Thanks Steve ! I am Master falconer from NM….now retired in Costa Rica ..Flew lots of birds for over 60 years . Spoke many times with Dave by phone and he made favorite hybrid , an imprint tiercel gyr / peregrine . I flew Goose for 8 years and will always remember my adventures with him on chickens and ducks .. He was special ! Never got the opportunity to meet and thank Dave for making me the most remarkable falcon I ever owned . Those memories last a lifetime . Thanks so much

Thanks Steve for the videos documenting some of the "fathers" of modern falconry. We owe so much to them and you.

Thanks for the memories Steve…names and people I haven’t seen or talked too for over 30 years. Trips and camps to place’s like Jeffery City, WY. The Big Medicine Bowl of WY, grouse camp with Lance Marrow in September, the TX sand flats trapping passage Peregrines or Fisherman’s Island on the Eastern Shore of VA trapping and banding all kinds of passages and the best times laying on the beach with a bushel barrel over the head and catching Peregrines by hand…good times and good memories. Cheers~

Hi Steve... Toby Baptiste here son of Steve Baptiste... I remember Dave so well and my brother Matt still is in touch with him. I also remember many of the fine gentleman mentioned here. As a young boy we would go to Dave's house often where I would fawn over Dave's beautiful teenaged daughters...lol. Dave and my father were partners for many years and great friends for life. I watched my father collect sperm and inseminate many females. My fathers hybrids were some of the most amazing falcons ever bred. Over the years my dad either incubated or let the mothers sit and hatch out many many young falcons which we raised and imprinted. The long weeks when my dad flew to Saudi Arabia were stressful as Matt and I were in charge of the ranch and caring for the falcons.. I tell you what it was a cool day when the Prince of Saudi Arabia came to our home. My love for Falconry will never leave me thanks to my father and Dave.

Hi Toby! Your dad was a good friend of mine an amazing man, falconer and Breeder of falcons! When I first met him he lived on Oxford street in Sparks.

As a former falconer who matured and lived through that "grey period" so much has gone unsaid. Depending on who one knew or associated with it was both the best of times and the worst of times to be a young falconer. David was one of the lucky ones!

At 12:56 the picture of our front yard in Palomino Valley... the days and weeks we spent digging out rocks and hauling manure from the Mustang sanctuary were grueling but that lawn came out spectacular... as a young boy I thought I was living in an after school special tv series when I would come to visit my dad and brother Matt.

@@stevesomach Very sorry to hear that Steve. I feel that Les didn’t get the recognition he deserved with regards to his contribution to the captive breeding of raptors, and in particular falcons. The techniques and ideas he developed are now used the world over and yet so many do not know his name.
