No, I'm guessing what he means by "we sense a stirring of a breeze" is that it is only the beginning, and if we take the chance, we can breeze and turn it into a guiding wind (ie. actually make change).
The ignorant will always outnumber the intellectuals, the important thing is to raise the base level of both. If the ignorant of the future are as intelligent as the intellectuals of the present, we're doing something right.

No more excuses for not learning stuff, as the best and brightest of our spiritual teachers, scientists, astronomers, intellectuals, and thinkers are posting all their present and past talks on youtube. One can fasttrack a university education by spending time with the greatest thinkers and artists of our time on youtube. It's amazing. I'd recommend Tedtalks/Lord Martin Rees: Is this the Final Century?
By acting your self. If you are intelligent and educated then you have a far greater ability to affect positive change than an ignorant individual. A single great person, like Sagan, can educate and move many. The trend throughout history has been an ever increasing in education, this is the answer.

What Carl Sagan states about the human species becoming a danger to itself is also stated within 'Deep Truth', which I feel is a profound and inspiring book. In layman's terms, Braden speaks of how the tools of transformation are ultimately in our hands and that working as a community will be the method of restoring ourselves and everything we hold dear.

@ciaranoc I am deeply moved by all seven of the sagan-series videos....and I don't have a soul. But no worries, neither do you. The more I learn about the way the universe works, the more alive I become....and discarding the myth of the soul has been part of the process. ;)

@damewse Of course it's a matter of point of view... Nuclear energy is considered renewable and environmental friendly by many scientists including Sagan. France happens to be the global leader in this case.

Society is a movement, an expression of a collective psyche. We define it, and it defines us. How we act is how we think. The two are not separate or isolated.

@DZMOST It's like convection. The intellect is repressed at first but soon because of their intellect, it rises to the top, and the herd which once mocked it follows behind them in their wisdom. Then comes the dominance of the intellect. It becomes the status quo until time passes and it's ego again fades to the bottom of the convection. However as he falls, a new intellect rises from the bottom. The remaining herd at the top now represent closemindedness as they too fall. Its a cycle of change

You could detonate our entire world and on the whole, would barely register and that's only if another species that hadn't destroyed itself, discovers whatever we left behind. I'm not saying go out and detonate the world in order to make any kind of universal impact, rather realize that nothing really matters, don't sweat the things that lessen your enjoyment of our fleeting time here, and have as much fun as you can without pissing people off
