It is wise to not go above 60% humidity and I tend to try and keep mine at 55% when dealing with a humidifier. Not because your orchids won't like higher humidity. But because if you've had black mold in the past, it is especially prone to coming back and it can cause major major healthy issues. I know first hand and it actually made me and my fiance at the time go a little crazy and become quite emotionally unbalanced. Black mold and most molds in general cannot live in less than 60% humidity. But it can lay dormant for years waiting for ideal conditions. Really liked your video and your straight to the point style of things! -L
Hi there! 🎉 yes when it comes to phalaenopsis is is really true...I happened to place the humidifier too close to my supermarket big phalaenopsis in semi hydro... 2 weeks later 2 of them had caught crown rot..or atleast both their middle leaf had rotted off. I should yave korn but I uusy forgot about their presence while I was focusing on the ceiling not to get another round of black mould on it.😂 loads of things to take into consideration whilst dealing with orchids.
I went to Hornbach today, they seemed to have the same orchids (and the same prize) there...nothing special. I thought, thrips like the blue sticky trap more. Here you can get the yellow trap in a drugstore much cheaper. (Your dog is always thirsty when you are filming...) Happy growing 🌼🌸🌺
@@yvonnela4979 hi there! I was surprised how expensive a piece of paper and some glue actually could be... at one of our common gardencenter here they wanted 3 4 euro for 6 small stickers for pots... at Hornbach 7,75 euro for 10 stickers.. so amazon was a lot cheaper! U got 60 for 7 euro! But a bit tooooo large by my opinion. I will check out the blue ones on amazon too.. I don't know why he always does that.. start drinking while I'm filming. Maybe its somekind of a displacement activity? "Moms up to something serious now thing"? Well thank's for watching 🥰
Thanks for another informative video. I love the tip of the bleach bath, so simple, yet effective. I do wish I could get my hands on some Orange Oil. When I searched it in Australia, I kept getting directed to neem oil as well as other pesticides, which is not what I want, I already have a cupboard full of them. I also tried Amazon, same result. I can't remember whether I already told you all this so please excuse me if I'm repeating myself. Cheers.
@@renatecormick7399 hi there! Wanna know a secret? The currlin webshop stopped selling it now which problably means that there will be no more for me either after my 2nd bottle is finished.. but as I searced anazon.com I found a brand called 'Purivita' Orange oil. Might work just as well. Thank's soooo much for beeing here, its always very appersuated 💖
@@KarinsOrchids I checked the Amazon Australian website but that brand of oil is not available. There are mostly oils for diffusers in small dropper bottles. I found one that said "cold pressed" essential oil, 100ml bottle, not sure whether that would work for plants though. Thanks anyway Karin, I'll keep searching.
@@renatecormick7399 I'm also searching now...The content of the 'real' package from Currlin nursery's content seems to be orange oil, lemon and alcohol. Not easy to read as its in german. I will try to buy 100% pure orange oil kn the future when both of my original packages are finished , and mix it up with perhaps linseed oil soap ( I have 1 liter still of that stuff), water, and the orange oil maybe a deop of alcohol ..just maybe. 😀
Enjoyed your vido karin .thanks for sharing
@@tomherbert6792 Thank's T! 😍
Thank you for another great video! I may try the bleach treatment myself!
Thank you! Yes, its not so bad. I think it works well for the roots as well.
Thanks Karin
@@tess.campbell You're very very welcome! Glad you wanted to watch this one 💗
