Sausage Party 2: Foodtopia is bad, and makes you wonder why are they making this in the first place? Has Animation, Seth Rogen, and society gone this far?
The ending of the original _Sausage Party_ really leaves a huge pain in my memory. The fact that the movie's sense of "humor" hasn't changed in the sequel is a recipe for disaster.
Sausage Party made me think that Seth's humor is a CIA torture technique. Like, imagine being an ISIS soldier, and instead of getting waterboarded, you are forced to watch this shit for an entire week as your brain rots away...
TLDR - Just watch Smiling Friends instead. Especially after how horribly the workers were treated during the production of Seth Rogen's grocery store fever dream.
Yeah. Not to mention that Smiling Friends series is created by the same guy who made a video _"GET OUT OF MY CAR NOW!"_ Plus, it has tons of Internet references, so that makes the series a veteran from the web.

This genuinely looks worse visually than megamind 2. Like, this is 2000s quality cgi. Side by side, the original movie’s animation is infinitely more charming and expressive. There was no reason this had to be a shitty tv series when sausage party actually did well.

You can be mature and appeal to adults while still having more to you than just the fact that you're not for kids.

Could the lack of quality for animations nowadays be attributed to the high demand of media? If you think about it, animation alone is just ridiculously demanding, and the competition is fierce. Let alone the entire anime genre dominating thanks to the normalization of it. I think there’s just too many streaming services, too many exclusive shows, too much media in general, with not enough resources to go around. I think that’s why examples like this and Megamind 2 are so prevalent in discussions because they came from a time, as recent as it may be, when animation was respected, treated like art, no matter how ridiculous the concept may be.
The difference with 'Adult Animation' between Sausage Party/Hazbin and Smiling Friends is that Smiling Friends uses more adult topics like swearing or references to sex/drugs in a subtle, refined way that feels as human as it's random genuine conversations between characters. It acts as an animation should, aiming to be entertaining, without the shackles of "Oh, well kids are going to watch this and we have to protect their sensitive little eyes so we can't say swears or have any sort of mild sexual reference like kissing." It can use those topics as part of the plot to feel more natural (like, for example, Mustard's relationship with Simon S. Salty, or Charlie getting his nose ripped off) "Adult" Animation is just characters saying swear words and slurs and acting rapey because lol wacky adult animation for ADULTS aren't you ADULTS happy that the KIDS can't watch this animation???
Foodtopia is just Megamind 2…again. Pitiful “sequels” to movies that we are getting way too late in to the time span where we all just moved on and expect the fans of the original to come back and watch this.
