Congrats to the whole Camp for a great year. At least Joel got something on that first Sunday. Was very quiet up our way as you know. And congrats to Kaden for that fine mountain doe! No need to send on any swag, but was in a tree stand well before sunrise one time many years back. I felt something ram my head a few times, had no idea what it could have been. Got out my flashlight only to see a hawk sitting on a branch right next to me.
Thanks Tom! If that doesn't get your blood going in the pitch dark I don't know what will. That's crazy! Quiet everywhere seems to be the recurring theme from everyone we talked to. Hopefully we get a good growing season this year, the virus gets sent packin' and everyone can set their sights on a great hunting season for '21!
My CRAZY STORY: We were up at our camp near Canton, PA fall turkey hunting. The weather was getting warm, so I took off one of my jackets and left it with my boy. I went for a walk and flushed a turkey and missed it! I went to reload and realized all my shells were in my other jacket. I headed back to my boy and ran into 40 turkeys with NO SHELLS! I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming! Loved seeing all the turkeys this year.
Fall and Canton.... those two words immediately strike up Apple & Cheese and Wine & Cheese festivals in our minds! Totally can see that crazy story happening to more than its fair share of hunters Nicki... and it never fails to play out that way when you're in that situation. Thanks for sharing and following along with us on this fun-filled NCPA adventure, we enjoy putting the videos together!
I know I missed your deadline for funny stories but I thought I"d add these two any how. My favorite hunting spot was on a ridge overlooking a pasture. This area had been timbered many years before, there was a big stump with a hole in the top of it. Some of the wives used to make cakes and send them to camp. Well after a couple of nights eating chocolate cake, bacon cooked in bacon grease, and gallons of beer in the evening. I felt the rumblings in my stomach. I knew I couldn't make it to camp in time, about a mile away. I really didn't want to stink up my spot, but didn't have much of a choice, I crab walked back to the stump, and hit the hole perfect. Before my bowels were empty, and it didn't take long, a chipmunk come shooting out of the bottom of the log, covered in you know what, he ran about 15 ft from the bottom of the stump and turned around to look at me, then kept going. Pretty sure I seen his middle toe sticking up.
We used to get a gang together to drive for deer on the second Saturday of the PA buck season. One of the areas we drove was accessible by crossing a creek which was approximately 3’ deep. During our preseason scouting we found a fallen tree to cross the creek which was about 9’ above the water. Twenty-two individuals crossed the tree safely and then it was my fathers turn. Dad was about halfway across and started to loose his balance falling backwards. He started to flap his arms as if trying to fly. Dad was 92 when we lost him to COVID. The memory of him crossing that fallen tree was remembered by him and I at least once every year.
Sorry to hear you lost him, Alan. Great story, though, that we're sure will always add a smile to your face. How great of a picture would that be... 22 orange-clad hunters crossing a creek 9' off the ground on a tree, ha!

YES!! I was going to direct call you, was getting a little bit concerned. ... been looking forward to this ever since the season ended! Thanks for sharing... and I have not even watched it yet..lol... I want to watch it without any interruptions...hell, I think Im going to blow off the super bowl to watch..your camp has ten times better entertainment for sure... peace
We were worried we weren't going to be able to release it this year! It was a month of reviewing and editing only to find the finished product - which played on our laptops without any problem - didn't play once on the channel. Took 5 revisions, re-renderings and upload attempts to finally get it out there. Save the video for a cold, snowy day when you've got nothing going on.
Darn bears are quite destructive when curious. Maybe he thought the trail cam was a mini box of cereal. I had a great hunting year in 2020 myself. Your videos are well done and entertaining. Good luck in future.
Finally! I was beginning to wonder whether or not we were going to get a deer camp video this year. Good video, well edited and well shot. Thanks again for taking us along.
Thanks for waiting. This seasons video was compiled from hundreds of clips. And we were having some technical difficulties with the upload that added to the delay. Appreciate the compliments!
All of the turkey footage also had us concerned that it might be tipping the scale too far away from deer hunting but that's what it was this year... an everyday traveling 3-ring turkey circus with the occasional whitetail thrown in for good measure.
@@NCPAOutdoors I liked it. That's what being in the woods is about. You never know what your entertainment will be. If it weren't for the turkeys it would have been long days of seeing little else.
Im only 30 mins in but when you showed that stand where you carved your name with your Dad in 1990, that hit hard. LOL That 1990 doe season you were talking about, well I can tell you the dates...It was Dec 10th, 11th, and 12th. Because I was with my Dad at his rock, and on the second day, 12 yr old me shot my first ever deer. I weighed about 75 pounds maybe and to this day it was still the biggest doe I ever shot! LOL He had a good time watching me try and drag probably 120 pound doe off the mountain. Obviously he helped or Id still be pulling. I'm 43 now, and don't live in PA anymore. I've lived and hunted several states over the years, but nowhere compares to PA. Maybe I'm partial to it, but I don't see the excitement, the anticipation, the traditions, the camraderie....I'm gonna continue watching now, but I sub'd and will check out your other videos after this one is over. Thanks for sharing!!!!!
Unlike picking up the wrong shells, I was out in pouring rain and when I returned home I had to give the gun a good cleaning and leaned it in the corner. While leaving in the morning on the next hunt, I walked into the dark room and grabbed my rifle. When I arrived at the woods, an hour drive later, I noticed that my rifle was missing it’s bolt that I removed for cleaning. I designated myself as a driver that day. Anyway, great video and congrats on the deer taken.
Ok, here is my story; back in the late 1970's when I was fourteen, my dad had to work the 1st day of rifle buck and I was unable to go to deer camp up in forest county..I remember fuming all day at school in Pittsburgh that 1st day when all my hunting buddies were up in the mountains hunting.. and being near the city, there was very little to no options locally.. When the bus dropped me off at my house, it hit me that there was a small pocket 3 miles away near my old elementary school and football field that was legal to hunt deer but only with a shotgun slug. I never used a shotgun other than for small game...but I new my buddy up the street had some slugs...I ran up to his house and grabbed three 12 gauge slugs and before I knew it, I was peddling up a main highway on my ten speed bike in florescent orange and a shotgun across my handle bars...I got a lot of double take looks as cars passed me on the busy highway but I did not care, hell or high water, I was going to deer hunt that day.. As I approached my spot and to my dismay I noticed a lot of orange up and down a power line right of way that I was planning on hunting...I then remembered a thicket of grape vines below the old ball field steep embankment that I used to see deer a few times while at football practice back in the day...but barely outside of the safety zone of a nearby church parsonage... sure enough as I was stumbling and sliding down the bank towards the grape vine thicket a buck bounced out and ran down to a creek and started up a steep embankment when I started throwing slugs from the old 12 guage pump - and on the last slug, I got lucky enough to put a good hit on him and he come tumbling back down that hill and lay dead in the creek...I was shocked and in disbelief that there my first ever buck lay ...on a day that I had no hope of hunting at all....My old baseball coach happened to be hunting up at the power line and came down to investigate all the shots.. and he simply could not believe what I just pulled off as he said he sat there all day and did not hear a shot until mine..In any event he transported the deer for me as I road my bike back home and helped me hang it from my basketball hoop in time for my dad to come home from work to see his son grinning ear to ear with his 1st buck ...by that time, there had to be 20+ kids from my neighborhood hanging out looking at the deer... while my dad was mad and grounded me for hunting by myself , I could tell he was pretty pumped as well...pretty cool story for my 1st buck to boot...and that story still comes up when I see some of my old buds from the neighborhood..
@@NCPAOutdoors ..and as far as your 2020 season, thanks for taking us along..and congrats on the those deer you guys ended up tipping over...and all the bird encounters! Way to get after it... Great footage...
@@MrJimbo1212 You watch... the birds will be nowhere to be found come May, ha! That footage at 51:27 that I said was "unbelievable".. a lot of people are probably saying to themselves, 'wow, what's so spectacular about that?' What I didn't explain in that clip, though, was the fact that not even 5 minutes prior to those two deer showing up, I sat there and pictured that exact scenario happening. Crazy!
@@NCPAOutdoors wow...that is crazy...you seemed really pumped..makes sense even morose now...thats so cool when things happen in the woods that simply blow your mind and tough to explain...Love the passion as well as some of us get that pumped when a yearling doe comes into our world...like me..lol.. thats what I like so much about your videos is that you cover things that most do not cover or pass by as uneventful- but like your boy said in the end when you asked your viewers to weigh in on what they think is good about deer camp and he simply chimed in "everything"! ....and man is he spot on with that and thanks again for taking us along..
Being with family is what makes hunting season so great. My story that my brothers & I chuckle about would be the year my brother was shooting & when I heard 4th shot I could hear my other brother yell " Reload!". Its not real crazy but it was funny & another good memory. Great video looking forward to next one
We’ve all been there! Most of my deer have been put down with one shot but there have be one or two that required a follow up appointment! Ha. Thanks for the laugh.
Happy that you guys were able to post. Hope all is well with you guys. Hope you had a great season! As to my funniest experience in the woods, It actually happened this rifle season. I'm 21 and It was the first time I ever had to go #2 in the woods while hunting. I found the perfect tree blowdown and got to business. As i'm sitting there, with my luck here comes a decent 9 point and two does walking towards me. Unfortunately the gun was slightly out of my reach so I had to shuffle with my pants around my ankles to grab It. Needless to say walking with your pants around your ankles isn't the quietest thing in the woods and the deer were spooked off. Makes me laugh to think It was my first #2 in the woods and that happened. Can't win them all I guess!
That’s something that most of us can relate to. Often it’s during a 5 minute “timeout” when you expect a buck to walk in but you’re not ready for him! Thanks for sharing.
Me and my dad were muzzleloading at our WV whitetail camp. We both had been hunting with Hawken ball and cap muzzleloaders. We we’re sitting on the ground about 20 yards apart( I was a youngster at the time). A very nice 8 pt that would of been bigger than anything we ever taken walked basically right up to us . My dad lowered his riffle and shot and only the cap went off. The deer stood there at us at 20 yards looking at us. My dad in a low yell says shoot him son. I had my gun barrel up and but stock on the ground between my legs. I pulled the hammer back while it was in this position and unknown to me the cap fell off. I then aimed and click. The deer looked at me, seemed like laughed, I looked at my dad and we couldn’t believe it. The buck slowly walked off. Not a crazy story but one memory with dad I will never forget. Great video by the way love the deer camp vids.
Ok I watched to the end now. Don't know if the contest is over or not, and if it is, Ill share a story anyway. If it isn't, and you pick me to win, give that tumbler to a kid somewhere who hunts. Keep that hot coa-coa nice and warm on opening day... Crazy story.....Maybe not crazy, but fun! I was maybe 15 or 16, archery hunting with my Dad. In my part of PA there was a lot of old reclaimed strip mine operations. Well, I was sitting on the edge of one of these on the ground. There was a test hole maybe 30 or 40 feet deep, like a baby strip pit behind me. A land bridge was maybe 20 yards from me that deer used to cross to get out to the now planted strip mine pit. I was on my stool and I sat with my back against a small hemlock. Super thick, great cover. I heard noise behind me and looked down into that test pit and through the branches I saw black. I thought, "Cool a black squirrel!" They arent as common in my part of PA. Well this squirrel got bigger and bigger, and I moved a branch and realized it was a bear. A BIG ONE! He sat in the bottom of that pit on his butt, yanked a blueberry bush out and was eating berries. Then he started directly up the hill to this really good cover hemlock I was hiding behind. I was too afraid to move because he was 6 paces from me at this point. (I paced it after he left). I heard him physically groan or kind of wheeze like he was tired of coming up this steep bank. He turned and went back to the bottom and He wandered off into the laurel. Maybe 100 yards away my dad was sitting. Also on the ground. (Guess where this is going!) It was probably 20 mins after my encounter and my heart was down to about 250 beats per minute at this point, and I heard this voice. Sounded familiar. OH! It was my DAD! He was screaming! "BEAR YA! GET OUTTA HERE! GO!!!! GO ON!!!!! GET!!!!!!!" Then I heard a noise that can only be described as a bulldozer doing about 100 mph through the laurel. "YO BILLY BEAR COMING YOUR WAY!" Yeah thanks Dad! I heard more footsteps coming and I had had enough at this point. I thought the bear was coming back but It was my Dad with a big silly grin telling me the bear got to about 18 yards from him and as he was on the ground too he had enough and chased it. I showed him the track by me and where I was sitting and I wont type exactly what he said but it was something like "You're (insert adjective) CRAZY!" When I told him I thought it was a squirrel at first he laughed and was telling me I need to stop hunting if I didn't know the difference between a bear and a squirrel. That was nearly 30 years ago and we still joke about the time I thought a bear was a squirrel! By the way, I know the gentleman who killed that bear during bear season. It had a white V on its chest so we are 99% sure it was the same one. And it dressed at just over 550 pounds! So it WAS INDEED a big bear! WOW! I typed way too much, but if someone asks me for a huntin story, light a fire, and grab a beer. I got a bunch of stories in the last 32 years! Thanks for your video guys!
Great video my family had a great deer camp over the years the family drifted apart unfortunately. A few still get together most of us just left with the memories. Definitely miss being apart of that
Congratulations! I had a porcupine above my head on a stone wall once while l was spring gobbler hunting. Last time l had my back directly against a stone wall lol
Woah! That'd be enough to get me up off the ground in a hurry! Thankfully - contrary to popular belief - they cannot "shoot" their quills when threatened.
Very good .video. Good to see you put a lot of interest in the young man. I have been unable to hunt the last few years. Your Videos are great. I will continue to watch.
Seeing that tree stand you hunted with your dad brought a tear to my eye. This past deer season was my first without my father. I lost him in May to cancer and deer camp wasn’t the same. But then again I know he was watching over us probably with a can of Busch and a dip of Cope
Great video guys, as for a funny story, pulled into my spot for first day of WV archery, and realized I forgot my boots, so had to hunt in my flip flops I wore on the drive down
What beautiful Pennsylvania country you all hunt in. Enjoyed the video. I hunt in Marion County, WV. Killed my first big eight point last year after hunting forty plus years. I have taken other dear but not a big buck. Good luck in 2021.
Great video. Craziest thing I have ever happen to me is hunting on the family farm. I packed everything out the night before so all I had to do is grab my pack and gun and I would be good. The one thing I didn't realize was I forgot to pack my clip and ammo at home which was an hour away from the farm. I was lucky enough that my grandfather still used a 30-30 so I had ammo just had to do a single shot day.
I was sitting with my daughter( she was the hunter) watching about 7 does, when a shooter buck came out about 100 yds out,she took the shot an hit the buck,it ran all the way back to the stand and fell over about 10 yds from the door of the stand. I've been deer hunting since i was 10yrs old(i'm 64yrs old now)always been about family for us.We could only shoot does till we bought a adult license which was 16yrs old back then, those were the rules my family hunted by. Always look forward to ya'lls videos! Thanks Ernie
Awesome video ,Congratulations to little guy 2 years in a row Good job ! As for funny things that happened to me .I would have to say a few years back in Archery season i climb up in the stand it was a morning hunt dark out..standing there instant next thing I know something flutters in front of me ,lands on my chest ...I jumped strait up in the air, How I didnt tumble out of stand was luck ....as for what was , A flying squirrel...lol.....Hunting is a family tradition & this past year was my 40th season.....my first year was 1981 & I still hunt with my mentor ,my best hunting buddy ...My Dad !!
@@NCPAOutdoors We still talk about to this & Same to you guys ( p.s. in the beginning of the Video got laugh outof the bear shacking the tree / Camara...and my son is my hunting buddy too .. but college takes up his time .so enjoy the little fellow .before that begins .Enjoy yiur videos.
@@markbittner9721 Thanks Mark! Those bears kept messing with that camera all summer long ripping it off the tree, batting it back and forth when it was on a pole... whatever they could do to say, 'yeah... I see you too'
@@markbittner9721 We never took bear season too seriously until they started indulging in our apple trees and by indulging we really mean destroying so this year was a first for us... everyone had a bear tag in their pocket. (And by the way the seasons went, I think the bears knew it!)
Congrats. The first time I took my son deer hunting he had a doe 50 yards away pulled the trigger and forgot to take safety off. Click doe stands there takes safety off boom down goes deer. Great memory
In South Carolina when driving on all Game Management roads during hunting season, all firearms have to be unloaded and cased in the back seat or in the trunk of the vehicle. Also, handguns have to be unloaded. Once you arrive at your destination to hunt, you are allowed to load your long guns and sidearms when you are entering the woods to hunt.
This year while my 11 year old daughter and I were walking out of the woods and through the field I went knee deep into a ground hog hole and couldn't break my fall because I was holding the rifle. Needless to say she couldn't stop laughing at me for 2 days. I wasn't hurt but its something we get a full belly laugh about still.
Sacrificing a knee for the rifle is solid commitment to hunting! Were glad you healed up fast and hopefully your daughter continues to smile with the memory! Thank you for sharing.
Gentlemen I had been waiting for this to come out. Awesome footage as always. I love the fact that you refuse to throw away the wooden stump in that tree stand. So my story did not happen in the woods but at camp. About 25years ago on the early morning First day of Buck my dad was out front smoking a cigarette while we were getting ready. He was looking down towards the bridge. We had sleet and freezing rain the night before. As he stood there he noticed that the hemlock tree’s were against the power line and had started a small fire. Imagine seeing the Blossburg Fire Dept. arrive all dressed in blaze orange. Luckily my dad, grandpa, two uncles and myself were able to get out before East Creek was blocked and we could not get through. Do you guys ever see much activity from the State ground at the bottom of the hill? Congrats to all that were successful in harvesting this year.
@@NCPAOutdoors Our 90yr old uncle got a shot at a buck on the first day but did not connect. My dad and other uncle saw deer through the week mainly doe. I hunted Sat and Sunday out near Fallbrook and saw nothing. My season ended on the first Monday when I broke my ankle. Lesson learned, I will not pass up any legal buck anymore in Archery season.
@@coreysine3952 Sorry to hear about the ankle! Disappointing I imagine, that your uncle wasn't able to capitalize on that deer but I'm sure everyone was excited for him nonetheless. Even the misses are a great time in the woods!
In the late 70’s we were hunting on a ranch out in Llano Texas. On afternoon hunt my younger brother told dad that he wasn’t going to a stand, he was going to walk a fence line behind our hunting camp. While he was walking the fence a doe jumped up and he shot and rolled it the doe got up and ran into a pile of mesquite. Brother walked to the area where the doe ran into and doe jumped up and started running away towards the fence line. My brother follow the fence line and it stated getting dark so he turned around heading for camp. Just before dark three of us went out looking for him, when we caught up with coming back he told the story about him ✊ my down the doe. When we got back to that mesquite are we walked in with lights and found the doe he rolled earlier. We laughed our butts off when he said “ Damn I was trailing a healthy doe!” That trip was his second deer trip. My brother passed away 11 years ago from a stroke. Sure do miss him.
Hey guys! First let me say I love what you guys are doing! Great videos all around with helpful info to us outdoorsmen. Honestly the craziest thing that has happened to me and the group of guys I hunt with actually happened this rifle season. A good friend of mine shot a beautiful buck opening day only to have another hunter and his son claim it. The buck clearly only had one bullet hole and I had heard all the shots from where I had been sitting and only one shot was a hit, being the first shot. It’s unfortunate this type of stuff happens on public land but we as passionate outdoorsman Congratulated the hunter and his son and pursued to find more deer. To us it not always about the kill but about the time spent in the woods together. That’s what rifle season means to us.
"Crazy stories, from the WOODS"? More than my Carpal Tunnel would let me type!! Funniest- its 2005, and my son's Very First Season in WV. Hunting out of my Cousin's Stand. About 5 minutes till Day Light, Opening Morning. No wind, quiet, and from over the hill...Grunt..Grunt...then hear what sounds like a bunch of deer, dragging a rake...LOUD, still every bit of 400yrds away! "Son, that s a Buck chasing, right towards us, get ready!" "Ok, Dad!". They get about to the top of the hill in front of us, right at good light. They are in the field edge...but still hauling right to us. The tension/ anticipation was getting intense! "Ty, there he his!" There is a roll coming of the Flat, where stand sits and he was just coming into the field at bottom of this roll. There is only room for one chair, so I am standing. "Tyler? you see him? Hes right there?" "DAD, I cant see him!" WHAT...oh shoot...he is setting down. "Stand up real slow.." the chair squeaked...and he locked up, then after an ETERNITY started moving to our left. The "roll" is fairly steep in that direction. "I can see his antlers, but not the deer." "Well if he follows where the Doe went, he will come up the hill right beside us!" This is when he stalls hangs up again, RIGHT THERE 30 yards away....felt like an hour...every loose board in that stand, is making noise...."Buck Fever" like a Tent in a hurricane.. lol I was getting worried about him, shaking the stand out of the tree. BUCK WAS HUGE- 10 point and TALL. Naturally, the buck didnt follow his doe, instead taking a "Cut Off" route. He saw the whole deer only as it jumped the fence. Stand was shaking 15 minutes later...I was so disappointed he didnt get him. "Dang Son, that was exciting! Wish we could have got him!" "Dad, why didnt you pick up your gun, and shoot him?" FACE PALM...NEVER EVEN CROSSED MY MIND lol Riffle still leaned up on the wall...."I thought you were gonna shake us out of the tree!" "Huh? I am not shaking..see?" Calm as a feller could be...."Wish your Riffle hadnt got rattled loose, from where you leaned it. Did you hear the noise it made? Thats what stopped him I think?" "THAT was you, standing up!" "NOPE...we oiled the spring remember?" Proceeds to hop up and down repeatedly...not a peep. I finally look at my Riffle...the Front sight is now, the only reason it didnt fall to the floor! I felt like my FATHER...a feeling I swore I would never copy! "Eh, its just a squirrel!" , stands up, and 5 deer run off...MY FIRST SEASON 1982 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Now for the last 16 years..."Dad! is the stand still in the tree?" If I miss.."Dad! Did you shake your Scope loose?" Guess I earned it? 🤣🤣🤣 Dang kids!!!
My father showed me how to hunt when he passed away I lost my hunting buddy. 3 years ago I shot a doe tracked it and my two nephews said they would drag it. I let them as I was in front showing them the easy way out I stepped in a swap that was covered in snow knee deep in mud. I brother hurried and grabbed both my nephews to stop as they were laughing cause I was stuck. They took the deer drags out and put them on me and started pulling. I yelled for them to stop cause I almost lost my muck boot so I grabbed the top of it and told them to pull. I told them see it’s a lesson always be careful where you step. When I got out all we did was laugh and enjoy the rest of the day one of the best moments I have with my brother and nephews
The easy part is pulling the trigger. After that happens the work begins and it sounds like you worked hard for that deer, even if you didn’t have to drag it! Thanks for sharing.
I have watched this to You and the boy going in for breakfast after the great turkey video , the different sounds aren't heard by many young hunters , so the audio was great . Too bad You didn't pack in some hot chocolate and sandwiches along with some great coffee , and you probably would have shot that buck and doe that came through about noon . Could have looked great on the wall . With 2 days left to hunt , wouldn't have hurt to stay all day . You might have even bumped a couple on the way out or when you came back in ...good hunting ... I taught my boys that they only got out of anything only what they put into it that's what counts , hunting is hard ,enjoyable work . It does take some labor and effort . Depends on what a guy wants , don't you agree ?
My brother hunts with me every year. Last season I was giving him a hard time about not shooting a deer. He had passed up several but was being picky. Well at my insistence he hunted the food plot and said he would shoot a doe, but wanted to use his crossbow instead of a rifle. That evening at last light he shot a doe, one but said it sounded like a gut shot. We found no blood or sign of a hit. coming back in the morning we found his deer about 45 yards away, the shot was far back, but quartered into the lungs. When we walked up her, we discovered his doe was actually a pretty good 10 point, LOL.
Craziest story during hunting. My father and I hunted a neighbor's property. I was 11 way back in 1993 and it was my first year to join dad hunting couldn't carry a gun then. Opening morning dad shot a small buck however he forgot his hunting knife in the truck In our excitement to get in the woods. So my dad said stay with the deer and I'll walk to the property owner's wife who hunted about 300 yds away. He no sooner left than I look up and there stood a huge 8 pt. Just staring at me it seemed almost fake. So in my 11 year old excitement I started yelling to my dad and running after him. I finally caught him and told him what I saw he said no way the buck is still there with all that noise. But he looked through his scope in that direction and sure enough there it stood. So we hurried to get Jenny ( property owner's wife) and she was using her dad's open sight .32 special and was 70 plus years old and couldn't see the deer. She was afraid to use my dad's 30.06 so we carefully walked the 300 yds to where dads deer lay and sure enough the 8 pt was still there just watching. Jenny fired about 100 yd shot open sights at over 70 yrs old and shot right under. Dad said hold higher and she did and boom! The deer went down! The biggest buck of her life. Still crazy just thinking about. Love the videos keep them up!
its family tradition for me I lost my dad in 2014 and when I go out I know he is looking down on me and one year I went out deer hunting with my dad and we were leaving at 3am and I got all the way out to the woods realizing I forgot my boots at the house
I watched an enjoyed the whole video, thanks guys for sharing , my favorite pass time is to do just that , watch others deer camps , we have good deer hunting in NC but the deer camp thing died quite a few years ago , much of our state is in small parcels like , three acres , so mostly here guys have to hunt where they can and without any moving around ,,on our game lands they leave them open all year and when deer season comes in they lock them up with gates and they do it several miles from where the boundary is , so you have to walk miles in steep terrain just to get to the state land , with all this said there is no use for me to go anywhere , I feed 20 plus deer a day in my yard and here that is legal and hunting bait is legal , and it has been over fifty years and this state has not had one confirmed case of CWD
Hi Bobby- thanks for watching! The PA Game Commission has been attempting to keep CWD controlled here, but it is a disease that has serious consequences if those efforts go unchecked. In prior years it was contained to deer farms. But it seems like we continue to face new reports of cases in the wild. We are hopeful that targeted control measures will eradicate this dangerous disease.
@@NCPAOutdoors we only had one game farm here in NC and it was ten miles from my home ,,jerry rushing the father of the dukes of hazard owned one here of several thousand acres , but they almost lived as wild deer ,,,now he has passed away and his only child a daughter was shot and killed by her boyfriend and so the farm is no more ,,we have had other issues with our deer herd like black foot, but not one confirmed case of CWD ,,,every one here feeds deer , even people like me that never hunt them around bait.
this past season i forgot to put a bullet in my inline and had a doe come out at 30 yards well when time was right i let it rip and the pryo dex pellets hit her when it went off and she just stood there and looked at me lol
for me my dad passed away in 2014 and my uncle who is his brother and I go to new york state to hunt gun season in memory of my dad who passed away at the age of 58
I was late to my own wedding. Wife wanted a fall wedding. But fell in deer season. So long story short, made a bad crossbow shot on a non typical 10 point. Didn't get it loaded till 1:30.. Photos at church at 2:00. Ceremony at 4:00. Got there at 3:48. Been married almost 11 years now with 2 daughters. The deer head is on the wall.
I like your videos guys but when you said about the temp having to do with the rut I don’t think that’s true. The rut is the same time every year regardless of weather, it’s just whether or not you’re seeing any rutting activity. Doe’s will still be hot in 70 degree weather but you’re less likely to see bucks chasing at that temp.
I went wild hog hunting and I only had one .22 rife shell with me and the rest of the shells were in my jeep. The good news was all I needed was 1 shell and I hit the hog between the eyes and drop it in the tracks and 3 days later I feed 12 people that are my nabors . The reason why I did not go back to my jeep to have more ammo with me is because I am disabled and it would have been tomuch walking for me . I injoy your deer hunting shows . When I was a small boy , I got too go hunting with my gratgrdandfath he was not able to walk that well because of his age so I walked down in the ditch and he was up above in his car with the windows down so when the rabbit ran out he would get it . I have his gun now and back then I had a b.b. gun just like most kids back in the days did when they started hunting with there grandparents and gratgrdandfath. The good old days . Thanks again . From Okeechobee, Florida
Hi Nate.. to be honest, I'm not sure what the style or name is... pretty sure I got it, though, at Gander Mountain a decade or two back and haven't seen them anywhere since.
I had to swim in 43 degree weather for a deer that was harvested and took the "death run" my father killed that ran strait into a pond. . I set a change of clothes next to him and I got butt naked and swam and got the deer. I told him when I get out the process is this. One, hand me the towel. Two, start giving me the dry clothes I laid out. He gave me the towel then started handing me dry clothes. He was worried about my well being but I had everything covered in regards to safety. Cold swim but is and was worth it. Great bow kill and a story that will last forever. The deer went to Hunters for the Hungry so we fed a lot of people.
Great story, Teague! We sympathize with your swim... same thing happened to our dad many years ago harvesting a doe. Thankfully he didn't have to dive in though.
was setting in my stand one morning and i kept hearing fluttering sounds at the windows my gun was laying with the barrel sticking out the window i heard close to my face i looke and there was a screech owl sitting on my gun barrel about a foot from my face
I think my craziest hunting story was a few years ago I was 21 years old my first time hunting the southern zone in NY. A mature doe came walking by me, I shot her and she dropped. Walked up to her and an 8 point is about 10 yards away from me following her trail. Shot and dropped him. Thanks for the video it was a great one.
I was doing a late season hunt. I went to shoot this deer and half of it head was behind a bush, and it looked like a doe cause I didn’t see any horns. When I shot it got up and ran, and that when I saw it had a single horn. When it fell and hit it head on a rock the horn popped clean of it head. Both my grandpa and I were standing there jaws dropped. That is by far the best camp story I have.
Memories made with family, especially your grandparents. My love for the outdoors was fostered by my father, my grandfather and my uncle. Thanks for sharing.
I was at deer camp one year with my dad and uncle the day before opener deer gun season in new york and my uncle had 20 gauge slugs for his 12 gauge Remington 11-87 so they had to run to get 12 gauge slugs for him
Even though we have increased our efforts to cover the property, only the trail cameras and a few young apple trees had close encounters with a bear. Next season!
My first year bow hunting in 18 years and I buy a brand new compound bow …. It was released 3 months prior to me buying it !! Jump ahead after having it set up and shooting it a lot at 20-30 yards !! First day got out late for evening hunt and sat down in my branch and stick blind and 30-35 minutes after sitting 3 beautiful doe come out and my Philosophy is “If it’s brown it’s down I don’t hunt horns I hunt meat”!! I ranged the biggest at 23yards draw back pin on her I bleat she stops at 3 I released I see her jump and ran I’m shaking thinking I hit her it never got close I didn’t realize the arrow didn’t go but 12 yards !! Not sure why went back home shoot my bow again only flew 10-12 yards !! Unbeknownst to me my best friend brother in law didn’t like that I was shooting better than him 3 days prior to opening day and when I and my best friend went to retrieve our arrows he took his Allen wrench and turned down my draw weight on my bow later check told me it was at 42 pounds my mechanical broad heads are rated no less than 55# draw. After telling my friend about it and him telling his bro in law he laughed and told him that I guess he won’t show off shooting again!! We met to hunt a family members private land and he gets out of the truck laughing and I told him that was so childish of him that he was no long allowed nor welcome to hunt land with me !! ODNR Warden had to be called to have him removed from the land we were hunting and I told him a joke is a joke but him messing with my equipment was uncalled for and disrespectful!! A week later he was arrested for putting down a deer with a pistol after he shot it in the spine with and arrow all seen by a warden !! He lost all his equipment, hunting privileges in Ohio for 7years along with restitution amounting to $3200 neither of us have heard from or seen him in the last 12 years and like I said my best friend is married to his sister !! Guess Karma sends you into hiding !!
Ha! Crappy day for the chip...
When the gang got together a week later to butcher the bucks we had harvested, we all gave him a “10” for his backwards dive off the log! 😃

@@NCPAOutdoors Man that had to be frustrating with the upload issues...I can't take it, Im watching now and turning off the super bowl..
Darn bears are quite destructive when curious. Maybe he thought the trail cam was a mini box of cereal. I had a great hunting year in 2020 myself. Your videos are well done and entertaining. Good luck in future.
Thanks, Peter, and congrats on your success too! One of these days we're going to even the score with these bears...
Really enjoy the videos. Thank you for sharing. Honestly there's nothing better than Deer Camp.
Thanks Paul!!
GREAT VIDEO I WATCHED IT TWO TIMES. IT ALL ABOUT FAMILY. GREAT YOUNG MAN.
THANK YOU .
Thanks, Tom, glad you enjoyed it!
Just like you guys, it's all about building the memories with family and friends. Nice video!👍
Thanks Belinda Horn. We sure had a great time.
Most of the rest of the country doesn’t know that Pennsylvania didn’t allow hunting on Sunday!, 2020 it finally allowed Sunday hunting! Nice video
Thanks David
Great story William, gotta love those first deer stories!!
Those are the days when you see the biggest buck of your life! Thanks for sharing!
That's good to hear keep making your videos I love them our got two bucks this year one doe 2021
That's timeless JBT! fantastic story, thanks for sharing.
Great story!
Sometimes it’s the ones that walk away that you deny the most! Thanks for sharing.
STILL laughing about this one hours later!
yes a simple life is a good life wish I was there keep up the good work mate 🦃🦃🇱🇷🇱🇷

Thank goodness for common caliber ammunition (if you can find it for sale these days). Thanks for sharing.
Hi Ernie, It always a good hunt when the hunt ends with a deer dropping right at your stand. Even better if it’s an easy drag out of the woods!

Thanks! We're sure it's a hunt your son will never forget!

@@NCPAOutdoors i see you hunt in Tioga, i do as well
@@MrBigedg Awesome! Something special about the northern tier of the state. We may not have big deer but the expanse certainly is.
It's awesome. Thank you
In South Carolina when driving on all Game Management roads during hunting season, all firearms have to be unloaded and cased in the back seat or in the trunk of the vehicle.
Great video loved it can't wait to see next year 2021 video good job on your buck congratulations for your first doe
Thanks Bruce! Don't wish that time away though... it'll be here before you know it.
Hey Corey! How'd you guys make out this year? State ground usually seems pretty quiet
Lesson learned, I will not pass up any legal
buck anymore in Archery season.
Thanks for sharing, Terry
That’s an unfortunate end to an exciting experience. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations on your harvests,
Thanks Bobby
Congrats to the young man, love seeing thenext generation of hunters being successful
Thanks Steve
Haha! Awesome, thanks for sharing Adam!
Great video all the way through!!!!
Thanks Gary, glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing.
will you be doing a 2021 deer camp video?
Thanks Dakota!
Do more videos they are fun to watch.
We're on it Joe!
Going to have to stop putting those game cameras up with sticky fingers !!! Great vid!!!
hahaha, yeah, really! Thanks Cory!
Talk about a pleasant surprise. Nice! Thanks for sharing.
Wow! You guys should have played the lottery that day. Great story Primo!
That's the best part of hunting. Remembering those "crazy, unless you were there" moments!
its family tradition for me I lost my dad in 2014 and when I go out I know he is looking down on me and one year I went out deer hunting with my dad and we were leaving at 3am and I got all the way out to the woods realizing I forgot my boots at the house
They're always with us for sure, especially when the winds are still and you find yourself at a special location in the woods.
Lesson learned and likely not to be repeated again, haha!

Non typical? Awesome! Yeah, definitely a keeper!! The wife that is. Ha!
When did they start allowing you to hunt deer on Sunday in PA? Am I crazy or where you not allowed to do that until recently?
This past season was the first.
25:00 I love the story of the stand..
Miss your video's!!!!!!
Are you coming out with the 2021 deer season video?
Hope to be able to, but can't promise anything Brad.
Video coming for 2021 I hope
Hopefully Maria... hopefully!

No spring video this year turkey hunting ready for 2021 deer season a fall video
Hi Bruce! Unfortunately, there wasn't a spring turkey or fall video for '21. Long story.
