@MrCbolden i am not sure what you are asking to be honest but the dtxplorer comes along with a hi-hat controller pedal so that you could control open and closed hi-hat. please let me know if you have any further questions. cheers.
there is a signal generated in the computer software for you to be able to process it. by software i am referring to cubase in that sense. there are several other major ones like protools, reason, cakewalk, ableton etc. fulfilling different needs of a user on any experience level. some have complex user-interfaces and features but the basic concept/goal remains the same; sound recording and editing with a computer. cubase can be used to adjust levels an many parameters that affect the sound of
hey there. thank you for your question and no problem about it being huge as well. İ am so glad to be able to consult in any way possible. for starters yes you are absolutely right. you computer specification is another importatnt parameter with regard to latency. you can see my detailed config. in my profile page. comment section is limited unfortunately. i cannot recall my latency value exactly so I might have to check that when I get home. but no problems so far.
thanks. i am glad you liked it. unfortunately i noticed long after that I made a mistake there with the DTX thing but to be honest was too lazy to change the video overlay and left the video name to be consistent with it. ;) mistake to the end. but thanks anyway. cheers
hey thanks! I am glad you have found it interesting and worth commenting on. m-audio fast track pro usb is an external sound interface. normally an onboard pc sound card (or an internal one for that matter) is not built for sound production requirements and low latency sound recording and monitoring. so m-audio is a brand that is on an ecomomy-performance optimized segment. latency is a term that is used to address the time between you produce a sound with an instrument and
thank you very much. I am glad you like it. the answer to your question is unfortunately none. you cannot add extra pads to the yamaha dtxplorer that is why i have changed it to a one tom setup in order to use the two cymbal pads two crashes and one tom pad as a ride. sorry to give you bad news ;) but is is a nice set in terms of price/perfromance. cheers
@seanlolsean hey there! i am glad the video had inspired you somehow. i am using a microsoft xp pc with m-audio fast track pro usb sound interface connected to the drumset with a standard midi cable and i am using cubase sx3 as the host software to do recordings. cubase is certainly not a must but i find it easier to use. it is not possible to describe my entire setup, why and what alternatives through here so i would recommend to search the forums for ideas on what would suit you best. cheers
@ltcurry addictive drums is a drum plug in for triggering drum sounds from your pc or mac via processing midi signals from the drum brain to your sound interface and costs about 250-300 dollars as far as I am concerned. in short by using addictive drums like software, you are able to get more realistic drum sounds and dynamics than the ones built in on most drum sets. hope this helps.
i am using an M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB and Cubase connected to the dtx via midi. i record the drums and export it to an audio mixdown. unfortunately my panasonic dv-camcorder doesn't have a line in to record the audio output directly so i then add the exported track to the video and sync the music with video. the second part's audio is directly from the dv-cam mic as you may already have noticed the difference as I was replaying the track I have recorded, from cubase. hope this helps. cheers
@Hellscream90 with sound interfaces like the m-audio fast track pro usb i am using, signal processing and sample triggering is pretty much handled all in the device itself within its own processing units (kind of like a cpu of its own) and through its own asio drivers that are especially designed for that purpose, so that you could have the ability to play and record in near "realtime" due to lower latency capabilites. hope this helps. cheers.
hey there. many thanks for dropping a line here. i do agree with you that AD sounds pretty realistic and definitely gives a better taste of drumming in terms of feeling and yes basic midi files do sound digital. cheers.
:) well it is surely a matter of taste, practicality, choice and playing habits. there isn't a "right" way of doing it. that's why I love music. technique and rudimental knowledge aside, it is so personal. thanks for dropping a line here. cheers
hey there! i am glad you like the video. I am a strict pc user and running cubase, i can only talk about the fundementals of intrument>midi>computer but the rest is basically dependant on your knowledge of your gear. if you have connected your gear correctly and receiving midi signals in logic pro when you hit pads of your yamaha please send me a pm and we can walk through from there. I would be very glad if I could be of any help. Cheers!
@xmenbloo hey there, well you should keep in mind the set itself doesn't sound like this at all. these sounds are triggered from my pc using Addictive Drums so yes you could say it was an enhancement but not to the set itself, but more of an operational one. hope this helps. cheers
your drums but mostly it is done from the module itself or the plug-in you use to trigger the sounds from for a better playing/recording feeling. but once you get down the notes (the drum parts for the drums to be exact) in cubase recorded via midi(which the audio interface generally has a connection for if it is designed for this purpose) you can edit, tune, tone and most importantly use then in whichever way you are convenient of. hope this helps. cheers.
with regard to pc, probably the most important value to be considered is the ram speed and type. i use 2 gigs of 800mhz kingston rams but my board is compatible with 1333mhz fsb and quad core so i can upgrade to greater speeds and gigs. it is sufficient as of now. i heard of behringer uca202 but unfortunately i have not had the chance to lay hand on it and try so i can't comment on it. cheers.
thank you. i would be more than happy to be able to help in any way. the answer is yes you can download songs without drums in the net. i would recommend looking for that in drummer forums. drummerworld may be the best option to start with if you haven't already come across that. :)
I wonder if ASIO can be downloaded/used with Mac? Otherwise I'm going to only use Pro Tools for recording and get a midi to usb cable w/ laptop. If that even works without a separate interface.
I am liking the Yamaha DTXplorer but I am confused on how you would sound the Hi-Hat to open and close it. I want to buy this but I wanted to know if you can answer my question for me?
Great drumming! I am considering getting almost the same setup. I'm selling my old audio interface so I can get one with midi. How much extra cymbals/toms can you attach to the module?
hey, im having some trouble getting my kit hooked up to addictive drums. i have the dtxplorer, addictive drums, and fl studio. i have searched the internet hight and low and havent found a clear tutorial on how to get my kit hooked up. i was wondering if you could PLEASE post a tutorial on how to get it hooked up. i would really appreciate it if you could do that because i am really stuck and want to get it hooked up!
hey there! apologies for the delay in response. I have included some screenshots and a couple of my midi maps that i trust you would find useful and sent a mail to your email address. should be in your inbox momentarily. please do not hesitate to contact me if you would have any further questions. cheers.
@xmenbloo well, do not wait for me for that :) as someone posted this yamaha original dtxplorer promo from the yamaha web site so that you could have a taste of the original sounds and featured that comes onboard. ruclips.net/video/ajX1Yx5aXdU/видео.html cheers
If you have tried.. which one to you seems better? roland td series or this kit? I mean, I'm a guitarplayer who recently started drums. But cannot afford kits like rolnad td-12 etc. And this one sounded amazingly good compared to roland td-4 etc.. for its half price. What do you think I should do?
many thanks for your response. :) I am glad you like it. well, honestly I think you would definitely need an audio interface as in most cases the sound card that comes along with the pcs cannot handle this task without performance issues. it is possible with MIDI and usb and you should definitely try it out see how it works for you. you can drop me line at tolga.pala(at)gmail(dot)com so that i may help you in detail. cheers.
@Hellscream90 hey there! sorry about the delay in response so i'll get right to the point. as you might imagine, there isn't such thing as 0 delay but the delay should not exceed acceptable limits for you to be able to play comfortably as if there is no delay at all. i am suspecting it could be because of 2 things. one of which is more likely. you are depending on your pc's sound card which is not designed to handle this or let's say it could with certain limitations. [second comment]
Hey man, can you help me with a issue? When I tried to connect my Dtxplorer module to my laptop using MIDI to USB cable, addictive drums doesn't respond when I hit the pad even though it recognized the cable. I've been trying for days now.
Hey there. It has been quite a while since I last responded to a question here but I'll try to answer the best way I can without having too much information to work with. :) MIDI2USB cables may not be the best way to go to be honest but if you are on a budget and you must use it, I would recommend to check your MIDI2USB cable itself, your MIDI cable and your ASIO driver functionality(not necessarily in that order). With that being said, before you get sounds from Addictive Drums, you should be able to see a signal in the visual indicator in your DAW(Cubase, ProTools etc.) whenever you hit something on your drums. If you see the signal (would be an indicator that your cables and driver are somewhat functional) but not getting any sound from AD, that could be because of your VST instrument setting or I/O routing. VST being your ASIO driver (e.g. ASIO4ALL) and I/O being what signal for that particular midi channel input is and what VST instrument should produce the sound as an output. Sounds complicated when put in writing but fairly straightforward actually once you get a hold of it. I would recommend checking related discussion boards as the could also have sample screen captures to guide you through your issue. In any case hope this helps to provide some perspective on the matter. Cheers.
i am not 100% sure i understood the question but an edrum shouldn't be detected as game controller harware. i can safely say there is definitely something wrong there. how did you try to connect it to your computer?
Ooh! Just what I needed :O:O:O Gimme gimme gimme xD Nah, let me put it otherwise: Would u please mail me these instructions too? :] I'd be very thankful :D Nice setup you got there too, I'm planning to do exactly the same thing, but I haven't got an idea of what kind of keyboards I would take (I've got the DTXplorer already). Could u give me a hint on what kind of keyboard is good for midi-recording in cubase? Greetings!
@cololoco you would need to map it correctly to get the right sounds they way you expect them to trigger. if you are a cubase user i can share with you a couple of my mapping variations so that you can use them without needing to do it yourself. drop me a mail to tolga.pala(at)gmail(dot)com if you would like to have those. cheers
Hey there. thank you very much for dropping a line. if you could mail me all your questions and what you need to tolga.pala(at)gmail(dot)com i would be glad to be of any assistance. cheers.
@Tom17Talent hey! it sounds like you are experiencing the two most common issues with electronic sets. latency and midi mapping. :) if you could drop me a line at tolga.pala(at)gmail(dot)com i might be able to help further. cheers
hey there! i can send a detailed mail on "how to" or send a couple of my maps if you could drop me a mail at tolga.pala(at)gmail(dot)com so that i can reply back to you with attachments. please let me know how would that work for you. cheers
