I wasn't born when this song came out, but was aware of it for years. Then one day recently I actually heard it. Wow! I listened to it over and over, focusing on a different element each time - the bass...then the guitar...then the horns...the drums, and of course the voice overarching it all. The slow build up from plaintive lament to full throated anguish - what a well constructed piece of art this song is. Amazing.

Great pre-disco groove, but disco danceable. Nice mantra mix. Spinners go back to 1961. Still relevant in 2021. Basic guitar magic. Memorable. Late nite at club mix. Thanks, Spinners. Almost rap drama. Vive les rock funk, retro, and disco freaks ...
I was 20 years ago when this came out. I was driving in my car it was on the radio, I had to pull over and listen and find out who this group was! That’s how much I loved this song in the music, and it still gets better every time I listen to it! The music of the 70s transcends anything and everything that is there today. That decade made the best of the best!
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! SAW THEM IN EL PASO TEX., THANK YOU STEVIE WONDER AND THANK YOU SPINNERS FOR AN EXCELLENT VERSION!!! WITH LOVE FROM CD.JUAREZ CHIH., MEXICO!!!
That's right for thanking Stevie Wonder . He wrote this for The Spinners when Berry Gordy of Motown was dismissing them, lead vocals by G.C. Cameron who went solo after this song hit the Big Time.... Phillipe' Wyn took over lead vocals when they got signed to Atlantic Records, and the rest is history, can't believe they are not in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame !

One of the best tracks of that era. True classic.
OMG Tell it like it is AMEN! ! This awesome classic just moves your soul in the right direction do you agree? MEMORIES WOW! !
I like this wonderful vintage music 🎵🎵🎵🎵 very much, it reminds me of my child days 😇🙏🙂💯❤️🥅⚽🏃🤸🎹🎷🎺🎸🪕🎻🪘🥁🪗🎤🎧🎚️🎛️🎙️📻🎼🎼🎼🎼🎵🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶
Amazing.
I was 15 at the time and would go back in a heart beat!
I agree 100% with you my friend! This song was well written and constructed.😎👍
Lord, you're not kidding!
I was 15 @ the time too Jeff. I'd join you in that time machine & go back too !
Very astute observation on your part really appreciating the artistry and craftsmanship. G.C. Cameron the lead singer is singing all the lead parts.
Apsolutely fantastic !! So many great memories. Certainly brought a smile to my face 🕺💃💙
OMG Linda I agree with you all the way on those comments 🎯 A blast from the past good ode days I was in my twenties carefree 👸💖😛🎊💥🥳🥰💃💯🙏💕This is what true talented sounds like 💯💯👌Still listening how about June 15 2022
70s had to be the best time. For disco classics best music by far I grew up in the seventies I'm 63 years old I still listen to all of it greatest times ever
The Spinners they recorded some of the best music
A Priceless piece from a group that never got their just do. Phenominal!
Great pre-disco groove, but disco danceable. Nice mantra mix. Spinners go back to 1961. Still relevant in 2021. Basic guitar magic. Memorable. Late nite at club mix. Thanks, Spinners. Almost rap drama. Vive les rock funk, retro, and disco freaks ...
Absolutely beautiful. I have the 45 and I play it all the time.
Thanks for the Music ..The Spinners (It's a Shame!) AWESOME ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One Of My Favorite Songs From One Of My Favorite Groups I Was 16 Years Old When This Came Out
My #1 song of all time...
I was 20 years ago when this came out. I was driving in my car it was on the radio, I had to pull over and listen and find out who this group was! That’s how much I loved this song in the music, and it still gets better every time I listen to it! The music of the 70s transcends anything and everything that is there today. That decade made the best of the best!
blackprix ABSOLUTELY!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Same here, those were great times. We had nothing, but were happy.
i keep coming back to this one Im 72 yes I was there when Motown came and boy did they kick ass

One Of The Big Hits Of 1970 ! Written By Stevie Wonder. !
Hi Carmen. Let's not forget Syreeta Wright, also a great talent, who co-wrote the tune.
9411OMISSION.....THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW THAT FACT, SURE IS A GREAT TUNE...........AND SHE IS RECOGNIZED FOR SHARING LYRYCS
I still have my 45's ...I have this one...I have just about worn it out.....Love this music ..God we were so lucky to have been raised on our Soul music..I was 16 and I remember where I was when I first heard this...How exciting listening to music was then.....Bravo Spinners.......Love the music....
Do you know how all the members of the group are smiling? They also work together as a group. It's a shame we lost that camaraderie .
"why don't you freeeeeee me from this prisonnnn, I've served my time as your fool". Damnnnnn. What an era for music. I was 3 when it dropped!
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! MEMORIES~!
Memories of music like this so glad I was born when we had music like this in our teens

I can't believe it but I just learned a few days ago that Stevie Wonder wrote this song. It makes perfect sense-Stevie's beautiful lyrics and the Spinners and Funk Brothers killing it. Perfection!
That’d be Stevie on most of the instruments as well. Everything but guitar and bass despite some rumours he did play everything. He also produced the track.
Back to the roots .Just getting on love power. More Stevie wonder.
@@martinwilliams6627 That’s why he is Stevie WONDER
Stevie Wonder was one of three lyricists for this timeless song - The Spinners are what makes it perfect...
One of my all time favs and this mix just enhances the quality of one of the best tunes ever!! I was only 12 in 1972...✨🌟🎶🥂💫⭐💐🙏❤️🌹🥂
I was 20 and I still love this tune!!
so true, they don't make music that comes close to this anymore infact they don't make music now just noisy crap ,,,we where so lucky to grow up with this kind of nourishment, not punishment
I was 5 years old when this song came out and I loved it the moment I heard it.
in the 70's, this song would be playing every morning on the radio. My Dad and I would get to the kitchen about the same time. He would have his coffee while reading the paper. It's amazing how a song can imprint time!
