Crawling Up Chile Challenge Trails in New Mexico with our Jeep Wrangler on the Nitto Dirt Experience

- Day 2 of the Nitto JK Dirt Experience would take us to the north of Las Cruces and up into the Caballo Mountains. This is an area that the locals refer to as Area 51 but most know as the location of the current Chile Challenge Trails. Our first trail of the day was a beautiful canyon with some challenging ledges and big rock obstacles and as I was told, is called Hookers Corner. After our 4LO fun, we made our way to the west, up into the Gila National Forest and visited one of the most remote National Monuments in the lower 48, the Gila Cliff Dwellings.
For the first time in almost 20 years, Cindy and I did not get to spend the first week of November in Las Vegas, Nevada, like we always do and to cover all the cool new parts, accessories, wheels and tires being made for the Jeep JL Wrangler and JT Gladiator. I am of course talking about the world famous SEMA Show and just like everything else in this crazy dumpster fire of a year, the show got cancelled. Fortunately, not all was lost and all thanks to Nitto as they decided to hold their 10th Annual JK-Experience on that week instead. And, as luck would have it, we were invited to join in on the fun! Presented by KMC Wheels, this awesome adventure would start in Las Cruces, New Mexico and take us all the way to Barstow, California almost 800 miles to the west and loosely following the original route of the very first JK-Experience.

Thank you my friend. Always happy to hear that people like you enjoy our videos 😎
Eddie i gotta tell ya your videos are the best.. one reason is the perfect mix of music and the reality sounds , we can hear all what is going on ( jeeps sounds directions etc..) plus some cool funky music both at the same time , coupled with awesome footage of the trail ,simply out standing .. just wish they were longer 😂😂, could watch your vids all day 👍
We are truly flattered that you would say as much. Thank you so much for that, we're so happy you enjoy our videos 😊
Last couple videos were awesome!!! Love the risks y’all take - not afraid to take a few scratches and dings and push the limits. Incredible vehicles and community. Inspirational.
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed watching this 😎
Badass Jeeps doing badass things! Moby is definitely one hell of a machine. What a lot of people should base their builds off of.
Took a long time to get Moby to where he's at now but I would have to say, he's about as good as it gets or at least, in my opinion. :)
I love these videos, thanks for making them.

I saw you and your jeep yesterday by the Chick Fil A' they're building on 395
LOL - no kidding? Glad to see someone local on here 👍
Man wish I could do a trail or two with you just to gain the experience!
Be great if you could join us someday.
@@wayalife where you located. Might try and make a trip next event.
@@johnthibodeaux5189 We're located up in Northern Nevada but as you can see, we're out and about everywhere.
Love from NAGALAND, INDIA
Happy Thanksgiving
Thank you and same to you!
I like that ox harris, ever since i saw him get tired of vaiting for a tyre change and just slamed it on the rim, we all need a friend like harris..
LOL
Great video. I was hoping to find out what happened last week with the LT.
LOL - glad you enjoyed the video. Ya gotta wait for the next one 😁
Your the man ,always prepared !!🤙🤙
LOL - only so that I won't need any of it for myself 😁
You guys are true rock crawlers! Do you think your JT could have done this?
It would have been tight in a few places but yeah, I think we could have gotten our JT through this.
@@wayalife Right on! Love your videos! Hope to meet you someday...
Awesome off-roading
Thank you :)
What does the bumper with the big angled hoop do? Is is for going over rocks? I noticed a lot of the rigs have them. There is an example of one @ 0:39 to 0:42
They're called stingers and for the most part, they're just cosmetic. Ones like what EVO make are strong enough to help prevent an end over roll coming off a steep drop but that almost never happens. Or, at least for most people out on the trail.
@@wayalife Oh interesting thanks for the info!
Does anyone know what those rectangular leds on the back of the synergy jeep underneath the taillight is called ? Or if its a kit? I would love to do that on my jk looks good
Baja design S2
X2 Baja Designs
With so many Jeep’s, it must be hard to decide on which one to take where.
LOL - I can be but this event was supposed to be for the ol' JK and so that's what we brought 😎
Great video with awesome trails and incredible scenery. New Mexico is a hidden gem! With many Jeeps running with no spare tires on the trail and you always having one. How many times have you had to use your spare in the year's you've been offloading?
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video and I should note that eveyone was required to have a spare. A lot of guys just carried it inside but I hate doing that as it takes up so much valuable room and I need it for the gear I carry. As far as needing a spare goes, many times and not just for myself. I have had to loan my spare to others too.
Epic!!
Glad you enjoyed it 😎
On the last episode your car wouldn't start. What happened? There's no video after that about it. I'm curious.
LOL - you need to wait for the next video.
Keep on trucken
Wondering if you guys know a good source. I’m looking for a front stubby bumper made of aluminum.
EVO makes one 😎
@@wayalife don’t see one for the JT
Great video! The camera doesn’t do the ledges justice. Looked a bit easier than the shake down day?
No, the camera doesn't do the obstacles justice but this was in fact an easier day than the shakedown run LOL
What caused one of the jeeps to blow white smoke on the big ledge?
It was sitting vertically on the obstacle too long and oil was blowing by the cylinders.
nobody gonna mention at 16:00 when the currie jk started smoking?
No kidding. I'd immediately start asking questions.
Not sure what the problem is. They were simply sitting vertically on the obstacle way too long. If you move through it, you won't have oil blowing by the cylinders.
Why did the Currie JL engine start smoking at 16:00?
They were sitting vertically on the obstacle for a very long time. That causes oil in the cylinders to blow by.
15:43 Sir, I believe you are missing a left tail lol
LOL
Does Moby have one tons or a PR 44 set?
Moby is running a ProRock 60 front axle and a ProRock 80 rear axle.
vary pretty country
Indeed, loved it out there!
I just visited the cave dwellings a couple months ago. Definitely a nice place to visit away from modern civilization. I was exploring the walking trails and got a sudden rain storm, but enjoyed myself nevertheless.
Very cool you got to see them for yourself 👍
If those wheels aren't beadlocks tires would already popped out🤣
LOL - so true.
If that failed control arm would've been made by anyone else other than Evo there would've been mass shit talking against the manufacturer.
LOL - Hey boy genius. I realize that paying attention isn't a strong suit of yours but EVO uses Johnny Joints on their control arms, NOT heims and at 7:45, I specifically state that Full Traction is the manufacturer of the control arm. Thanks for playing though.
What’s Mel’s Jeeps lift?
About 4"
Idk why it's always irked me that you've always refused to get aftermarket fenders/inner fender liners on Moby.
LOL - what we got works great. They bend, fold and tear off as needed instead of doing body damage like we've seen time and time again.
👍👍👍
Jealously is a sin and I’m a very sin person! Lol
We need you back out there with us my friend!
✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
Looks like an awesome time. There certainly is some beautiful country between the coasts. Did you happen to see any of those dead voters wandering around out there?
LOL! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Currie jeep needs a catch can..
LOL - not really. It just needed to move through the obstacle like everyone else. Hence, why nobody else smoked.
That green Jeep, no offense is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen.
LOL - not my cup of tea either but the owner of it was really nice and a cool guy 😎
Epic ledges, you guys made it look easy! Can’t wait for episode 3!
Awesome! Glad you're enjoying the series 👍
