This is why intelligent people like Billy Corgan are not the mainstream anymore, major label puppets are told what to sing, what to say, what to wear, don’t write, don’t play, not allowed to have an opinion on real things that matter. Long live Billy Corgan.

Im currently deep in a Smashing Pumpkins rabbit hole. I loved them as a teenager and now im reliving and researching the band, music, history.
This dude is responsible for some of my favourite music, and influenced and worked w some of my fav artists.
This is so cool and suchhhhh good timing.
Hes right about the depth of an artist too. Art that lasts comes from a genuine place, not from a 'lets pander and do anything for a dime'. Seeing different sides to an artist, looking through archives, old candid pics, random interations and colaborations. Different artistic projects even. I think all of that plus true love of art and creation is what makes a great long lasting artist.
I like how he explains things bc i think like that. Im autistic and the sensitivity, pattern recognition, thinking in colours are all things that i experience when i create art and live life. Especially in art though. Music is a language of patterns and colour, its communication, its needs no words. It reaches everyone! ❤

Billy singing is like trying to get into beer as a teen, at first it's kind of rough but eventually you start to enjoy it and get into the nuances of it. I actually think it also inspires people to just try singing no matter what their voice sounds like, which is kind of what Kurt did for people playing guitar. Same with Basquiat's paintings, they unlock a freedom in people by colouring outside of the lines. Our personal imperfections is the true beauty of life.

Billy's voice is so unique and unperfect that it makes me love it that much more. Gives normal people like me who diddle around with making music hope. There is something about being yourself and owning who you are and not caring that is freeing and liberating. Be yourself, always, dont let anyone take that away from you. In a world full of squares, id rather be a circle.

Thanks for posting this, I'm glad it showed up on my youtube feed. I have an old MP3 player with gigabytes of full albums on it, I still listen to it. Smashing Pumpkins is certainly one of the bands that I can listen to for hours on end, without wanting to change to something else. Gish, Adore, Mellon Collie, Machina, etc. I'm looking forward to buying the new album.

I was a huge Pumpkins fan when I was growing up and I always found Billy to be a pretty interesting and respectable guy. I always want to like his new music, but I haven't been able to get into most of the newer albums. I thought the 2007 "Zeitgeist" album he made with the original Pumpkins drummer (Jimmy Chamberlin) was quite good and memorable, that was the last Pumpkins album that really stuck with me. I think they did a lot of things right with that album in how they brought the music back to the classic "alternative rock with a heavy metal edge" style and how it felt like all the songs fit together as one musical experience. Obviously music is subjective and we all aren't going to like the same things, but I'd love if Billy took the music in that direction again.

I gotta say dude, you are a REALLY good interviewer. I’ve seen pretty much every single Billy interview online and this might be the best (with the Lars Ulrich interview coming at a now, second place.) You really have a way of disarming your guest (no pun intended.) 😂 Very positive and genuine. Not canned questions at all. You can really tell you are curious and interested in the creative process. Sometimes Billy has a tendency to put his guard up and play a character or persona. But he seems totally real and laid back here. Excellent stuff man! And SUPER funny. I found myself pausing it because I was seriously laughing hard. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I’m kind of curious, did you prepare a lot before this interview? Were you nervous? Peace from Louisiana. ✌🏼

I remember way back when a friend handed me their first album saying that they reminded him of The Doors, I'm a huge Doors fan, they sounded nothing like The Doors! I thought it was ok, but never gave them a second thought. A few years later when they blew up I was flored! Never saw it coming, never became a fan really, but I like several cuts.

Ehhhh.... No mate... SP were among the greats of that era but not the only talented artists by far. Alice in Chains id place right next to them and even after the death of Layne and the inclusion of William they are still putting out gold to this day and absolutely killing it live. For me Jerry Cantrel and Billy Corgan are the most talented musical composers of that period in music history and even now. Though id say Soundgarden was amazing and at least the first 3 PJ records are legendary as well. Nirvana...... trash.
