I’ve been a watchmaker for 40 years, I don’t scratch up watches I have the right tools. I can Tune a 2824-2 To run straight up the paper.

Yes. This kid is a phuking idiot! You guys are trained on ETAs in school! This is why I go with ETA based movements instead of coaxials. ETAs are more durable, lower repair costs, and plentiful parts. Less wait time

Eta!!! Two reasons - 1 Eta will be very easy to service and cheap! 2 the rose will be collectable!
Great Video!!! Just picked up a blackbay 36 recently.

I'm for ETA for its thinner case and more authentic dial. And Iron bracelet is fantastic !

Welcome to the YT Watch World. I wanted to show support by 1)watching the video in its entirety and 2)liking the video. I didn't realize that the ETA Version had curved text so thank you for pointing that out.

I bought a Pre-owned ETA w/leather vintage strap and purchased the Rivet In-house Tudor bracelet by mistake. Needless to say, I love it with the bracelet!

The new Tudor Black Bays have the in-house movement yet the ETA 2824 are available (some NOS, included), between 1K and $1500 less. ETA has worked well for me over the years, is easy to tuneup (Hoboken Horology should get a new water repairer...), ETA will continue to make the movement/parts, so why risk in-house. Many in-house have long-term issues that take years to fix. Do you want your watch to be that guinea pig for the watch manufacturer? There are times when tried-and-true still work. Just a thought. Regards.

Own the BB Red myself, and it is the ETA version. Didn't get it with the bracelet but did get it second hand at a very good price. Honestly if I were going to buy another BB I would look at the new Basel models, there was some neat stuff there. Or the BB bronze.

You failed to mention that the ETA movement is enhanced much more than average.

I love my BB Black MK1 on bracelet. I found a Tudor Ranger bracelet with the straight end links on eBay and swap it in / out with the original. It gives it that 7923-001 "look" in case you don't have $375k to plunk down. Also...you HAVE to get a Bergeron tool to swap it out so you aren't scratching the $hit out of the case.

Nice video and thanks for the info. I managed to pick up the ETA movement with the original bracelet brand new today. It's so good. The ETA is a great movement and has a great history of reliability, and as you said: the bracelet on the ETA is REALLY good. Finally, I way prefer the Tudor Rose logo compared to the shield logo - it has more charm.

The ETA one is a much better buy. Unfortunately I bought the newer one and had to flip it as it was too tall. Horrible wearing.

Regarding watch bands, save yourself time & money and get Barton watch bands. Easy to install, swap out and plenty of options. I do not like the metal bracelet, the diver rubber ones sweat, so prefer leather or canvas. Regards.

  • @trevbarlow9719

Shrewd advice. Personally, I would always go for the ETA because the In-house looks too thick.

So the curved third line is the first version and ETA movement?

  • @frips1000

the non eta its to thick, plus the rose on the dial is epic!

  • @stanimirko

I find that ETA version has so much more heritage spirit, it's the original Black Bay, the one who is the antology of Tudor history. ETA is the way Tudor has always been, maybe with other movements too but it is the Tudor way, inhouse is good but the aesthetics and hence the emotion of the watch is not there with the inhouse version. Rose logo and smile text is so nice vintage detail...without them it's not the same package

Stanimir Kolev the 70 hour power reserve solves the heritage and nostalgia issues real fast though!
The ETA is a plain vanilla, cheap movement.

Don’t pay for the case. If you are paying $2500+ for ETA you need your head checked. In-house movement is the better value.

This was posted on May 13, 2017. VB3 I actually bought a Tudor inhouse movement.
I'll have to make video. I have a few interesting straps.

Rolex is NOT known especially for 3 link bracelet. Their crappy "Jubilee" (stretch, droop, cheap feeling) is what they are known for. Have you EVER seen ANYONE measuring the age and wear and tear of ANY watch by the droop of its bracelet? People do that REGULARLY with ROLEX Jubilee. Very poor design. Longines Hydroconquest, Omega Planet Ocean, and MANY others have 3 links as it is a strong design. Having said that and owning a few, IMHO the Omega Seamaster 300M bracelets are the most comfortable and I don't know why. I do know that I have never seen anyone measure droop on one.

Sold my Tudor BBB Gen 1 to fund my Omega 300 ceramic bezel. Gen 1 has i nicer dial than gen 2. Its a great watch but found the bracelet to be uninspired. Perhaps the sub has spoiled me.

Good review. The new bracelet rivets don't look good, the old ETA bracelet is much better. Also $3,600 for a black bay.. no way.. buy a second hand ETA.

steven uk1 gotta buy the ETA version fast, before they appreciate. I’ve already seen black ETAs going for 4’000.-
Red one is also going to be a collectible.

most watch movements with ETA are so cheap, no reason to spend such money to buy black bay in ETA version
