    great video. I plan on following your procedure. I think it is cute how you press down with the nail gun with all of your might with every nail as if that would make it tighter or stronger.

      A long way from all my might, but if I don't push down hard the nail head wouldn't set below the surface.

    This is a great design. I built 4 bases this weekend - very easy! Thank You for posting this video.

    What did you use for your lading board. Whats the size on that

    • @vendter
      @vendter  4 года назад

      It was a 4x4 that I cut on the diagonal. Other people have just cut a 2x4 on an angle.

    Can you share the measurements.? I have 8 frame hives and it's getting extremely expensive to buy equipment. I do not know how to do the dado
    Or edge with the table saw, but I can cut straight wood. My problem are the measurements, I just need a simple bottom board.
    Thank you

      +mezleona I give the measurements in the video.

    Vincent, I love what you did here but I do have one question. Your landing board is so much steeper than any I have seen before. I know the bees have no problem with climbing up it but is there some advantage in the steepness.

    • @vendter
      @vendter  6 лет назад

      I don't think it matters how steep, as long as the bees can walk up and it will shed rain.

    Do you have a cut sheet?

    • @vendter

      +John Biggs As in a set of drawings? No, you will have to take notes during the video.

    Great video.
    But the landing board imho is unnecessary.
    But, to each they're own😊

    • @vendter
      @vendter  6 лет назад +2

      The landing board is optional. I read a study that showed about 10% greater honey production with a landing board.

    Need to wear ear protection or move your compressor out from shop. Thanks for all good ideas!

      Look closer, I am wearing orange earplugs. My "Shop" is my back patio. If I move my compressor any farther it would be in my neighbor's back yard!

    Oil less aircompressors

  • @426superbee4

    Why would any one want to count mites? he heee sounds silly to me... I want em dead, so i use a SHB OIL TRAP What it is a screen bottom closed in with a door on the back to service a oil tray THEY WORK GR8 ! ITS THE BEST OUT THERE. Now free of SHB, WAX MOTHS, MITES and there LARVA

    • @vendter
      @vendter  7 лет назад

      SHB trap has nothing to do will mites. Small hive beetles are something completely different than mites. Where I live we don't have SHB. Too much clay soil. But we do have mites.

    • @426superbee4
      @426superbee4 7 лет назад

      Sure it does plays a big roll in mite control . Another is cut down the drone population. Another way for mite control, is lightly dust your bees with powder sugar. It get them licking each other and pulling mite off. and drowns in the shb oil trap DON'T YOU KNOW THAT? guess not

    • @vendter
      @vendter  7 лет назад

      Several studies have shown that powdered sugar dusting has no measurable effect on mites. It sounds like it should work, but the proof is in the pudding.

    • @426superbee4
      @426superbee4 7 лет назад

      OMG YES there no effects on mites using powder sugar, , But the bees licks the powder sugar off one another, and pull the mites off each other, and they fall into the shb oil trap. its also a treat for the honey bees IT WORKS! MITES TARGET DRONES Ok there the ones that bring mites into the hives, Keep the drone population down keeps mites down as well THOSE ARE THE BEST 2 WAYS 3rd is chemicals in a fogger, I'AM NOT USING CHEMICAL IN SOME THING I EAT AND SELL besides i have no mite problems my bees are to hyper active to get mites THERE hybrids only weaker strain like feral honey bees get mites THE ONLY REALLY 2 STRAINS OF HONEY BEES ARE A HONEY MAKING MACHINE (1 ) IS AHB ( 2 ) is HYBRIDS rest sucks
