  • We spent a lot of time trying to figure out which is better, Flexiteek G2 synthetic decking Vs real teak. We bit the bullet and have a full installation and review for you!
    We are getting FlexiTeek put on in the cockpit and swim step and we will talk about why decided to go with this particular marine flooring and the process it took to get it done over the four days it took to apply it. We will also talk about the different color options they have and what we decided on.
    We had Eric with oceanboatworks.com come out and do the template and installation. For the installation we took the boat over to Port Ludlow Marina and Resort which was much closer to his business which is located in Port Townsend.

    Hello and thank you for posting about your new Flexiteek deck on Elli Yacht. We love the look of it in our bleached colour option. Great choice for a beautiful boat. Thank you for all your lovely comments about Flexiteek. It is very much appreciated. Best wishes, The Flexiteek team (Steve Moore - Global Marketing Manager).

    I'm just learning about my top screwed teak. Possibly original '78.

    Looks sharp and should last quite a while! I love that y'all all all about doing things 'right' - that's a pretty rare thing nowadays. Keep up the great educational videos!

    Seven years ago I went with PlasDeck, simple maintenance & great look. I wish I would have listened to the installer and went with the lighter color, my choice was way hot in the sunlight.

    Also I did the flexi-teak on my boat in the cockpit and swim step. It was pretty warm in the Bahamas but not really any warmer than real teak. If you get a stain you cant clean- then lightly sand it.

    Just to let you know we just confirmed our bow thruster repair with David Kraft and expect to have it done in the next month or so. Thanks so much for sharing that experience with us.

    That looks absolutely eye-catchingly brilliant and will add to the value of Elli-Yacht. You picked the top-of-the-line synthetic teak, and you will never regret doing it right and well. I do really like the black caulking look and at some pointe would like to replace the current white caulking for black on my yacht. Have a great week u2!

      Thank you Phil! We always look forward to hearing your thoughts. We struggled with the caulk color and even considered grey since it’s a bit more contemporary but, classic black won out.

    That looks amazing! New subscriber here. I'm considering synthetic teak for the deck on my Trophy 2102, and this really helped. I'm up in Bellingham, so not too far away! Maybe we'll see you guys in the islands. Cheers!

      Glad this helped! It’s tough finding info out there on synthetic teak… we look forward to seeing you on the water!

    Looks beautiful, I’m anxious to hear how easy it is to clean a deck brush. Thank you for the video.

      I just did that today. I was surprised it cleaned as easily against the grain in tight corners as well as with the grain in the main field.

    That close-up shot where you were sanding the white caulking off, looked like real teak. We have come such a long way since I recall the first synthetics.

    Were there any issues reseating any of the latches or other hardware with the extra width of the flexiteek?

    We have the same system and same color. Still looks great after 6 years! You can also clean with a SS grill brush........

    Looks great. I've been getting a variety of synthetic samples trying to figure out what to do and who to do it. I'd like DIY, but I'm concerned about not doing it well. A fellow Navigator owner got real teak and holly done at Baja Naval, and he loves his results.

    When did you get the new dink? I just bought a highfield sport 390 for our boat- which one did you get? How do you like it?

    • @ElliYacht1
      @ElliYacht1  Год назад +1

      We went with the 360. I would have much preferred the 380 with the 60hp but, it was jut to long for our beam.

    I've heard some stories about Flexiteek not lasting a year for boats in Florida... as I'm looking into our options, I came across your video. How would you say it is holding up after 6 months?

    • @ElliYacht1
      @ElliYacht1  Год назад

      It still looks beautiful and is holding up great! In Washington state we don’t get the same heat as you do in Florida but it doesn’t get hot on your feet 👍

    Considering how hard PVC can be made, why can't they make a less floppy, harder more teak-like product?
