I love Diamanda Galas (my favorite singer ever) but she has WAY more accessible songs that show off her hellacious vocals way better lol. Her rendition of “i put a spell on you” is bone chilling and I’m sure you’ll like it since it’s a well known song! This is what’s called “expressionism” which basically means she opens her mouth and lets whatever she’s feeling in the moment flow from her no matter how “ugly” it may sound. It’s all improvised and seeing her live is like witnessing someone slowly become possessed by music on stage.
For straight vocals from diamanda galas check out - Time (an interlude) from the album Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! It is absolutely one of her most beautiful songs. Simply said it is breathtaking and my mother even thought so. Therefore very accessible and a great demonstration of her broad range all in one song. Please do this song.
I love Nina. I love Diamanda. They aren't in the same boat at all. Nina is comedy (in the broadest sense); Diamanda is tragedy. Deep blue put it well below.
Exeloume is spine-chilling but beautiful. She does amazing gospel songs in a way no one else does, as well opera and guttural sounds that seem to split time and space. Seen her live twice and her voice rattles your bones. I love her. Try her versions of ‘Let My People Go’, ‘My World is Empty Without You’, ‘Gloomy Sunday’, ‘I Put a Spell on You’, ‘Let’s Not Chat About Despair’ and songs like ‘Double Barrel Prayer’ and ‘Skoteseme’.
Lmao when you started vibing with the horse like noises toward the end. Try Time(interlude), my world is empty without you, **you don’t know what love is**, the thrill is gone (the one Chet baker sang, not the other song she does by the same name), heaven have mercy, and all the way. I feel like they show her voice more, although they are later career. If you want the more out there stuff id say listen to a schrei x and be done with it. An artist where reading statements of intent is helpful on some stuff. If something sounds “bad” it’s cause she wanted it to, you feel me Skip the sporting life
i love to sing along to the Iron Lady, gloomy sunday, my world is empty w/o you, this is the law of the plague (fair warning: more metal than most 'metal' - UNCLEAN!!!!! great for exorcisms 😈😈😈😈)
One of a few AMAZING songs from this incredible album ... Unique intense artist ... Nina Hagen is FAR more goofy and fun ... Galas more serious and learn ed ... The sound in the background is chains hitting metal ... This song was used in a Derek Jarmon movie ' Last of England ' ... with actress Tilda Swinton spinning in slow motion on a beach in a wedding dress by a campfire with a knife cutting rose florettes off her dress and eating them .... ha great visual anyway ...
I know this is way late, but a couple of things for context. "Deliver me from Mine Enemies" is from her live album, which redacts her three "AIDS" albums. This is the second one. The first is just voice and percussion and biblical texts. Here, there is expanded instrumentation (in this case keyboards) and French poetry. In the third album, it has full rock ensemble, and regular "song" lyrics, and it becomes clear that the entire trilogy is about AIDS. Here, on the second album, you have landed on one of the "ambient" pieces. Cry of the Blindman is probably the most stunning single song on the disc, but the whole thing is an experience.
Εξελόυμε is from her thematic trilogy dedicated to Aids, a disease that killed her brother.
E un atto di accusa contro la chiesa, rea di aver divulgato falsita' intollerabili❤
this is the best singer in the world! :)
Definitely
That has EVER been
This is a stellar tack that really show's Diamanda's vocal abilities. Check out "You Must Be Certain Of the Devil," "I Put A Spell On You," and "Tony"

Amazing video! Diamanda is a very kind person and an incredibly powerful singer! 😍
Check out "The Sporting life" album she did with John Paul Jones. is more accessible and I recommend you the song "Skotoseme". Simply amazing.
The only thing she's ever done that is really inaccessible is Vena Cava and Schrei X
You're brave. Diamanda Galas is NOT for the weak of heart. Check out "Double Barrel Prayer".
Oh my great Diamanda G. there is no other like my sweet underground dark songstress of the unknown world.
This was in the film dracula amazing song
Uncredited for some reason, it was ‘Circle of Fire’ wasn’t it :) Think she did it as a favour.
@@Problembeing yes its in the scene where he creates a circle of fire around mina (Wynona Ryder)
listen to "Skotoseme" a song she did with John Paul Jones on her (Sporting Life lp). the whole album is here on youtube.
Insane Asylum from malediction

You should react to "Deliver Me from My Enemies" It is 19 minutes long, but It is AMAZING!

Love Diamanda but Nina teaches in her own way,
@@SkeeterNYC i politely disagreee diamanda is far more in touch with what her voice can do
Please please please listen Cris D'Aveugle from Diamanda Galas, it's way more impressive and you can hear more of the weird stuff she can do.
She has a song I recommend ' You must be certain of the devil ' that is very church revival / gospel in sound ...
.
I recommend her songs "Devil's Rodeo" and "My World is Empty (live)" 💖💖💖
Try anything from her album "All The Way", it's a better introduction to her work.
