May I ask a question? Are you saying that endogenous phase is when F/M ratio is low? About the F/M ratio, you said that when F/M ratio is low, There is not enough food for every microorganism, thus microorganism will compete for food. This will produce dense sludge as a by-product. Whereas when F/M ratio is high, sludge will not become dense as there is sufficient food for all microorganism. Then you went forward on endogenous phase, a condition that is similar to when F/M ratio is low, where microorganism is a lot and food is limited, they feed on each other to survive, thus producing low amount of sludge. But you said earlier when F/M ratio is low, then sludge produced will be dense. There is a contrary between what you just explained about endogenous phase and what you just explained about F/M ratio when it is low. To summarize my question, F/M ratio low = dense sludge = High sludge production Endogenous phase = F/M ratio low = High sludge production But you said Endogenous phase = Low sludge production A little bit confused..... Just asking for knowledge purpose as I'm working in a sewage treatment industry. Hope we can get the answer. Thank you.
