- After almost 7 years of development, the AP-PRO Team finally released TRUE STALKER, their brand new Stalker Mod. And so far it's not disappointing: brand new story with fully voiced characters, cut scenes and cinematics, completely revamped locations, beautiful fully redesigned new UI and interface, and so, so much more. The amount of work that's been put into it is truly impressive.
I've been having a blast with it so far and can't recommend it enough!

By default the game will install in /Program Files (x86). If you install it there you'll have to run the game as administrator or you might have issues saving your games. You can change to any other location of your drive.
Besides this just extract everything in the same folder, run the installer and you're good to go. Doesn't get easier than that!

I'm like 20ish hours in and I just got to chapter 3. I am absolutely loving every minute of it. This mod feels like a mainline entry made by GSC, but with a modern UI and lots of baked in QOL changes. They did an absolute stellar job!
UI is actually terrible and not fitting the atmosphere of stalker, looks like generic Unity game UI, gamma/anomaly etc. UI is much better and fitting.

The reason you need to run the game in administrator mode is because you install the game in program files (x86). If you install it anywhere else, you can run it normally, everything will be saved.

game is so realistic that even in game Ukrainians are taking bribes :D I remember visiting Prypiat with a guide before war and in bus they told us its good to have 5-10 dollars in change for ''security guards'' so they will be more nice and let you enter here and there @@B.L.I.N.O.V.

This mod is amazing. I hope it gets a lot of attention. We need high quality story mods to represent the stalker franchise instead of letting mods like Anomaly, EFP and GAMMA do that.
The stalker franchise has aged like milk thats why its not so popular
there are no high quality story mods in stalker. Its all either edgy or middle school tier writing. Can't talk about EFP but Anomaly is the natural evolution of the series. And Gamma just modernises everything.
I am tired of all the airsoft veteran milsim shit, STALKER was never about that, STALKER had a good story and lore too

Dont like it really. Graphics is too bright and cartoonish, but you quickly die like in anomaly. A lot of running from side to side cordon. Interface is new but not fast and informative. LOL 6:20 I killed that bandit on the first meet near tunnel, and didnt have this ambush.
I hope people start making guides for all the hidden stuff soon, True Stalker really rewards exploring by hiding weapons and supplies in out of the way places
I learned this through GAMMA you find stuff everywhere in every wooden box too. It's a little too rewarding sometimes haha. But this mod is so damn good for OG stalker players

@@r3v4n21 I'm not comparing it at all I mean that you find a lot of useful items by looking around which Is amazing. But since I've played GAMMA for so long True Stalker is so easy In comparison. True Stalker is so damn professional it boggles my mind. But it's very liberal with its resources
@@r3v4n21 yeah, it was especially nice finding something as useful as a freaking suit after breaking one of the boxes in a Dark Valley, i was really surprised, and there seems to be almost every time something useful, like rare ammo (9x39, AP 556 and 545, 5.7), medkits or even guns, the only problem for me was finding gun attachments, because the first time i tried to trade with gun smuggler (who's in a train depot on a second floor) he didn't have anything to trade and i thought he won't in the future and only when i saw on one of the streams that he sells it i was like "wow, i'm probaly 2/3 way through and i didn't know that"
@@r3v4n21 Because Gamma as became the standard it took the place of Anomaly who took it from Call of Chernobyl so of course people will compare them but yeah True Stalker feel more like the base game when it come from exploring you get rewarded instead of just needing to destroy any box you see
The UI, especially the inventory menu is super bulky and outdated. It looks like something out of a console RPG. The PDA was much nicer in my opinion and I like being able to see the world while in my inventory without the screen being shrouded. Even the character dialogue on the HUD looks like its just ripped from some generic Ubisoft shooter, the PDA notifications were part of the game feel IMO.
This is a more accessible stalker experience, i think its a breath of fresh air for new stalker fans who want a more modern experience but dont want the ball crushing experience of gamma or efp
3:25 Have the current generation STALKER players never played the vanilla games? Because no, there was no PDF fiddling or mutant skinning in the vanilla STALKER games.
People really need to stop jumping straight first into shitty mega-mods like Analmeme or Gamma.
Anyway, the mod looks pretty damn good. Finally a NON-sandbox mod, that brings a new story! That's what made STALKER trick, what made it big and popular in the first place.
Not sure I dig the UIX though. It's similar console-style lists on top of lists crap as seen in many Ubisoft games. Feels like a similar downgrade as going from Witcher 1 to Witcher 2 and 3.
Also protip: stop going on and on and on about "it's definitely different! it may not please everyone! I don't personally care! It's different btw, did you know?? :DD". It's annoying, repetitive filler. Stick to the topic, demonstrate new feats, or just play the game. Show, don't tell, and pick a side.
What I played so far is nothing short of amazing. However after approx. 10-15h of playtime, it's getting a bit stale tbh. The missing A-Life and too linear progression are the biggest downsides as of now. If this can get fixed with mods in the future, this could become the best Stalker mod ever. Maybe include some of the CoP maps too, really would love to see these maps get the same treatment as the SoC\CS maps that are in the mod already. But quality wise they did an awesome job and I will still continue playing because of this.

Gamma feels like it just makes anomaly more fun to play through while True Stalker fells like a completely new game!
Gamma makes anomaly less fun to play unless you disable a large portion of the mods in it
@@Lronhoyabembe Depends on the type of player imo, I struggle with gamma and dislike it because it's super anti-new player by it's nature of being a far more in-depth modpack, though I cannot disagree gamma is great for a certain type of player.
anomaly feels like just enhanced stalker, while anomaly GAMMA is just tarkov made even more difficult with strange mod choices imo, the save only near campfire sucks.

I just hope that people who play Anomaly/Gamma won't be comparing them too much. I mean, yeah, it's a stalker mod, ofc it's gonna be compared, but the main purposes of them are comepletely different. They can both be enjoyed for different things.
GAMMA is still superior. These games are not well suited for story stuff. Roguelike full open world with nothing blocking your progress and making it so you can go anywhere you want is best.

ive been playing it and enjoying the hell out of it, but god forbid you make an oopsie during the first artifact quest.
I forgot to stock up on anti-rad, ran out of health. so i was rushing back to Sid to buy health items to clear the rad..
Fighting the confirmation screen in order to buy items fast enough before death was an experience.
every second stuck in the trade menu was draining my health fast and for it to cancel the trade because i didn't click confirm would have me just die

I think the hardest thing to replicate in a Mod like this is the A-life/AI. And honestly the A-life system is the most memorable thing in Stalker. I know some Stalker mods in other games but honestly the AI can't come close to the one in Stalker.
But Overall this is a really cool Mod. Good Job on the Developer.

i prefer the more gameply centered approach over the tediousness and pseudo realism of mods such as anomaly or gamma. i don't play games that often anymore and i don't have the capacity to remember all sorts of crafting recipes, and super in detail mechanics. i just want a game where i can immerse myself for a couple hours and get some progress story and narrative-wise, instead of grinding for some junk items for hours on end.
It's like they made a Metro campaign within Stalker & added modern UI/ map. Really interesting.
True Stalker was a cool experience. Tho I heavily disliked the story after the "twist" in the final chapters, felt like I did alot for nothing. Also the ending I got was awful, no military man would fall for any of that.

People will do literally anything other than play STALKER
"gloomy" is not "stalkery". This understanding only new players have who have tried misery and other mods based on it advertised as a full stalker experience. The original was this colorful with lush summer vibe, and it was the intended style. A paradise fill with horrors.
Exactly just like the book and the novel that it was heavily influenced by "Roadside Picnic", still don't understand why people are so obsessed with Stalker being a "gloomy" and "dark"

This one of the few cases RUclips algorithm did a golden suggestion. The ApPro video of True Stalker was recommended to me by RUclips 2 hours after it was uploaded, I have been playing the game since the 22 December. Man I love it, it gave me the same feeling SoC gave in 2007, outstanding work. Then I saw it here and since I do not skip any of Cheeki videos I am excited you saw the mod as well.

But wanted to share this one quickly before leaving for the holidays, it's really worth trying!
The STALKER games are a cult classic, especially in East Europe without any modding, but the modding scene for them is just legendary. I've been having a blast with LFO for Clear Sky, Radiophobia for Shadow of Chernobyl, Lost Alhpa and after I finish Call of Prypiat ( weapon pack 3.4 ) its time to play this.
I am 100% sold, especially since it has a proper story. I never really liked the style of Call of Chernobyl or the hard core Gamma or Anomaly.
As a classic Stalker fan 1 hour in I like it a lot more than Anomaly
Just beat the mod, it was amazing, definitely worth your time.
yeah the UI does leave a weird first impression. I don't doubt that it functions just fine, but it does have the misfortune of resembling (at least at first glance) a lot of the AAA open world slop from the past decade. which, of course, says nothing about the overall quality of the mod as a whole. and I've got to say, it does look *really* cool. I love the anomaly-based sandboxes people have created, but something more focused and story-driven is a really appealing change that I'm excited to explore.
I don't understand why is the downloader just blank white paper for me, I can't do nothing with it...and it's same on every site....

I understand the possible complains about the mod not being as immersive as Gamma but... It True Stalker. The original stalker didn't have tons of animations for everything, immersive UI everywhere, realism and survival like Gamma does and it doesn't look like stalker 2 will have it. If anything, Gamma feels more like a separate game while True stalker feels, well, like a mod or a spin off of Call of Pripyat, with the same gameplay and similar atmosphere. Just with more production value.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is coming out in November in the States, and I'm feeling that old itch slowly coming back. Right now I'm playing Atomic Heart and Fallout: London, but I think I may roll this into my coming weekend. I'm a big Anomaly fan and loved Lost Alpha, so any big standalone S.T.A.L.K.E.R. project is right up my alley.
This is a weird error. My game won't start at all, even though I disabled my virus protector.

I downloaded the files from Google Drive but Windows flags the installer as a potential threat. Idk if I should commit to it or back-door extract the installer files with a 3rd party program to prevent potential threats 🤷🏼♂

I would've sincerely loved to play True Stalker, but even after installing all the latest patches (yes even patch 5) and running the game for the first time, the consistent crashes have made the game unplayable, two of the very first few quests cause crashes that hardlock me out of progressing no matter how many times I restart my game, upon picking up the artefact for gobber in the transmutation quest I get insta crashed every time, and after picking up the dynamite for fanatic and I go anywhere near the top right of the cordon map (where the mutant lair I need to plant the dynamite is) I get an instant crash too.
Really really disappointing.
After all those years, finally someone is polishing up that late 2000's menu and interface. God damn it's about time. Hardcore stalkers need to understand not every player needs 100+ menu options and sliders to enjoy the game, we just wanna jump in and play it. This is what I always wanted for Stalker to improve on: Don't make everything too clunky & overly complicated. It's just a game, not a Chernobyl simulator. Geez...😅

This game looks and feels like an early build of STALKER 2 that never was! I think what staves people off from mods like these that make bold changes is the offset of an unfamiliar way of interacting with a familiar world. I've never been finicky about drastic UI changes (apart from the PDA) as I always believe the soul of STALKER is imbued with the Zone itself.
So basically this is like a new Stalker game. Anomaly/GAMMA are basically remasters, taking what already exists and improving it, while True Stalker takes what exists and creates a new experience, revamping everything for a new and modern take on old Stalker... sounds interesting.
I have a problem with this mod and need help. When I trye to leave the cordon map despite finishing all quests from Sidorovich I get the massage the the PASSAGE IS BLOCKED. What should I do?
Whatever your thoughts, the scope looks bananas. How have I not heard of this??

Everyone and everything are shadowed by Anomaly and Gamma nowadays making little to no space for other productions.
Let's change it and make people aware of different way of modding stalker!
Honestly, after finishing the game I will say only one questline was ANNOYING and the only real complaint across the game is the sheer amount of "go here, then go here" that runs rampant in it. The overall gameplay was amazing (I played on Master on my first playthrough) and I never felt that there was too high of a difficulty nor too low all the way through. Most quests and characters accommodate the choices the present (minus one) and generally do eventually mash up/show results later on.
Overall, True Stalker was fantastic. Very minor tweaks would make it even better, but overall it stands on its toes on parity with the OG trilogy of STALKER games despite being a mod. And it is a tad bit focused on supernatural, but that's a taste issue and nothing is "impossible" as far as the Zone goes.
Definitely not a replacement for GAMMA or Raidiophobia 3 but a nice change of pace, love the dialog options and the maps. The world really feels lived in now. I think this is my new recommendation for first time new STALKERS to get in the zone.

The only thing I don’t like, is that some features are removed. I want a really polished Gamma experience but with features form Ns and Op 2.2 like it just makes sense to be able to throw shit into anomalies and create artifacts… and having no item in your pack that’s not useful is absolutely insane. Gamma wants to feel like that the way the weapons break down but it always ends up with 200 gun parts I’ll never use…
New different-taste modpack comes out, everyone instantly shits on all the big modpacks. lol Why do people have to get so fanatical about it, just enjoy it and let others enjoy whatever they enjoy. If you dont like Gamma etc, ignore it and move on and find your go-to and stop harping. We dont need more toxicity in the wholesome community. Stalker at this point can be any way you want it if you put in your own time modding it. So...how can you complain? If you dont like something, change it so you do. Or find another free modpack that is equivalent to an entire game. That is free and highly customizable 😂

It looks like a completely different game. Personally I don't like the way it looks at all but I grew up with the original so I am biased with nostalgia. The gameplay looks completely different too. Bear in mind I still think S.O.C is the best game in the series by far because it has the best immersion and gameplay for me.
Mod is boring to play, too much running back and forth, main character is literally dumb and the mod is badly optimized. I don't see 7 years of development in it, props to the artist though
tl;dr: from what i get - its not another Tarkov (or do you people call it Gunslinger?) copycat, which is already great

This is a great mod for newcomers, feels like something out of farcry or fallout but i do get why some people wouldn't like it. For me this is a unique Stalker experience since i love Fallout.
There is NO WAY that they added the Carpenter's Hut in this mod. That is actually peak.

Feels well polished and smooth for a mod. Story telling and dialog is really bad though. It takes a lot of tedious back and forth missions to progress

The mod has a great UI and is pretty good in the first location and impressive in the first hour. But after that it gets worse and becomes literally classic running here and there but with some cutscenes and stuff.
I like how it looks and seems to play great, but I'll wait until there's a UI mod because I cant stand it.

I've completed the mod. It was amazing, absolute masterpiece. The story is top notch, the ending is very stalker-like. Wolfstalker wrote a great tale of the zone.

lack of fast travel is really annoying in that mod, constantly wasting time on travel same route with same mutants spawn at the same location all the time, mod has big potential but needs polishing

Finally happy to see a mod which is not hardcore not based on anomaly. But is similar to the original games. We need more mods like these to represent the stalker community not gammar or efp they are not stalker games.
Theres a lot of similar mods, but thay are rarely getting that much polish or even English translations. Some like Winds of Time or Partial Anomaly are really cool. Or SFZ Project (although this one is just two short chapters, but one of most atmospheric pieces of Stalker like ever)

@@mubasharhassan1211 Only the western stalker community is so obsessed with insert latest freeplay mod, hell most don't even seem to know Anomaly is just a sub sub mod based on Call of Chernobyl which itself was heavily built around mods from Clear Sky. The eastern stalker community is all about story mods AP-pro is a great place for those sadly due to lack of interest most eastern based mods are in Russian/Ukrainian and your lucky to get a machine translation to english.
GoldSphere is a fun mod that did get a hand translation to english, it is unique as the story/atmosphere is set early on in the zone before it was filled with humans and thus instead of fighting bandits your mostly dealing with mutants and much more dangerous anomalies.
@@chrisrawr6177 yeah i have noticed this myself. The Eastern community of stalker is much more diverse in terms of modding they just don't play the same mod for the 50th time. They try other mods as well and their mods are also very unique as well. I have played some of them and they were really well made sadly they don't recognize here' in the Western community's.
