance from you and your sensors.

      I keep hearing this, but I have yet to see evidence of it. All the missing my gimballed weapons do can easily be accounted for by the apparent size of the target at a given distance and by the terrible tracking speed of beam lasers compared to other weapons. Pulse, burst, and MCs snap quickly to the target, while beams drift ponderously, overshoot, then return... If they're aiming off-center at a target 100m in front of me and to my left, and I roll rapidly until it's to my right, they simply can't keep up with the arc the target travels through, whereas the other weapons do just fine.
      I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've seen no difference between gimbals with sensors at D or A, and if you can link to some evidence supporting this I'd really like to see it!

      ***** Improved sensors help at longer ranges, up to about 1.5 Km, after that gimballs couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if your life depended on it, lol.

      torkair72torino no, they don't help... sensors only mean an enemy ship shows up on radar.. they have nothing to do with weapon accuracy.

    This setup will be good for when you fly in wings. Have 1 person to only take out enemy shields and the other 3 to destroy the hulls.

    I use an ASP. With a 17 MW power plant and a class for rating A distributor. 2 class 1 small hard point constant beam lasers 2 class 1 small hard point pulse lasers and 2 medium hard point gimbaled class 2 multi-cannons. I use an ASP because I'm a multirole kind of guy and something I can do trades as well as battle is perfect for me.

    Great video showcasing the weapons, I was kind of wanting to get the cannons but after seeing you using them I changed my mind. I have two questions: 1st what do you think about hybrid builds? For example I use 2 Class 2 Pulse Lasers and 2 Class 1 Multi Cannons on my Viper, the lasers I mostly use for taking out the shields then I shower them with the M-Cannons.
    2nd Question is, where do you personaly think it's the best place to get some Wanted targets? Anarchy Systems? Resource Points? USS's?

      Jonymago I used pulse laser & multicannon configuration on my Viper until i switched it with the Vulture. But I used Class 1 Pulse lasers & Class 2 multicannons. I used pulse lasers on shield and then all weapons together on the hull. It works pretty well.
      About the 2nd question, resource extraction sites on a planetary rings are best places to bunty hunt that i know of. You can get 700-800k on a single run with a Viper, until you run out of multicannon ammo.

    Good video, really enjoyed it. I will say this, if you are going to use an all beam setup three things to keep in mind, it really fights the purpose to put all of them into the same fire group. It's important to chose your shots with beams so putting half in one group and half in the other can really help you keep the damage on your enemy longer.
    Also, gimbals are pretty meh on beams since beams are so easy to aim. The only time I use gimbaled beams is on my vulture an then only one. Why? because the vulture's hard points are far enough apart it can be hard to get both beams on the target, you can also use a single gimbaled beam as a sight for your other one, to assist you in hitting subsystems.
    If you are going to used all gimbaled beams then remember, when the enemy is far away or showing a thin profile, unlock your target, your beams will behave like the fixed variant and since beams are dead easy to aim you don't have to worry about missing like you would with multicannons.

    if you like lasers then try NOT GIMBALED beam lasers... un-gimbaled weapons get damage and consumption bonused (kinetic weapons hold more ammo)

    4 Thermal weapons is probably the worst weapon config you can do on a viper. Try 1 fixed class 2 beam laser and 3 gimbaled multicannons.

      That's about the same as two class 1 lasers and two class 2 multicannons, really, which is what he started with. I actually like that loadout for the viper - when using fixed lasers, the C1 mounting points are close together and near the cockpit. And the more ammo you spend against a target's shields, the fewer targets you can kill before you run out, compared to taking shields down primarily with lasers.
      In PVP, more lasers (especially fixed) could allow you to break through someone's shields quickly, between or despite shield cell use, although vipers have very thick shields for their size and can be tough to knock out, but for cobras and anything small, it's a lot more likely to start dealing hull damange. Power and heat are serious concerns though. Against NPCs multicannons are among the best weapons for making sure you get a kill, although missiles can be good for that too, as well as in PVP.

    4x multi canons is great for pve, but in pvp you need to burst down the sheild before the opponent has time to use sheild cells to regen since when the sheild is down they are useless. Also when wings is released i'd love to play some with you! how do i contact you ? you have a ts server for fans?

    You tricked out the last loadout with counter measures and shield boosters, could't you trick out the earlier builds with heat sinks and shield boosters, and maybe gotten the sustained fire + damage composition you were looking for?

    so question... seemed like all the guys you were shooting were showing CLEAN status but you got bounties using the Scanner... where does it tell you after the scan that they have bounties in other systems?

    i dont understand it. ive that same equip like you and i also fighted lower people and lost...my beamlasers dont really shoot...they stop shooting after a while with no reason....its not the energy or sth. what am i doing wrong?

    I don't like the viper. Its hardpoint placements arent very good. The medium hardpoints are underneath which puts the nose of the craft in the way of targeting. I prefer the cobra. Its not as maneuverable but it is more durable and has more intelligent hardpoint placement. Regardless the vulture is the craft to get for dogfighting. Two large hardpoints on top of the craff

      Berenger Christy Cobra has even worse hardpoints imho, the small hardpoints are too far apart and suffer from the same problems as the lower hardpoints on the viper.

    you should try thinking that lasers are for shields and projectiles for armour. Also try one hardpoint with a plasma accelerator. loved this show. wouldn't mind talking to you about the game privatley. Username is adamsoul500

      evilplayer147 Hi, it's an anarchy system. I am scanning the targets for bounties in other systems. When I scan them and find that they have a bounty, I kill them and collect it.

    Just as feedback, when you want us to hear the sounds of the combat, which are clearly cool, please don't put on music like THAT. It does not only make it difficult to listen to the combat, it's also to be blunt the most horrible whatever it is I have heard in my entire lif.

    Why are you so dead set on using four of the same weapons? It's pretty obvious that lasers are best against shields, while cannons and such is better against the hull as far as i've seen...

    Pulse are weak on hulls so maybe try 2 Pulse and 2 multi canons with Pulse being smaller than the multi cannons. Hehe..

    im curretnly using 2 multis and 2 normal kanons in my cobra mk 3 works well do rip down schields immediatly and rain down terror on the poor fucker.
    also 4 kanons is darn expensive in replenischment

    yea man i dont know long you have been playing for but all the same gun is never a good (expect for the vulture that gets a pass because its just weird that way). lazer sheilds bullets for armor.
