Jennifer Holliday is one of my favorite singers of all time. Her voice and range is simply staggering. The first time I ever heard her was in January 1982 on Saturday Night Live where she was the musical guest. She had me hooked immediately. She played Effie in the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls" which featured her singing "And I'm Telling You". This lady gives me goosebumps every time I hear her sing. This rendition of "His Eye is on the Sparrow" was from an HBO special and is an incredible performance. What a talented and underappreciated voice.
This is Jennifer Holiday at her absolute best. No wonder she was chosen to sing Aretha Franklin out of the church to her final resting place....she's the only one who could have done it.

She played Effie in the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls" which featured her singing "And I'm Telling You". This lady gives me goosebumps every time I hear her sing. This rendition of "His Eye is on the Sparrow" was from an HBO special and is an incredible performance. What a talented and underappreciated voice.
This is Jennifer Holiday at her absolute best. No wonder she was chosen to sing Aretha Franklin out of the church to her final resting place....she's the only one who could have done it.
