    from what I understand, the fire risk is due to an overheating part in the heating chamber. As a Beta tester, I find this situation really concerning. I won’t commit until I see the problem actually fixed. I guess I lost some patience, but after my friend’s persuasion, I decided to give the T1Pro a try.

    Can someone please give the TLDR for those of us who don't have 3 hr to spend?

      I mean, I'd prefer you watch at least the first 20 min.
      New board is fine but it's janky at best.

      @@3DMusketeersOK I did, thanks.
      I don't mean to be snarky, but I was gun-shy after just a few sec, as it looked like the beginning of the previous live stream on this, after which I said never again; 90% was watching you fuss with the hardware and read comments

      They have a component on a board that is fine when used on power systems that are 220/240v (as in Europe)
      But when used in the USA on 120v the component is underrated and gets hot.
      The replacement board has been reworked to be safe for the users on 120v,

    I am glad that you brought this to everyone's attention, but unfortunately for me I had ordered and received my Plus 4 on 10-1- 24. I am not able to do the modifications that have come to light, and I am looking for someone who has made these modifications in my area. I am located in Northern California, maybe one of your subscribers can help me out with a recommendation.

      I'd personally recommend to send it back and wait until units ship with the better boards.

    So I am wondering if you don't recommend the qidi plus 4 what other 3d printer would you suggest at this price point and with these kind of specs? Or would you say if the qidi plus 4 didn't have this one issue would this be one of the better machines at this price point?

    i'm at 42:38 and they send a document with the new ssr Which I also received to put the cable on the right Yellow Red Black. Instead of Red Black Yellow. So I guess you didn't follow their instruction....

    • @3DMusketeers
      @3DMusketeers  4 дня назад

      Yeah, they did not do that with mine LOL. But I will be fixing that off camera. If you look, your board is different than mine too. I have one of the first prototypes of that board, it came with no instructions. They made those after this stream, because of our wiring issues :)

  • @jerrygorman5030

    Hopefully you are grounded somehow when you are handling a PCB due to ESD concerns

    • @3DMusketeers
      @3DMusketeers  8 дней назад

      nope, no grounding, likely should have, but nothing too sensitive there for esd from what I could tell. But you are right, that would have been a good practice that I did not do. I figured since it was mains voltage, grounding would have posed more issues than what it would have solved. Not like the board was in an esd bag before either lol.
      Interestingly, based on the photos just sent by Qidi, mine is STILL wired wrong, but it works... so? I never got wiring documentation unfortunately when we did the new one.

    you should learn electronics as a tech of 45+ years, your comments on the board were mostly not quite correct.

      As a human of 34 years with 2 business degrees, but successful tesla coils, electric drag racing vehicles, etc. under my belt, yeah, some of that makes sense. I have some idea of what is going on, but NEVER said I was an expert at any of that.
      But hey, if you think my comments on that new board (I am assuming you meant the new one) are nonsense, please do correct me, I would like to know what I got wrong. No one in chat really said anything different.

    I'm surprised to see transistors with swapped pins. It must be a prototype of a circuit board. Why don't they use SMD components??? I've been in the PCB industry for many years, and can't remember the last time I've seen a PCB with components like the ones they've used here. It doesn't look professional.

    • @3DMusketeers
      @3DMusketeers  11 дней назад

      great question.. It is about 3 amps or so on the heater, so maybe SMD components they were sourcing were not strong enough?

    • @larsjensen4908
      @larsjensen4908 11 дней назад

      @@3DMusketeers The transistors with swapped pins should only be used in a control circuit and can without any problem be replaced with SMD versions. E.g. BC547 (leaded version) versus BC847 (SMD version)

      @3DMusketeers  7 дней назад

      I have to play by the rules on the stream, you know? I dont want people doing this anyways, but we need to test the claims of the company, which is what we did.

      @ChrisEpler 7 дней назад

      @@3DMusketeers No I get it, but I also don't understand why Qidi isn't using an off the shelf SSR vs. that thing...

    • @3DMusketeers
      @3DMusketeers  7 дней назад

      I dont either, well, technically I do, it is darn close to the bed heater on the P1S but those are different things! An off the shelf SSR would have been better 100%

    • @Harry_64
      @Harry_64 7 дней назад

      @@ChrisEpler Simple, it comes down to cost. It's far cheaper to roll your own board than it is to buy somone eleses SSR.
      Most consumer level products are built like this (to a price point). When you add a dollar here and a dollar there you
      very quickly incur a higher cost and woulf need to price the item above what the intended market is willing to pay for it.

    Please stop making content. I can't believe you are asking on a live stream how to wire something. 😂😂Anytime you change a redesigned component on anything you cannot assume wires just go in the same place or look at wire colors and guess. You need to consult a wiring diagram or instructional video before powering up.

    • @3DMusketeers
      @3DMusketeers  7 дней назад

      As we said, there was no diagrams nor instructions sent along with this board, the new board was not marked like the old one was. Had you paid attention to the content you would have known that ;)
      Qidi now has one out, but when they sent me that new board, one did not exist.

    • @andrewborntrager7909
      @andrewborntrager7909 7 дней назад

      @3DMusketeers Then you stop right there and contact support or do more research instead of blowing something up or causing a fire.

    • @3DMusketeers
      @3DMusketeers  7 дней назад

      It is a custom board, we were one of the first to get it. Qidi knew we were doing a stream with it. Had they had that info available they would have given it.
      Everything worked out in the end, its fine, we made plenty of disclaimers throughout the stream.
      I dont mind putting myself in a BIT of KNOWN danger to be able to test and verify claims of companies. While I am not an electrician, I am not a spring chicken with voltages and such. I understand your concern, but we wanted to test this as soon as possible due to the extenuating circumstances of the part it was replacing hitting over 200C when in normal operation.
