Hi Marty, you need to think about strengthening your leg muscle before getting back on your wheel, squats are the perfect exercise for this, persistence and you will soon be rolling, pain is nothing more than the natural response of the corp and reminds you that you are alive, so take heart.
Man Marty love to see back on a wheel .I dont know Marty .I think a E-Bike for next months ride wouldn't be a bad idea man .We wouldn't care your Wheel Father. Hope you feel better buddy ❤
Wow man - you FINALLY learned how to mount like me! 😂 Seriously - you'll look back on this couple of months from now and smile broadly. You're almost there. 😃
You go Marty ! I agree about the bike. A stationary bike would also be good. I've been riding my mountain bike more lately so I can ride my analog unicycles more.
Slow and steady little brother - no rush. Glad to see the progress. Rehab and physical therapy are the most important parts of your journey back. I know it was with my shoulder. Keep smiling and keep that positive attitude.
Good man for trying. Thanks for taking us on the journey . You got the right attitude, I'm sure you'll make huge progress soon. Just take a little time. It will pay dividends
I felt a little nervous for you, when you said you were going for a ride. I broke my ankle several years a go, from a motor cycle accident. It took me about 6 months to fully recover. Wish you all the best, Marty
I had an accident the same day you did. Broke my foot and the opposite wrist. I'm glad to see your recuperation coming along; it pushes me forward. I miss my v11...
@@ElectricUnicycles I just started waking yesterday. The broken wrist being the opposite side to the broken foot has made it harder for me to help myself with a cane or a crutch. My therapist has been tremendous help figuring out how to avoid training unhelpful movements. Thanks for asking!
@sebas11tian That's good to hear. As I type this, 1-1/2 weeks since filming the video, I can now walk slowly, unassisted in my regular walking shoes. So hang in there - more progress is right around the corner
Good job Marty! Glad your back on it with baby steps. Suggestions, take Aleve before riding and the compression sock helps try and wrap your ankle area with plastic food wrap and use spam or wd40 to reduce the friction while you put your right foot in the boot and while you ride. It’s mostly mental from this point on and how much you can endure pain.👍🏼
When you went to the gate, you made me super freaked out. I am so glad you came to your sense hahaha. 😂 Please heal first, ride later. Today I transition from a bike lane to a sidewalk, the edge was higher than it should have been and the edge made my tire slip and I fell sideway. Didn't get hurt but if I had a busted foot it may have been a lot worse (for the foot). You need to consider the worst case and your wife if you ride too early and get busted up.
The Marty we want is Backe. Very good video. I actually watched it twice. I have seen you posted a second part too, and we are eager to see it. Kudos from the other side of the world.
Wow that was incredible, I cant imagine how hard mentally it must of been to start even putting weight on your ankle after not being able to use it for months, and yet you went even beyond and tried to ride a bit! I can only wish you a speedy recovery and hope in the future you will be back riding with others, godspeed Marty!
I think it's more your injury than muscle memory/balance. I was initially a slow learner when I started and after a 2 yrs of an EUC hiatus I got back on without a balance issue and you have far far far more experience than me. As you said, keep pushing it. Cheers
Glad to see you inching back into the swing of things! Youll never forget how to ride, winter usually forces me to wait 4 months between rides. Hope you heal quickly so you can fully ride again!
FYI @ElectricUnicycles Marty, just so you're aware. These look to be street boots which offer better protection than your typical boot but not as much as an Enduro style boot. The enduro boots are the boots of choice for adventure bike riders going offroad and have 4 locking straps that go up to the top of the boot. They offer the most protection and can help to prevent leg breaks when adv riders drop their 600+ pound R1250 GS on their legs. Happy to see you get back at it!
