Yes! Also, how about the moment at 5:05 when he wheels the lifter across the open floor joists? 😳 Usually his unsafe antics don't bother me, but my goodness! I haven't even finished watching the video yet.
Buddy, you made me holler for the first time at the TV!!!! 'NO DAN!' Can we all praise the Lord for you not going down with all that lumber!!!! Dan's guardian angel is working OT.
Two weeks? I'm sure you're going to have that up in a week and a half because you're just that good! Incredibly proud of you over and over again every single video just more proud!
You never cease to amaze me, AND don't go jumping on those beams like that, you will give us all heart attacks, never mind what it will do to you. Luv ya
Have you ever considered how many trips up ladders you make, how many noggins you have made, how much cement you have mixed, how much wood you have bought up to the floors, the amount of metal..the amounts must be incredible..but it's getting you there..what an incredible journey..so proud of yiye achievement ❤
Dan's filming and editing skill's are as incredible as his building skills. To see the cloud's in the sky go by as Dan works... Neither relent, Neither stop. Amazing.
I thought the same. He builds the roof all day, edits documentary quality video and finds just the right music...Surely someone else is sourcing the music!
It's unbelievable how quickly the walls to support the roof are going up and how little adjustment is needed to match the other side. That's a testament to the level of craftsmanship that is goung into the rebuilding of this beautiful chateau. Rock on!
Hi Dan, so good to see the progress, hopefully Nick and Brian are back soon to help you moving those timbers about. Have a great week, see ya tomorra 😊
OMG, the first load that you winched up that wanted to slide back down really had me holding my breath. You were basically sitting in it and I had visions of you ‘riding’ it down to the floor…A disaster waiting. WHEW !!
Gotta love the enthusiasm that is shown here by Dan. When he gets excited it get transferred to us through the lens of the camera. I get excited watching him. Carry on my friend.
OMG, 3:09 You almost gave me a heart attack! 😲 I thought the see-saw effect was going to sling you down to your death! Please be careful! It's looking good - can't wait to see what this looks like by the week end!

This is nothing short of a miraculous transformation! Slogging along, rain sleet, sun and snow .. you've accomplished THIS! Thanks for allowing us all along for the ride!
It's quite incredible how the similar jobs have changed as they are repeated. Dan is learning as he goes along and using that knowledge to his advantage. This is definitely the sign of an adaptable and intelligent craftsman. Well done Dan.
It looks lovely! You've done a fabulous job! I CAN'T wait to see all of the roofs up and the original structure intact. It's already so elegant and graceful. It will be stunning when the rooms are sorted and the windows are in. I can't wait to see it restored to it's former magnificence.
Dan, your castle is shaping up and soon you will be watching the sun rise and set every single day from your balcony, and you will survey all that you've done and the blood, sweat, and tears you poured into Chateau de Chaumont. You'll be an actual whatchamacallit, a compt. Compte de Preston? Anyways, you will be an actual king of your very own castle! I don't comment very often but I have been following your channel for awhile and I am so impressed with your hard work and willingness to go at it day and night, in the sun, rain, or snow, to make this place beautiful again. It's amazing! ❤
Every time I see a drone shot of the house I keep hoping for the day when there isn’t a single green thing growing out of the walls. It’s such an impressive thing to see how far you have come. When I see each new room and think wow that is a massive room. The chateau seems to grow. It won’t be long and all the green things growing on the house will be gone!
Watching these videos has helped me keep a positive attitude while restoring our house. When it’s getting late or I’m tired I think of Dan restoring a whole chateau 😅 cheers!
What I truly love about this channel is there is no” todays sponsor is NordVPN” bullshit. It’s just pure passion and for me meditation. Dans ability to work, film, edit, storytelling is a work of art. Legend!
Could still get to it because youtube’s algorithm. And besides that it makes him acquire more income that would lead to more possibilities and for example tools/personal gear or a new alike project. It may be annoying, just skip it.
Your enthusiasm is contagious Dan! I think you guys should have a special ceremony when the last two shrubs are removed from the front left balcony. Perhaps, if they are usable, they could go into a special place in the garden? Everything looks so good 👍
I LOVE that you are able to use the old shutters. With the timbers in above, and you standing on the floor, it really looks to be on the way! Fabulous work, Dan!! 🎉
Dan , I am watching you do the impossible , yet there you are doing it. I am honored to have been with you from the start and my wish is to see it to the end with you. Outstanding and truely amazing work ! Thank you for this journey.

Congratulations you’re really flying with that roof construction now compared to the first roof it’s unbelievable isn’t it? That all those years ago? When the built it they could get 2/2 almost perfect with each other.
A "like" does not seem sufficient ! 👋👋👌👌🤞🍀Amazing that the measurements are so in sync, what fabulous work by the original builders to have stood the test of time - I'm sure it would be an interesting conversation between them and Dan 😁
Well done for doing the utmost for this burnt down building anyone has ever done for a singular one of the most beautiful buildings anyone anyone has ever created. Thank you for your vision !
MJS Love it , everytime I watch a video of yours I have to smash the like button. One of my favorite channels along with The Pethericks, both of your channels you guys have such a passion on restoring the impossible buildings.
How in the world did the original builders build such a gigantic structure without all your special cutting tools, wrenches, building supply businesses close by, boxes of screws and nails, precise measuring devices, and perhaps no architectural design? It boggles the mind! Simply mind blowing!
Of course they had technical plans. And really good tools, just not electrified, but first and foremost, they had enormous amounts of skill. This building isn’t even particularly old, but if you look into old building techniques, you’d be amazed about how clever people were at the time. I have a deep admiration for old building techniques and try to research and learn as many as I can while renovating old houses. It’s like going on a treasure hunt. It’s today’s techniques that are sub par and probably won’t last half as long as the old stuff.

putting those boards between your legs to pull them was super dangerous - if you lost control and the beams fell into the shaft, at a minimum your junk would get crushed as you were knocked over ; at worst, you could have taken a bareback beam ride down the shaft with them.
Dan, can you attach a come-along to the wall opposite the winch well? That way when you have a load precariously balanced on the top lip edge you could hook on to it, get out of harms way, and mechanically pull it over?
My heart stopped when the first amount of wooden beams almost catapulted him down the staircase
yep, if he had 1 more beam in that bundle or lost his footing it would have ended very bad.
