Just a heads up for everyone, you need to have a port forwarded in order to do this on a server, if your server is hosted by a provider, you will need to do that with them.
Now you just need to develop good signal habits
- A signal every X distance, where X == to the maximum length you want an entire train to be, or some other arbitrary number
and for intersections
- a chain signal for every entrance into an intersection
- a regular signal for every exit of an intersection
As a possible helpful research, you might want to look into some of Factorio train signal blueprints, as they have an identical train signal system as Create.
Doesn't that potentially create a LOT of lag with all those signals though? Or is it not signals checking their area, but they just act as markers and the train makes the check as it approaches?
@@Nevir202 I have no concrete proof for this claim in terms of Create, but if this is like any other game with trains, like factorio, 90% of the lag created by train related things, will come from train pathfinding, rather than the signals or anything else.

@@Bandit2033 train path finding problems seem so easy to fix, like, the path is always the same unless the tracks are modified, always fallow the same path, stop/go based on stop signs, check for updates on the path every time the track is updated.
I don't know, maybe I am missing something.

This is literally (although quite simplified) what train monitors look like in real life. Very impressive, and I can tell whoever made this addon knew exactly what they were doing!
you can use the observer you use for the flipboards on train stations and they tell you where trains are and what stations they are going to.
If I had a nickel for everything Shalz said that a create mod addon was insane, I could afford a house in LA

Create trains being able to move through unloaded chunks is, like, 90% of why they're cool.
This is SO COOL I’ve never felt a need to seperate everything across my whole world if I could keep it all close. But now? I explicitly WANT to make a rail network across everything, so I can see it all on this.
I made my first proper create mod train last night (though I finished it at 3am this morning) and made two more this afternoon. I am absolutely going to make more.

I ought to work on that Create addon I was working on, inspired by the Factorio mod Logistic Train Networks. These cool addons remind me to get back to that. Gotta add combinators first though, that is important and not easy. Or maybe integrate CC. Or both. This is the problem, keep thinking of more stuff to do

If you’re looking into world wide trains, I would consider using the nether, trains can travel into there and they make 5 digit coordinate changes take less than a minute
after seeing this i immediately installed it on my own server which has a pretty expansive train network and it is actually amazing

You should really check out the Minecraft Transit Railway mod, it is a bit complicated at first but believe me, it's so much fun once you figure it out and features a map like this as well and a ton more

5:50 there are a few simple rules to avoid crashes - if there are multiple entrances or exits to a block, have repeating (brass (wrenched)) signals going into it, and normal signals going out of it. Never have two such "junctions" directly together. you can break up one way rails with normal signals to allow higher frequency. One way rails are usually too much trouble to care, but if you do them, also use repeating signals, to ensure the train can leave it. sections between signals should fit your longest train going there - you don't want a train to go onto a one way truck, pull into a passing track and still stick out blocking the train that is passing it.

You can also have the display on a wall so then you can make a larger centre which shows all the railways and trains

If you like trains, try minecraft transit railway. You can’t build trains but there are a lot of options and there are cable cars, planes, boats. All of these are automated only (with a driver option)
This basically sorta exists already, but with display links and display boards instead. You can see how many minute’s/seconds until a train arrives at a certain station
can we appreashate how much effot shalz puts in to us
Oh nice it's Journeymap on steroids. And yeah if you haven't used Journeymap it's an amazing QoL client-side mod. Bookmarks, automatically marks death points, shows mobs and players.

if you want to know how close a train is to a station you can use display links on the station with a display board
There’s this computer mod. If it’s up to date, you could put the site up in train stations and it’s that much better

This is like those train control hubs for the railroads. Idk what they're called exactly.
possible idea: Add a site viewer mod or similar stuff so you can display train stuff in real time inside of minecraft. Like a big pc screen that shows the site inside minecraft

it upastes instantly because the server is hosted on the same machine that's running the game. it's as much "on the internet" as your own game is.
which is to say this is very cool lol
Any other create mod addon: "Heck yeah aren't I cool?"
Create Aeronautics: "I still don't exist..."
You could use that one internet in minecraft mod and make this map on the server for everyone to see
Can I recommend the computer craft mod for displaying in world? If requires some more coding knowledge but I’m sure the internet has some code already, and it’s much less likely to crash (probably).

Also ithink if you rightclick the signals with the wrench it only counts it as traversable IF a train can LEAVE the area :3
Quick question about redstone links: if you rename an item, does it change the redstone frequency?

You could combine this with that one tv mod so that you can see the website in-game!
Soon we will have an entire factorio gameplay but with rotational power in Minecraft
When technology in a block game is going faster than irl.
Imagine pairing this with the web displays mod to have a live track map in your world
