Federer has Djokovic trapped!

  • Roger Federer's favorite play is called "The Swiss Watch."
The play starts when Federer hits a backhand slice cross court to pull Djokovic forward. From here, it's difficult for Djokovic to attack down the line, you've got the higher part of the net and smaller part of the court to hit into.
So Djokovic is going to play back cross court, and Federer is anticipating this, so he's able to move around his backhand and upgrade to a forehand.
From here, Djokovic is out of position. He's inside the court and has to defend against both the inside-out and inside-in forehands, putting Federer in the driver's seat.
Try this strategy in your game and let me know how it goes in the comments!

He ran that play for decades. At first, players would slice it back and Fed would just hit the inside in for a winner every time. Over time, players have tried to neutralize by slicing down the line but Fed just hits the running crosscourt winner. It's such a deadly play and given how well he slices the ball, it just works every time, like clockwork. I have talked about this play in other comments over the years and ppl always have argued with me about it not being a real play. Thanks for confirming my observations. One of your best videos.

When he was able to, why do you think he didn't do this return of serve every time?

I believe Barty used same or similar strategies and beat players who have extreme grip.

Ironically, Djokovic is the least opponent against whom is this tactic effective on grass as he won three Wimbledon matches and Federer only one in their encounters.

All good! Novak's favourite play will always be 15-40 on match points in the semi-finals and finals of grand slams! Happened three times, three freaking times! Muhahahah you can't make this shit up even if you tried...

Nole's favorite play was taking medical timeouts, retiring early when he's losing, etc, so that he doesn't lose the game normally. Mental GIANT!

@@DungxxHenhave seen this guy's comments before. He had to resort to meaningless stats like PD (Point Dominance) to lie to himself that Federer is somehow better.
Even then his idol is only 0.1% better (if I remembered correctly and his stats are correct).
Even more pathetic than Nadal' fans clinging on to the gold medal and crying why there's only 1 clay slam (and many excuses).
