  • Continuing to hang out with Ron - the owner of 2001 Lincoln Town Car Signature to explore our rides and the best way to do that is just that - go on a ride.
So, in this episode I drive his 01 Signature while he explores my 06 Signature Limited.

The Town Car was a small part of the panther body production. When the steering was changed to rack and pinion in 2003, that was done to improve handling on the Crown Vic - for which 95% were police and municipal sales. The rack and pinion steering had an engineering fitment compromise: it lost ~ 2" of wheel travel vs. the 2002 and earlier. This was not an issue for police issue Crown Vics which were not sold or used as luxury cars - but it was a slight step backward for Town Car luxury ride quality.

As much traveling I've been doing for my company Durham School Services to help drive in other states & cities I've not driven my car as much in the past month since I've been flying. I could've driven to Dallas-Ft. Worth metropolitan area on Wednesday I flew since I'm so used to flying this year. Anyhow geat video.

I appreciated Ron's commentary in this video.
There are features in his 2001 that I wish had been retained in the later version. However, I agree with what he says about the steering being more direct and the extra horsepower noticeable.
Part of the reason for me looking at later model Town Cars, when I bought my 2009, was the fact a Ford engineer told me that they kept advancing the design and I would appreciate the refinements of a later model. I bumped into that Ford engineer here on youtube, and he was gracious enough to engage me in quite a lengthy conversation. A really nice guy from California who had worked at the St Thomas Ontario plant as a production line engineer.
Let Ron know that I am very much like him when it comes to my vehicles, and my nice ones are strictly driven when there is no snow on the ground. They are spring to early fall vehicles only. That Lincoln will last him most definitely until he is 6 ft under as he says. I plan to do the same with my fair weather only vehicles also.
If I ever find the time I will share with you the lengthy list of what my ultimate Town Car would be like.

I had a tremendous great time participating in Vitaliy's series of videos. It's great to get in touch with other fans of what I consider one of the greatest cars to come from the United States.
Whichever era of Towncar you own, there's something special about each of them. I wish I had the means and the room to collect one from each era. I feel lucky to have the one presented here.

What a most amazing video I've ever seen, but I like to prefer both of those Lincoln Town Cars, "2001 Lincoln Town Car 'Cartier L' & 2006 Lincoln Town Car 'Signature L'"! 😎😍🤩🙌🏾💪🏾🎸💖☮✝☯🟢

Yep I'm the same, I take my car to the garage if need service which I took my 2006 Lincoln Town Car to the Lincoln dealer for oil changes plus Lincoln owners get a free wash. When it's time for oil change in my 2017 Lincoln Continental Reserve I'll do the same plus every service gets a free wash & detail. Good thing is I found out that the dealer doesn't see many Continental's in for repairs.

A refreshing change to see the car swap. If you get the chance try a swap with someone who has a 2001 Jaguar Vanden Plas so you can compare British luxury with American luxury.

Hey, I have been watching your vids for a while but had to say this. I am 99% sure this 2001 was bought from the dealership I work for - Boucher Cadillac. I actually found this car for the dealership. We ought to talk sometime. I have a 1993 Lincoln Town Car, a 2005 Cadillac DeVille and a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis.

Hello Christopher! Thanks for watching and the info! Yes, it was purchased from a Boucher dealership, but not sure which one. Sounds like your car taste is very close to mine and I would love the opportunity to meet up and possibly film all 3 :) Please email me: vitaliy0815@gmail.com

Is there really no difference in the Cartier seats? I think they used to be a thicker leather and look slightly different. Who knows for sure?

    • @VitaliyKofman
      @VitaliyKofman  3 года назад +1

Possibly those seats had some piping or something like that/ I think the biggest difference is that Cartier logo stitched on backsides

I have a 99 cartier. My car came with the clock. No pedal adjust, no sun roof. Chrome rims that peel and a half carriage top. Red. Dual exhaust. 239 HP. My 07 Designer has sunroof, power pedals, tach every option but Nav. I'm glad cause I have the premium sound thx. Still sounds great. Love these panthers. Wouldn't take any new auto for FREE for either one unless Lincoln starts making Town cars again. And with this I'm so pissed that they make the continental new but not the Towncar. BS.

Idk I see that from 85 to 95 they sold over 100k more like 150k a year, then from 95-05 50k plus then it dwindled down because of the SUV craze, and gas mpg. Only good ones was the Tahoe, Blazer, Toyota and Honda. Don't see many SUV from 20 years ago, boy do I see alot of Panthers. Those figures are just in US SOLD, not Canada, Over seas etc. I believe if they'd given the 4.6 100 more HP and TQ they'd lasted alot longer. Awd or 4wd is great but I live in the country on a road that I plow or my Father if we ever got any real snow. I run a log skidder with chains and drop blade on dirt road in winter and never had any issues. Few bags of salt in trunk and some knarly winter treads and done fine. Some slipping but fine. With a those other drives they wear tires, breaks, axles etc alot more than out cars. My 99 has 253k and has same bearings as when I got it in 2010 at 114k. Same everything but brakes and rotors and tires. I use ceramic Akebono all way round. Lasts years with well made rotors. Ppl buy the cheapest from Auto advanced O Riley whatever and they're crap. I have an old man with a town car. He spent money on these brakes and rotors and still has same ones from years ago. He only drives about 10 k avg yr but still looks great and has many years of life, others say cheap as possible and they get brakes 2 or more times a year. I wasn't into these cars in my 20s. Trans Am, pony cars was my thing and they didn't last or look as good as my Town Cars. I wish I'd got them at 18. But then they was a Elderly ppls cars, why get that car? If I only knew then what I do now just about Panthers. I did have a 94 Caprice cop car. That thing was a beast and ran so good with a 350. I know they had to change for cost and that but what I wouldn't give to live in another world where Cobain didn't die, Brandon wasn't the big cheese and town cars was still made.

He is very right about the suspension. After 2002 Ford stiffened the suspensions on all Panther Platform cars for whatever reason. They definitely did not ride as velvety smooth as previous years had.

@@VitaliyKofman You should drive a full-size luxury sedan from the 70's. Whole different animal! They were uncompromised luxury (albeit not practical for today's world)! With these they were smaller, and they took into account things like handling, and fuel efficiency, and were trying to attract a younger buyer by making them more modern (read less desirable to traditionalists). Back in the mid-70's before the first round of down-sizing it was just about how comfortable and luxurious they could make them.

So which was the best model overall, 1998-02 or 03-2011?
