I think what's dark is even if E-101 Mk II did not mortally wound Gamma by shooting him there is a thing where he goes over units remaining before the fight. He says "Gamma" which is him. Then he sees the rebuilt Beta flying by and then adds "Beta" to remaining units. Since he is known to destroy the units to free the animals inside he likely is aware that he too is one one of these units. It's likely that Gamma's mission was a suicide mission. Once all units were defeated he would have made himself deliberately self destruct to save the bird trapped in him. He knew he was going to die either way. He knew he had to make that sacrifice and was prepared for it. Beta just sped up the process.
What's even better is that such memorable stories are often retold time and again, despite the fact that writers never make any attempt at plagiarism unless it's blatantly obvious. I like to believe that "a good reader knows no metaphor beyond their imagination and wisdom." In other words, it's often easy to see elements from other stories you enjoyed while currently enjoying another. One case in particular, for me, was when I was playing as Corpo lifepath V in Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time ever. I remember when it was time to confront Adam Smasher, but I was by myself - not with Rogue, the Nomads, etc. It was just me and him: Big Black Powerhouse vs Little Red Riding Hood... Another final battle between "Beta and Gamma..." Adam Smasher VS V... And when I won... I did just what he did: plugged into Soulkiller to let Johnny keep my stuff while I was immortalized, more or less, into Cyberspace... It made me feel happy as a kid. As an adult, it made me cry myself to sleep...
Ah yes, the NEVER STOP MOVING EVER theme song. E101 got the short end of the stick and so did the other E-Robots. Heck even Omega. Beta and Gamma are saved as well as the rest, but Omega still fights for all of them.
Or just the edginess of getting to fight Beta the 2nd time. You vs your older brother, who wants revenge for the time you bested him, meanwhile all you want to do is free him. Who will win?

A lot of Extension Channels are dying nowadays, thanks to RUclips and Copyright. My favorite Extension Channel is already long-gone. If I wanted an Extension, that Channel had it. No Ad's either. I was able to listen to my favorite music without stupid Ad's getting in my way.

This track is a very amazing song to listen to for a lot of *_"Built-Up 1v1s"_* I can think up of from my memories. Takanuva and Makuta having a violent game of Kohli underground? Checks out to me. Optimus Prime duking it out with Megatron? It feels uncanny, in fact... X and Zero legit trying to kill each other due to how out of control the Maverick Virus has gotten in X5? Makes you wonder if there was a winner at all... I loved E-102 Gamma's story, and he'll forever remain a timeless tale of why I think robots deserve to have their "thoughts" respected on the same level as our own, if they ever develop any. Actions have consequences, including that of cruelty. Those who believe they can control a good soul... will learn the hard way that they cannot - no matter how hard they try.
I just thought of this, What if in a new Smash Bros, we get a new story mode like subspace emissary, where at one point in the story, MegaMan and Bomberman (I know he's not in currently but he is still a likely Choice in a smash sequel) get into a fight because of a misunderstanding and this song plays in the background. That would be amazing to play.
