Today I want to discuss Kaizen, which is a Japanese word meaning “good change.” Kaizen is understood as a means for incremental continuous improvement.
To use Kaizen you must believe two things: one that it is possible to change and improve. And two, that you can begin making changes today.
Let me provide you with five steps in your improvement journey.
One: standardization. Identify something you want to improve and then develop an organized process that you can repeat each day.
Second: measurement. You must be able to measure what you are doing, otherwise you won’t know if what you are doing is working.
Third: comparison. Compare your measurements to your goal.
Fourth: innovation. As you work through these steps, look for faster and better ways to improve. T
Fifth: repetition. Go back to step one. The key is continuous improvement, so never stop looking for better ways of doing things.

If only I'd seen this video 3 hours ago. Someone whose job is unloading trucks got upset when I suggested it's possible to improve how they currently do it (a team of people put the boxes onto rollers, like an assembly line). Engineers could study the process to find a more efficient process. I could cite points mentioned in this video about the kaizen method or the Thomas Edison quote.

Except it is Chinese. People may argue that Kanji (which literally means Chinese character) is part of the Japanese language, it does not negate the fact that 改善 is Chinese.

Just because is written in Kanji doesn't mean that the method is Chinese lol
