As a boy I grew up around mines, which sparked a love for machinery. As a mechanic I still still love it but find myself looking more at how it works and how it was built. I always find myself slightly frustrated with tv shows on the topic as it’s dumbed down and not in depth enough for me. THIS Episode knocked it out of the park! I look forward to more videos like this! Keep up the good work!
I've done some work for Bateman in the past and can attest that their shop is generally very clean and well kept. I know some of the employees and they are great people. It was good to see so much of the materials and products used are Canadian sourced and made. Thanks to Rich and the Deboss crew for highlighting great locally manufactured products. #supportlocalbusinesses
The F4.5 Cummins would make an awesome powerplant for a small truck. Maybe years from now the grapples will start hitting the scrap yard. Keep on the lookout for one!
12:37 That's a Hultdins saw. For my Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering I developed something similar to this, except we only bought saw itself (without case, oil reservoir...) I designed everything to connect it to a grapple, most pain in the ass thing was to fit all the control valves in it since we also added hydraulic pressure booster to get some more pressure for grabbing stuff (safety valve after it was set to 400 bar). Great video, kinda makes me want to send it to the company I worked for at that time to see how good can grapple production be organised.

Love the peak at how things are made, especially from places that put food on the table of locals. It’s also nice for people to be aware of what cool things happen around them without them realizing it.
I did HVAC work at their parent company's plant in Victoriaville, GRYB. Awesome stuff to see get put together, they had the craziest bender I've seen to make the bottom of the buckets. Everybody there from the owner to the welders were awesome.

I love the how it’s made type videos, When I was driving truck I used to go in and out of these cool little shops toiling away making the things that keep our world working.
More! I love it. This place is all basically local to the canada and the states and they are super proud of it and should be. Need to have more manufacturing here.
I work for a logging contractor/forestry products distributor/truck shop. They tried out a few of these Bateman log grapples and I wasn’t very impressed. One of them had the grapple portion break clean off from the knuckle/rotation bearing at the weld. And the main grapple pin was a two part pin that wasn’t bored straight and had no grease clearance. They also ordered a pin on thumb for a Volvo excavator and that ended up needed the pin bosses on the thumb needed to be cut out and rewelded so it would clear the end of the excavator stick boom and then line bored to make it straight again. Luckily my boss was an in house fabricator that could handle all that.
Definitely love this type of video! Showing off the back bone to the industry! It’s always cool to see how things are made and the mind set of these companies!
I like the video. I love "how its made" video's. I do consulting work for manufacturing companies and am always on the lookout for unusual industrial manufacturing things.
You guys gotta head down to the Oshkosh/Pierce factory in Wisconsin. I was up there to finalize a fire engine build. The factory is incredible they build everything with the exception of the drivetrain, pumps, lights and tanks. And the entire thing just rolls down the assembly line, custom ordered fire engines.
Man I wish I could show you my place of work. I operate a cogen plant in Florida a relatively small plant that powers a production plant. I can't say what it is we make but just know its from all the sunshine we get here. Great video and commentary on production. Keep up the good work.
