Fantastic clear video- great explanation. I know firsthand how much research goes into finding out what works for you and the differing advice can be overwhelming. I'm doing all that you are doing except the Wahl's protocol instead of the 'best bet diet.' I am also doing oxygen therapy but until I stop it it's hard to know if it's working. I found Gary Brecka fascinating and did the DNA test. The results show I have the gene associated with MS so I'm now beginning to supplementing with the suggested methylated vitamins- hopefully I'll see the benefits in the coming months. You are 2 years ahead of me on this journey and your positivity and hope has really helped me- thank you.
Ah that's great to hear! But yes I have considered doing the Gary Brecka DNA test too. What Methylated vitamins are suggested to overcome the MS gene? Also were you positive for the MTFR gene? Great to hear that you are doing similar to me, how are you finding Wahl's protocol?
@@tomgarbett77 Yes, I was positive for the MTHFR gene. Methylfolate was a key one for the gene. I also have an issue converting a few other vitamins (mainly vit D and B12) I take a 50,000 IU of D3 and a methylated mutivitamin. I take a few other vitamins as suggested by the report but it's only been 2 days- hopefully I see the benefit in time. I moved from the 'overcoming MS diet' to the Wahl's Protocol. Too early to say if there is any improvement but it seemed more aligned to the vitamins I was lacking. Only thing I'm not sure about is eggs. It's a no on the Wahl's diet. Regardless, I think all the suggested MS diets have their merits. No gluten, no dairy and no sugar are the 3 pillars for me.
Hey Tom, new viewer and I wanted to thank you for sharing your story. I am in the part of the story where the symptoms are all pointing in the direction of MS but we are just waiting for the diagnosis. 29 year old male. Main difference between the videos I've seen on your channel and where I am now is that you were at a much better weight from the jump and I am looking to improve my health. I want to get in front of everything and I am going to go full steam on the Best Bet Diet. I would love to hear exactly what foods, specifically proteins, work best and worst for you. Also, I see at the end they include desserts, do you ever have desserts? I fear that even Gluten, Dairy, and Soy free products seem counter intuitive so I'd love your feed back. Thanks!
No probs, glad you are finding value! 🙏 That' s great to hear that you are looking to get ahead of it and improve your health! Going to benefit your life in the long run like it has mine. But yes I have ended up on somewhat of a modified Best Bet Diet as time has progressed and I've picked up other health knowledge over time. So I actually put quite a heavy focus on proteins and don't shy away from saturated fats anymore - even though it says so in the best bet diet. This is mainly as I have researched and tried the carnivore diet, I am utilising some of the best factors of that diet. Plus Myelin is actually built of Cholesterol, so it makes no sense to me to try to limit animal fats. In terms of dessert I will at special occasions have vegan cream with a complaint dessert, but usually something baked myself that isn't filled with all the other crap. As I agree with you the free from products aren't the best and are heavily processed. So in general I would say just focus on whole foods that are best bet diet compliant and you'll do just great!
I'm so happy for you! May I kindly ask you, why did you stop carnivore ( that's how I found you on the 1 place)? Was the last video about quitting it was also the time you completely stopped? Really curious because about to go carnivore 😅
@@julesyan6353 yes in that last vid I pretty much explain why, but it was quite a few factors really… the cost, lack of variety were the main ones. Also my girlfriend really didn’t want to continue because she struggled more and would be difficult for us to be on completely different diets! Definitely open to trying it again in the future and maybe being scripted without the fruit as maybe that was why I didn’t see the big benefits! Wishing you luck, are you doing it to overcome an autoimmune condition?
The reason they are omitted from the diet is due to the high amount of lectins that are in legumes, which can cause leaky gut and autoimmunity. I do have some videos showing what I eat in a day that you cn check out, but I will try put together a more comprehensive video!
That is strange. So have you been diagnosed and yet your wife is denying it? It can be difficult sometimes which is why it is known as an invisible disease, so maybe that's why.
@@tomgarbett77 She had a Dr. Refer her a year ago... She denies it, and she fell down last year. Vertigo. Memory. Cognitive fog. Apnea. I'm wondering if it's just progressing faster. She was okay until she couldn't smell or taste for 5 months with Covid. Then a rapid change.
It is called the Best Bet Diet for MS. It's worked really well for me and for thousands of others. Definitely worth checking it out and I also have other videos on my channel explaining the diet in more detail. But let me know any questions!
Such great news Tom! So glad you are doing well! It is amazing how diet and lifestyle changes can help. I went 10 years between relapse and am currently on an eight year run with no relapses. I am doing 5 things in addition to my medication; I eat a whole food plant based diet, exercise regularly, try to get good sleep, practice mindfulness, and take supplements under the guidance of my neurologist and naturopathic doctor.
Very happy for you. Thank you so much for your videos!!
Appreciate that! I will keep them coming! What should I talk about next?
Great news!
Thanks Jenny!
You're doing incredibly well! Very happy to hear you are keeping it under control :)
@@__Wanderer thanks! Yep everything I am doing seems to be working 🙏
Well done 👍 Tom great, food is important to heal any type of illness
Agreed! Which is why I put it first on the list as I do believe it is the most important factor. Are you on any specific diet for an illness?

Great to hear. Out of interest what magnesium do you take and at what dosage? There are so many types.

@tomgarbett77 thank you for reply. I have different neurological and autoimmune symptoms, not diagnosed yet.
Do you still take the meds or is it pure looking after yourself now that's helping you?
Why omit soya and chick peas? Can you present an example of a weeks menu that you might undertake please?

MS is so annoying... my wife is confused about it. Denying it. Have you heard of that? Over 15 months now.
