The only one we should learn from and emulate is Jesus who died for us. Alan's life will end in an eternal punishment for rejecting Christ. What's to learn?

I sadly only came across this today after watching him getting his SAG award and seeing his hand shaking and knew something was wrong and looked it up and here I am. I grew up with this man on my TV in M.A.S.H., my whole family loved watching the show and Alan was the reason. I'm sorry to hear he has this terrible condition, but so happy to hear how positive he is about it. He is right that he is a lot luckier than a lot of people, he is 84, has had a long and happy career, has money so will have the best treatments and care, but it's still so sad that in this day and age, with science bringing us so far, we still have people suffering and it breaks my heart that another person, I may not know personally but, has meant a lot to me has to go through this. All the best Mr Alda, and thank you for everything.

Sir, I take a deep breath. I’m 49 years young. You are an amazing human being. I love your acting you’re directing your human nature and so much more than I should take time for now. I’m horrible at being short, the 32nd elevator speech. When I worked at a hospital for 10+ years I met a woman who drastically changed my life when I went up as a an executive chef to talk to our patients, to me they were personal and our clients and I wanted to make sure they got the best food in quality that they expected like a Ritz Carlton yet ironically in a hospital. This woman said to me and I was with my executive director at the time which was wonderful but I still don’t know if he caught it as I did, she had Parkinson’s disease. I went up there with a smile on my face to ask how her meal was without looking at the board on the wall defined out basic information of her diet outside of her name and really stab myself in the back by being so ignorant by not realizing what her position was. When I naturally asked her how her food was without thinking what tired she was on she said she didn’t eat, doesn’t want to eat and just wants to die. I asked her does she need help she said yes, God will help me and I just want to go no. And I asked why and she said because she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. She was so sad and normally when I bring food to people it made them happy because they weren’t being stuck with needles or being given medicine or being drowned in tests that made them uncomfortable but this beautiful beautiful woman I couldn’t help. The only thing I could do was listen she didn’t want any food or what I consider food to be a sustenance for the soul as well as the body she just wanted to be heard and she wanted to be allowed to go. I am trying my entire life to help so many people through food or entertainment to make them smile, to change their day but I finally met somebody who after I asked what can I do for you how can I make you happy, her response again was, I just wanna die. How do you respond to that. She was shaking terribly bad. I hope and pray she’s in a comfortable spot now. Sorry for the lengthy response. Mr. Alan Alda, I’ve always looked up to you and your characters and you’re directing and the people that you’ve worked with, maybe there something that I could take from that and help other people as I wished I could’ve helped this person. She did say thank you to me, I think there was more of a courtesy but what a beautiful Woman she was in so many different facets. Hi Babel, I apologize. Mr. Alda, thank you for your talents your entertainment you’re directing and I wish you and your family the best and please don’t be sad, we know, I look up to you as I looked after this woman who I’ve only spoken to for10 minutes. What a life changing direction

An excellent segment. An insightful discussion. Good for you Mr. Alda for communicating your health issue in this manner. I was sorry to see how the segment was rushed at the end however. Morning network time is expensive and 'they' needed the time to move on to the latest nonsense that they consider news. This could have been a half hour feature that would enlighten and support an audience famished for relevant, relatable 'NEWS'. Thank you CBS, AND you could have done better.

I love Alan Alda, been watching MASH with my family since I was a kid and he's always come across as an intelligent and thoughtful person, especially with the wisdom of his older age now. I find that these days in his more recent interviews and tv appearances he's often kind of pitied/dismissed by younger hosts due to his slowness/shakiness but this man has so much to say and I love listening to his take on communication and science. He also has such a dry wit that reminds me of my father, though he seems to be a bit more sentimental now. Legend.

Seriously? You can't see brain injury or disorders like it's a wound on skin.
I developed epilepsy due to multiple traumatic brain injuries after I had a stroke. I shake constantly, lose my train of thought and have difficulty speaking on occasion. The only thing people see from me regularly is an obvious limp and me using a walking stick or cane. Am I more or less sick than someone else who has a brain disease? Sick is sick no matter what people see openly or not.
