GREAT ALPHA JAY SHOW DOG 🐶 MAN VIDEO REVIEW,
You’re an overrated mook😒
Can’t wait
Hey man, Ruby Gillman is NO MISS, you understand me? It deserves more love and appreciation, okay. So please cut it some slack. Thank God, it became a hit on Netflix.
I haven't watch Dog Man yet, by the way.
With how little advertisement this film got, it’s amazing to know that it’s doing good! Hopefully that means we’ll get a sequel to this AND hopefully Captain Underpants
If given the choice between the two sequels, I’ll settle for just Dog Man. The Captain Underpants movie made the fatal mistake of being billed “The *First* Epic Movie,” and when has there ever been a second epic movie for anyone who does that but Pokémon? Plus Dog Man’s already gonna make a lot more money so it’s financially more feasible
Dogman did end up getting advertised. It was just more of a last minute thing.
@SonicFanBoy138 Yeah I see the advertising strategy as kind of the DreamWorks marketing equivalent of the Everything Except Fabric Softener store - in that all the bases were covered admirably, with the lack of a second trailer being the only serious thing missing
How da heck do yall know when something is advertised well or not? I remember the first trailer being shown enough well, and I remember seeing a bit of extra advertising for it when I was checking out Sonic 3 in theaters.
@hiddenflare6169 This is from my own experiences so take it with a grain of salt. From what I remember, the trailer came out and that was really the only thing carrying it for two months. With it also being played in theaters. But then during about a month left before the movie came out, there were TV Spots, clips, the Roblox thing, etc.
How they solved the Fusion dynamic...
The Man is dead ,and the Dog is the only one in control. They mentioned how the man has the physical capabilities to be a good officer but lacked the mind. Meanwhile, the Dog had the mind but was lacking the body.
By hacking off the Man's head, the dog gains what he needs as the penultimate hero ,but loses his close owner and the relationship he shared in the process.
@@pixellord2370 That was the point of the book as well. You caught it well, dear stranger. That’s something not many people will notice.
Not to mention, Dog Man in the movie realizes how much life changed after he became the supa cop he's known as today.
Therefore, even though he is still alive, he did feel a sense of loneliness and needed someone to at least keep him going. Of course, that someone being Li'l Petey.
There's another aspect of the movie I really like: Dog Man and Li'l Petey actually bond together. IT'S FREAKING WHOLESOME!
In the books, they just sleep together, but in the movie, they actually do stuff together which was something definitely needed ^-^
I knew nothing of Dog Man, but my nephew loves the books and wanted to see the movie. I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was.
I'm always kind of the stick in the mud when it comes to family comedy movies and rarely crack a smile, let alone laugh. This one got me quite a few times. Glad it's doing well.
Those books are some of the best things he'll read growing up. As silly as they look, there's surprisingly very profound moments about questioning yourself in terms of being good/bad, changing to do better, and ultimately directing your life with positivity rather than negativity.
See that, Disney? _This_ is how you make a movie!
This type of animation just feels right for a movie based on a children’s book like this one. It has a stop-motion atmosphere for this kind of computerized animation and I think kids will enjoy.
My boyfriend and I just went to go and see this movie, reminded me so much of Aardman Studios because it looked so much like stop motion. And what was dope about the story was knowing that they didn’t linger too long on emotional moments, because admittedly some of the moments were really sad
Now if only the animated diary of a wimpy kid movies had this kind of quality…
DreamWorks sure ain't afraid of taking new heights.....
Heck, even when they failed with Ruby Gillman, they at least were taking risks. Same with Kung Fu Panda 4, it might not be as good as expected, but they weren't playing it safe, and i respect that at least.
Unlike what they did with Megamind 2...
@@miserirkenmegamind 2 doesn’t count. Cuz it wasn’t even made by the main movie studio
@@miserirken i'm so relieved that ruby gillman boomb at the box office and dremwokes well never make a sequel of that horrible genaric and clichê movie
@ Big copium, they promoted it as it was a main studio movie and not a cheap pilot in disguise, they deserve been laugh at.
The movie was so good it changed my pfp

Mine too!
Normally I hate when villains are easily forgiven for their evil deeds, but it somehow works with Petey.
It partially works because Petey is sort of a Doofensmirtz like villain. Devoted to doing evil but never really doing much harm.
Heck, the bomb creating Dog Man is probably the worst thing he's done as it technically killed someone.
@ You also have to consider that even with Petey being much closer to Doofenschmirtz than Scar in characterization, you actually get to SEE his progression from self-described bad guy to legitimate good guy more or less in real time, something which Disney ceased to understand long ago, as well as the very concept of villains in general
@@bullmonty764 redemption takes effort and time. Disney keeps trying to push redemption arcs for villains without any of those. That's why late redemption arcs in Disney IPs feel cheap.
@@bullmonty764 Yeah! Disney is too afraid to make a good villian with remorse or without remorse these days.
@ That is to say when there’s even a villain at all. There wasn’t one in Elemental or the first Inside Out, for two examples, but in those cases I’d say that the way their plots are structured made one unnecessary anyway. So those two get to be off the hook in my opinion
Fun Fact: Dreamworks has become the highest grossing animation studio since last october 🤑
@@kingkirby1394 Disney who?
@ Disney is a load of mostly soulless slop post 2012 that’s who (imo anyway) but that surprisingly wasn’t part of why I found this out, sheer coincidence really. Feel free to look it up if ya don’t believe it. I’m surprised by this turnout as well given how up and down dreamworks can be, I guess technically speaking they haven’t had many financial bombs? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
and all they had to do was make good movies and it totally works
Disney forgot that somehow
Who cares about Disney in nowadays when you having DreamWorks making the best animated films of all time 🗿💪🏻
@@meenaNajiem Yeah they are coming up with the Wild Robot, Dog Man, Bad Guys 2, Live Action How to Train Your Dragon, and Shrek 5. What more are they cooking
The reason why the aspect of how new and weird it felt to be Dog/Man wasnt explored in the movie was because Officer Knight was basically absent minded and not all there mentally and Greg was the soul and emotional aspect of the duo so to him was just ok to take on the new body until it hit him about what the new body/life entailed. Also hos girlfriend leaving fits the theme of abandonment and trauma the film goes for later on perfectly so I think it was a good trade off for that.😊
this movie was genuinely amazing, would watch again
After seeing this movie, I noticed that Flippy (Who looks like a character you would see in Rocko’s Modern Life.) is the 2nd aquatic Dreamworks villain with some parts of his body having a robotic design with the first one being Dr Blowhole from The Penguins Of Madagascar Nickelodeon show.
You say Poopypants didn't lean on being likeable, yet he was my favorite character for being as unapologetically awful as he was, hating children and laughter and having a cage in his briefcase.😂
Something tells me you haven't read the comics. And you're missing out so much, this comic series has so much heart on it, i can't help but love it. i need to watch this movie, probably gonna do that tomorrow after i fix my bike.
I can't wait for Dog Man to come out in Ireland this Friday
Doing pretty well. First the wild robot now dog man doing well with watchers and the box office. Idk if the bad guys 2 or gabby’s dollhouse will do better.
The former should. If not, then the movie itself should at least be decent to good.
Anyway, I'm glad that the movie had a win. Hope to see more "Ws" in the future.
Can you really call Dog Man a fusion? They sewed a dog’s head on to a human body. Pretty sure Officer Knight is gone.
The only reason he probably agreed to the affair is because he's an idiot.
Also because he loves his dog but mainly because he's an idiot who didn't consider his decapitation.
There were a few gross-out jokes that I didn't gel with but hey that's Dav Pilkey's thing
Other than that I have nothing but good things to say about this movie, I love love LOVED it
This kinda gives the captain underpants movie a run for its money in terms of quality.
Can't wait to see it!
Though sadly it won't be screening here until April.
My little brother collects the comic books to this one i know for a fact he'll probably wanna watch it once it's on Amazon and Netflix
Gotta love dreamworks at this point
3:47 Death from Puss and Boots: Great, another animal that thinks that I don't exist. (I really liked the video and I do agree that more films should have antagonistic characters that aren't comic relief/forgivable, but we really shouldn't look over the ones that already exist, like Death)
Dreamworks and indie will take the next generation of entertainment, Gen Beta is so lucky 😌
It was honestly a fun flim
I kinda feel like this shouldve been a TV show. Theres alot going on in the film and i think as a show things couldve been more fleshed out and given time to expand other characters more.
I also like how they made it based on a tale of two kitties
And also the first Dog Man book and Dog Man: For Whom the Ball Rolls.

2:00 I couldn’t stop laughing at this line; funny moments like this are why I subscribed to your channel
I haven't seen the film yet but I've heard nothing but praise and I also liked their previous film The Wild Robot, it's so heartwarming
As a fan of the books, I thought this was amazing!
It's nice to see a fun and entertaining movie to bring your family for them too enjoy.
I genuinely loved the movie too it was pretty peak
I can’t wait till the cat kid comic club movie!!!
whos gonna tell them
I'm watching it on February 8th so im glad everyone likes it, I now know its good, I think I'll LOVE it!!
This movie was always going to be outside of the shadow of captain underpants bc the dogman books already standout from the captain underpants books
Alpha Jay, have you thought about doing a video on more recent line of superhero cartoons like Harley Quinn, Creature Commandos, Batman: Caped Crusader, Invincible, X-Men '97, and more? Given that these shows are now aimed for adults than kids, a vid would be a great idea for a future project.
As long as they stay away from unnecessary sequels like Disney I'll be happy.
this is based on a book series, they have material enough for sequels, same with The Bad Guys and The Wild Robot. An advantage about adapting pre-existing book IPs, they can adapt its sequels more easily.
We have enough Dogman books for good sequels so nothing would be useless or out of left field.
Still waiting to see this movie but now that I heard that it's the number one movie of this year and it's very good I'm definitely trying to find a way to see it, even from where I was working at there was AMC so if I want to I can sneak to watch it but I don't know if my job would like that 😅 but when I find time this or next week I'll definitely find a way to watch it, after all it's also birthday gift for me
Awesome!!! Now can we please get a second Captain Underpants movie please and thank you
I think this movie was hit because unlike captain underpants the books are still currently huge popular
Oh shit! IT'S OUT!?
Does anybody know if it’s coming out on Netflix?
I do. It has already been confirmed it will release on Netflix and Peacock in 4 months
Never in my life would I thought that dog man would be compared to steven universe.
Also, Glad to hear that the movie's good! I grew up with the books, and am really excited to see it in theaters, especially considering I loved captain underpants so much
The Virgin Disney vs. The (Giga)Chad DreamWorks
why are you using ‘gigachad’ in the big 2025
@@randomone-s5q because yes
Goes to show that outsourcing animation isn't an L for Dreamworks, at least not yet. Wonder what other projects they are working on, other than Bad Guys 2 and Shrek 5.
Dreamworks itself is a W for modern animation. Apart from KP4 and Megamind 2 they've hitting home runs
Man dreams works is hitting new highs
Even despite the misses with megamind 2 kp4 and ruby Gilmore
Dreamworks has some just as high highs
Puss in boots 2 wild robot dogman
If DreamWorks keeps this level of quality we can have a DreamWorks renaissance

The fact that this movie cost a paltry $40 million meant it was certainly going to make *some* money, but it turned out to run wild on the box office - at least until Brave New World comes out anyway. Regardless I feel proud of have been apart of this massive W even through my general unfamiliarity with the books 👍

Is anyone else concerned that the undo button was just tossed away into a grate and could possibly be clicked by accident, like by crashing into something or by a wild animal? Or since it’s not attached to anything would it just not do anything?
I was very skeptical about this…!
Is it any good?
Yeah it’s really good!! :D

Love your video Alpha Jay and keep up the great work you are awesome
Alot of the movie actually cuts out alot of potty humor the book has, which is mostly Lil Petey making a bunch of crude jokes you'd hear children saying in a kindergarden classroom. Dogman as a series overall is about love so Petey was going to be redeemed no matter what, and the books go deeper into Lil Petey incidentally teaching Petey about embracing and understanding this. The movie cut it short but got across well Petey's arc of realizing he was just as awful and being angry only lead him to the same things that happened to him which is basically borderline and in the books outright child abuse/neglect. It did speed up him changing or at least coming to that conclusion but I understand we don't have time to get through a number of books where largely it just pushes him further to his change to be better.
Im very pleased to see them tackle the idea of how cursed it is Greg had to be fused to the body of his owner and the disconnect from society it caused despite his power increase. I can't say how much in words it's utterly beatiful when he's finally loved that his house lights up and is very comforting and friendly compared to the darker just unlived in state it was before. I love that about this and CU's movie design using storytelling like this to get the point across in such a beautiful way.
@@archerinspace and the animation is really awesome, like always, something disney couldn’t follow.
