I too got super excited for this set and because of Mr. Triton. I didn’t love his first two iterations from the Disney Store but this one is soooooo beautifully done. I am always so happy when they make other characters from the Disney films. Like I ran when they released the set with Dolores from Encanto and she is my fav Madrigal member. And I recently got my holy grail Cinderella Stepsisters Disney Store dolls which look amazing. (I currently have them displayed drinking mini Starbucks cups watching Cinderella dancing with her Prince- I imagine they are gossiping so hard about them 🤣) Thank you for the review - I definitely can’t wait to bring King Triton home 😄😄😄
I love the face of the Ursula doll (wow!), Ariel's dress, and of course, King Triton! Great dolls! I wish Ursula and Triton had better bodies, too. Fun video!
Disney Store re-used the old 2016 limited edition King Triton body, that had the articulated wrists, and elbows. They just downgraded him, and made him more playline by swapping out the rooted beard, and rooted long hair with a plastic molded on beard, and plastic hair. They downgraded the tail by removing his scales and the wire that made his tail poseable. The pillow fin with embroidery was replaced with a more simple fabric fin. They also reused the old LE wrist cuffs, and triton, but they didn't bother painting them. The only thing new here is his new smiling face mold, which is nice since the old one looked like he was angry. I wish they gave Ursula some love. They have not one, but TWO limited edition body and face molds they could have used for this set.
Ursula deserves maybe not a whole collector doll again but maybe like the caliber of those $50 holiday dolls like an elevated playline deluxe look. And yeah once I started comparing the two articulated Tritons I noticed quite a few similarities. Which is great.
The disney store is usually pretty great with quality. I got a Moana doll and she's beautiful, hair & face perfect. The clothing is on the cheaper side(still not bad) but that seems to be unavoidable with play line dolls
I think Disney ILY forever dolls are Jakks Pacific but it’s weird cause the Disney store ones are different from the ones in the shelves at Target haha idk.
It’s about time we got a better Ursula. The great villains line is amazing! This Triton is massively let down by those wrist things that are not accurate to the movie and then the triton itself isn’t accurate either or the tail! So I’m a bit meh about it
I wish they’d stop making the bottom half of Ursula a bean bag and same with King Triton but wow what a great sculpt for him! I don’t really like the way the purple/silver dress is on Ariel, I mean it’s nice to have the dress but it just doesn’t fit on her the way it does in the movie.
I'm still getting the Barbie set over the Ariel set. I like Ariel and most Disney Princesses, but my heart belongs to Barbie (and that Ryan Gosling Ken).
