I think the way you do your inset seams are harder than they need to be. I start my first seam an inch or two below the end. That way when you get to the last side no worries about accidentally sewing over your first seam. Then just finish sewing the partial seam you started with. Hope I explained that well! I love your batik quilt! It's gorgeous!
Thank you so much Pat for sharing a bit of your work, like the squaring up of the crab runner and the inset seam on the crab pillow😊 love love love the pumpkin quilt and the fabric 🥰 thank you Pat for all you do and share 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You gave some of the best advice about rulers today that I've ever heard. So often people are pushing getting rulers the size of your finished blocks but as you pointed out, having a larger ruler than your block gives you much more control of the block below. I can't count how many times I've made a bad cut using a ruler similar in size to the block below. Another thing, hearing that you've had a ruler for many years without replacing it was freeing. I know that if our rulers get nicks along the edge we need to replace them, but let's save what still works and is in good shape. Thank you Pat for your wisdom! You help us keep our joy in quilting and keep growing in our technique!
Can't wait to get my copy of APQ in the mail. Love your pumpkin quilt! And, Pat, I really miss your Podcast. I used to love to listen to you interview my favorite quilters, and introduce new ones, as I sewed.
Beautiful quilt Pat. I saw that and your journey through American Patchwork. You are such a wonderful person and a great quilters. I watch you every day. You are such an inspiration. Thanks for all you do.
I love seeing batik quilts. People think they are hard to sew with but they are like paints for creating unique and glorious quilts they just flow. I recommend everyone try one at least once. Yes they feel a little different but the more you wash the quilt the softer they get.
Your blouse is so cute....love the fabric. Your Fall quilt with the pumpkins and Benartex batiks is a stunner 🤩. Congratulations. Thanks for another great video 😊💕
Love your quilt, I will definitely have to get a copy of the magazine. The purple crab pillow is cute. Thanks for sharing Pat. Hope you have a great evening.
Thanks for how to do an inset seam, so useful. Your pumpkin quilt is beautiful. I really like using batiks and your quilt shows them off really well. Have a great day!
Beautiful pumpkin/fall quilt When I do a Y seam I leave more than 1/4" space - makes it easier to sew the last seam down. Thanks for all the time you spend making these videos.
Hi Pat! Randy & I were at the cabin for a few days so I'm just now getting caught up on videos. Oh my, the picture of your quilt in the magazine is just gorgeous!! And so is your yard 😊😊 With our 100+ degree days, ours looks so bad. Watering doesn't even seem to help, so we just give up. I'm only watering my potted plants & they're doing ok.
Love your Batiks and Pumpkins Quilt. I am imagining red & greens with trees, blues with snowflakes, pinks and hearts...one for every season❤...off to get the magazine!
Pat, do you do all your own sewing, or do you have helpers? If you do it yourself, do you ever sleep? I wish I could be as productive. LOVE your purple crab pillow!
Love really good crab cakes but hard to find here in the desert southwest. Your fall quilt is beautiful. Will have to look for the magazine. I have to apologize...I get caught up in the video and forget many days to click the like button. The reminder that was posted awhile back was great😊
🍁🍂 hi Pat 🍄. I’m definitely going to pick up American patchwork quilt magazine I am a prescriber from years passed. I would love to give your pattern a try ❤
Your fall quilt is so pretty, love the fabrics & your design is perfect. Are there instructions in APQ Mag for it? The quilting is fantastic🎉 I'll make special trip to book store for the magazine. Crabby pillow is nice; set in seams are a bit of a pain but not that hard. Like you said, you just have to watch & be careful. Great visit in the Sloan Zone, catch you next time online 😊 Have a great rest of the day & enjoy your crab cakes🎉😊
I have recently subscribed again to APQ magazine, hope this fall issue is included. That pumpkin quilt is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing how you trim the quilt. I am alway listening to different techniques and I like your way……I need a big squaring ruler I am a newer subscriber to your channel and I look forward to your videos.
Love your pumpkin quilt. The quilting is fabulous! I love the magazine and have every issue from the first one. Its great to go back and see the quilts to imagine them in today's fabrics
Love your quilt in the magazine. I take that one and love it. Also love the colors in your crab quilt, runner, and pillow. Just beautiful!! Thank you for a great video. Enjoyed the inset seam demo. 😊
I find I mess up if I leave only 1/4" for this first seam. So I sew from the other end, to about, half way. Sew the other three sides and then finish the first seam from half way.
LOVE your pumpkin quilt... BEAUTIFUL!!! Question... How do you determine fabric placement to make a pattern look cohesive? This is a BIG challenge for and. ANY suggestions (tutorial) you can share would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!!
I got American patchwork & quilting for many many years. My favorite magazine though is quilt sampler. I was so sad to read that it is no longer being published. Has anyone heard differently?
I noticed that too and hadn't heard that they were stopping, but I didn't find anything the past couple of months, including online. I even wrote to AP&Q to inquire and and haven't heard a word

A partial seam would be so much easier to do on the crab block imho.
