I come back after not watching Baumi for *YEARS* , and I'm greeted by Baumi saying Valve should let Phantom ASSassin be broken 😭. Who let this man cook? Did he appoint himself as the chef?
I mean as much as I love her getting huge dmg etc,. In the competitive scene or just a Organized 5v5 local tournament and such she gets shut down easily and honestly seeing her be good in TI is a change of pace from the usual.
The 3% bonus chance wasn't why she was so strong, nor was it the big nerf - the issue was that PA had 1.5 sec of unbreakable, unseeable invis to start a fight, on a 10 second cooldown. If she got a kill the ability got refreshed. It was almost impossible for supports to survive that 1.5 seconds, especially since you often didn't realize PA was there or right next to you hitting you until she had already crit you once (obviously different for pros, with better reaction times, but it was miserable dying to something you literally could not see). If she killed you she'd chain kill the next support, since her DPS was so high.
@@Lordofrye It absolutely was the reason why she was so strong. It was previously 15% before that patch, but it got buffed to 20%. That's a 5% increase, but that's not all. Stifling Dagger has double that proc chance (40%), so that's a 25% increase on daggers. What you're talking about, which is Blur-Aghanims combination being OP has been around even when PA was considered weak or at best, mediocre.
@@lenardarceo4410 personally I'm convinced that the blur-aghanims was op but people didn't figure it out - the meta has a tendency to not discover new builds until they get a big buff and people try the hero out. My experience fighting PA during that time was that 1.5 seconds of invincibility often meant supports were dead before they even saw what was killing them. however, the deadly focus buff was pretty significant, also because it meant skilled players could fish up a crit before going in. While I think the aghs was the strongest part, I don't think you're wrong about deadly focus being the thing that pushed her into op territory, reading back through patchnotes. I still don't think the 3% crit chance was what killed her as a carry though.
@@Lordofrye Yeah, previously, that 1.5 seconds of invincibility didn't mean you can kill supports before you're revealed. It was still RNG, but the buff made it guaranteed if you can trigger it with a dagger. But I looked at the patch notes again, and I think you're right. The patch that reduced the crit chance of PA's ult by 3% was the same patch that reduced the Blur Aghs vanish duration by not increasing it by an extra 0.25 seconds and increased the vanish dispel radius. Basically, both her ult and aghs blur which made her OP was nerfed at the same time. What's worse is that in that same patch, other carries like Spectre, AM, and even frigging Chaos Knight was buffed.
Overpowered? No. Annoying because of 2x luck ability though always. PA is a hero that can lose from $3k ahead and win from $3k behind depending on RNG. How fun.
