well you've got it setup perfectly. It sounds awesome. One day I will get one of those drum kits. I have an Alesis dm6 usb that is use with AD. I would like to here a drum cover though.
Hi Laurdess - I don't know why it doesn't let me reply directly to your comment...Anyhow, hopefully you'll see this response. I used Reaper and ASIO4ALL (both free) before I got my Mac. There are also some really lightweight programs that will host Addictive Drums virtual instrument, and I used those successfully for a short time as well - I can't recall the name of them at the moment. The ASIO software was to help reduce latency, which I definitely needed. Hope this helps! Thanks!
+Cody Townsend Hi Cody - yes - the sound all comes from Addictive Drums, not the Yamaha module. Addictive Drums is being triggered via MIDI from the drum module. Thanks!
Hey Jon! I recently bought a DTXtreme iis and haven’t been able to get it to connect to addictive drums. Is there any mode I have to go into on the module for it to register MIDI? Or should it trigger MIDI as long as the cable is in? Thanks!
hey jon, great clip that was easy to understand. I have a question for you. I am looking at buying one of these kits dtxreme 11s with a 100w amp in excellent condition from a mate and the only other competition is a brand new yamaha dtx542k with the silicone pads. I prefer the older kit and the only concern is the module packing it in and can later modules be used on the 11s or would I need to track down a 11s or can a 111 be used on it? the kit will only be used as a practice kit, with no recording and possibly the odd rehearsal to muck around on when jamming with my band. thanks for your time.
+The Deans of Soul (The Deans) Thanks - most modules can handle most pads, especially when they are same mfg, however, you typically lose some functionality/capabilities with the older modules, as the III for example has many newer capabilities than the IIs. If you're going to be triggering something like AD, either module will do a good job. Enjoy!
I didn't hear how you got the background music to play. With EZ drummer all I get is the drum sample but won't let me play other music off my laptop at the same time. Using EZ as a stand alone. No DAW,
Hey Joe - hopefully it is not a limitation of your laptop sound card (I doubt it unless it's a super low quality laptop). I use a MacBook Pro and can hear the drum sample software and other music I play on the laptop at the same time. This video was 6 years ago - I now use Reaper and have my audio track and drum software plugin in Reaper and simply record all in Reaper. Reaper is free for personal use, so if inclined, you could also give that a shot. If you don't want to go through all that, you might simply need to look at your sound settings in your laptop's operating system and see if you can get music and your EZD samples to play at the same time. Hope this helps, enjoy!
@@jon325 Thanks for replying. It's an HP but 5 or 6 years old. I use a usb audio interface and plug my headphones in there. EZ drummer with the asio may be maxing out my sound card. Perhaps I'll try a DAW. One guy suggested buying a mixer but seems it should all be easier than that!
No prob - make sure your audio output is configured in Windows Sound Settings to use your usb audio interface. That may be why you’re only hearing EZD. Enjoy!
hi!!! please i need your help! i have a DTXpress 4, cubase and a midicable...nothing more...what else should i need? im trying to find it for years! =( thanks!
Hi Gabriel - I'm not sure if the DTXpress 4 module has a USB port - you might need a MIDI to USB cable in order to connect the DTXpress 4 module to the computer. Nearly all modules at least have MIDI ports. Good luck!
At the time I bought, several years ago now, my DTXtreme IIs kit, used, was around $1500 and Addictive Drums was $100. I got a crazy good deal on my macbook pro from my employer, which I also use for this setup. In case you are only asking about the Addictive Drums software, it currently sells for $169 (less if an upgrade).
Very helpful video ! Thanks!

Thanks - I do have a couple Porcupine Tree covers using AD on my channel - any particular song you'd like to hear it with?

+jon325 Hello. Do you always have to have additive drums connected to the kit for that sound or does it save the sound?

I just thought maybe you could upload em into or something. Anyway thanx!

I don't have that module to look at anymore, but I think I recall having to enable MIDI out over USB somewhere in the module settings.

yeah, i have that cable. thats the only tool i have. do you know about a full tutorial? harware, how to map. etc?
is the mix in your AD Drum Kit all default settings?
Pretty much, yes - I think for that video I only kicked up the pitch on the snare a little, but that's about it. Thanks!
What is the price the drums I am not getting it on Internet
