Hey nice playing man! I bought Amp Room a couple years ago, got an email today to say, hey you get the new version for free, cool! Looks and sounds really good!
Big improvement! Especially the improved cabinet section now works much better due to better, more contemporary individual adjustment options and choice of microphones and placement. The older systems never convinced me much, now this section really became professional too. The Marshalls anyway already sounded good before, maybe apart from the 2204, which always sounded a little too shrill to me, but the JCM800 sounds nice, althout I miss the Low Input option and the Silver Jubilee even sounds better to me than my real one did decades ago. The 1959 Plexi anyway is a gem, which brought me to Softube. I only know a single Plexi plugin alternative, which sounds as good, but also a little different. The AC-30 offers too little gain for my taste, I know alternatives, which give me a better, more intense Gallagher, May overdrive even without any pedal support, but the basic Vox character is there. Some pedals, especially the SD-1 still do not convince me so much. My real SD-1 sounds different, the RAT is ok, but also still could be improved, at least with a "more bass" switch, which meanwhile a lot of RAT based pedals also offer. A real highlight is the new Vildsint with it's sound matrix (9 different voicings!), I think. A nice, in my opinion more British voiced high-gain alternative to a Rectifier, but comparably flexible, even the clean and cleaner tones sound excellent. So it offers you almost everything between clean and ultra-high-gain in really good quality. The different voicings work fine, the more gain, the thighter bass becomes, so you do not even have to readjust much, just change the voicing. Would become my new favorite amp, if it existed in reality! The closest sounding real amp with comparable sounds, I know is a VH-4. No bad reference, I think. But also the new bass amps are nice, especially the The Cardinal sound great to me. Not like the Ampeg, not like the Murde One / Super Bass, but is has a beautiful, unique late 1960's / early 1970's character. Another good feature is the flexible 5-band eq, which helps optimizing the final results. I already owned Amp Room before, but hardly used it, this upgrade certainly is capable of changing this. Now it became a really good professional system for excellent guitar and bass tones.
Just got the Marshall suite. Was only 45 to upgrade from the Marshall Super Lead I had. Worth it for the JMP alone, it's fantastic. But the Bluesbreaker is also awesome, and I like the Plexi too. And I can see myself getting use out the Silver Jubilee & JCM800 too, even if those wouldn't be my primary amp choices. It's a lot more versatile than something like the UAFX Lion, at a third the price. And I think the Softube JMP model rivals the UAFX. Though, I tried the UAD Dream, and for Fender I think they nailed that better than Softube. Softube's Hiwatt is good though. I don't know if I love either of their takes on the Vox AC sound. Neural DSP Morgan Suite is my goto for that type of tone. Otherwise the plugins tend to only emphasise that edginess of a Vox, in a not so pleasant way. I'd really like to see an Orange/Matamp Suite, and a full Ampeg Guitar+Bass suite, someone? For Orange, I'm using Tonex + Amalgam captures now, and it sounds really good. A tweed suite, or just a really good UAD 5e3 Tweed would be awesome too, that's more my kind of Fender tone than the bright clean Deluxe Reverb. Again, Tonex+Amalgam are good for tweed tones now.
I already had a pretty high opinion of Softube. I've owned a Marshall JMD:1 for a few years, and they did the modelling for that amp. I used it in rehearsal last week, and it sounded amazing. The only drawback is, it only has Marshall emulations, which is understandable.
How does this connect to an amplifier. Do you have to plug it in to the computer and then plug it back into your amplifier. I’m sorry but I’m not really computer savvy. Thanks for all the great videos. I’m a big fan
Just released? I bought this same amp room version nearly 2 years ago. This looks like just a product repackaging exercise. The Marshall suite has been out for forever as well. Just fyi. :)
amps dont seem to have changed but they were already really good and the new cabs really help the twins and ac30 which only had pretty weak cabs previously imo
I have the Softtube Silver Jubilee that comes free when buying a Focusrite interface. I have had a hard time tweaking that amp sim to soynd good. Ive gotten it close but it has taken a lot of adjustments to get any decent sounding Marshall tones out of it. I knownits the free version but i would think that shouldn't make a difference. My Neural Soldano sounded amazing from the get go as well as my ML Sound Labs Amped Roots suite of amp plug ins. Another one that I never could get working right is the THU plug in set up. This Amo Room looks very similar to the THU model.
There's something that i really need to know..., your clean tones sounds very, very much impressive, i really need to know how d'ya achieve this kind of signal input. Please tell me; are you using some kind of valve preamp before or after your audio interface? Thx a lot for your very valuable time.
Great demo thx! Does anyone know if you lose the original Marshall Cabinet Collection (fixed mic positions) when you upgrade to Marshall Suite? I’m sure the new movable mic cabinets sound good, but there are some great sounds in the original MCC too that I would hate to lose.
All the fixed IRs from MCC are now available as IRs and available in the IR loader in Amp Room, along with other IR packs from e.g. Kristian Kohle and more.
Nice bit of kit Paul. Will you be diving deeper at some point. I’m interested in the cab & microphone options. Are we able to use more than one microphone on a cab for example on open back cabs can I mic from behind & reverse phase on a rear microphones cab in conjunction with front microphone ?
Hard to beat free isnt it? Imagine if they put a profile search in it. I was A/Bing Neural with Tonex and both are great imo, but I think Neural had a slight edge.
@@masterofreality230 Actually in general we all have a computer and an interface, when you buy a pedal modeler at least they have an all in one, but software due to the prices doesn't make sense anymore. I also don't hear here that this sounds better than a neural plugin. better for us since nam came out the game changed forever
@@quiquepriore I just got an HX Stomp XL, and since I really dont take my gear anywhere, I am thinking about selling it. I have literally thousands of plugins.
I think some people get stuck in a box, always good to look outside. Personally I think a Tele can do anything, Hell there’s even bands like biffy Clyro using strats.
I'm not against the use of these but I don't like how the names refer to real Amps when it's just a load of digital information. I don't think they should be allowed to use the names of amps, models or even allude to them. And selecting virtual speakers is daft. The names should be just ''dirty guitar 1''.i think it deceives people.... I fell victim once to this kind of marketing when I bought Hughes kettner that professed to have a Marshall channel and fender channel and had very little in common with either.
Softube look at every component in a circuits of real vintage amps and they recreate them from measurements and don't really listen to them. They are practically more accurate than reissue hardware (because new old stock components isn't really a thing). The only flaws are not completely capturing every complex aspects of components like tubes behave when it comes to nonlinearities and such.
Their names are similar so that users can easily refer to their real life counterparts (especially for tone chasers) and know how to dial them since every single amp is different each other and has different knobs, tubes, etc.
This sim is very good Imo. This looks a great update as the workflow was a bit of a killer before! The upgrade price is very sensible now where as they were quite expensive before! What’s not to like?
I like this, it gives a realistic marshall sound RAW but scufham s gear gives that 80s sound out of the box.
I bought the Marshall Suite and you are totally right, I'm loving how beautiful the whole design is.Floored me.There's a sale too ! Thanks
I totally agree ! I'm on the trial since two days and I'm kind of shocked on how good the it sounds and feel !

great demo Paul, some really nice chord voicings too, thank you :)
Cheers Paul
This sounds really really great! Enjoyed the video, good stuff!! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it
Note that it does not come with the Marshall amps as default, you have to pay extra for those.
Sounds absolutely amazing! What version exactly is the program you tasted?
This sounds pretty huge 🔥
There is no 1960 cab with G12t75?
