Is John the same John the Baptist? Some people think he was killed.

No, John the Baptist was Jesus’ older cousin (Elizabeth’s son). He baptized Jesus. He was killed because he told King Herod Antipas that it was not right that King Herod married his own brother wife, Herodias. Herod had him jailed for that criticism. Meanwhile the woman in question Herodias wanted the king to kill John instead. But the king refused. So she waited until on his birthday in the presence of guests he called their daughter Salome to dance for him. After dancing, he told her to request anything and he will give it to her. She went to her mom to ask what she should say and her mom said ask for the head of John the Baptist who was imprisoned. The King felt bad about that but he didn’t want to backtrack on his word in front of his guests so he gave the order to behead John the Baptist. (Mark 6: 14-29).
John on here who is Jesus’ disciple didn’t die. He along with James are known in the Bible as the sons of Zebedee. He was the only disciple who die peacefully because he was banished on the island of Patmos and it was from there that he was given the Revelation of Jesus Christ and wrote the last book of the Bible.

@@clarodino very kind to explain. Thank you. I was ridiculed sharing faith facts with two people earlier today, so a little bit of kindness went a far way today. May God bless, and keep, you and yours.

@@arnsnicklefritz9634 I am glad to share. I guess we all need to constantly read the bible. I know most churches have the yearly Bible reading plan. That helps a lot to stay in tune with the bible.
