In the past indian poltical leadership has let down the forces. Great sacrifice of our brave warriors was lost on table. 1965 we went upto Lahore but returned all area captured in pakistan. In 1971 we should have asked bangladesh to become under our control and follow our costitution or at least before releasing 93000 POWS we should have forced to hand over pok in return. In 1999 during Kargil war we stopped when we were winning same way as in 1947 we stopped in JK when we were winning.
But keep in mind that was different time, we were not the same india which we are today , world was in the peak of cold war , it was unfortunate as we had to come back from lahore but still india had balls to cross LOC and if you think why india cross loc then you might understand that main goal was to release pressure from j&k by opening border in punjab we forced pak to bring their forces back in pak punjab from j&k , army look at it differently they achieved their goal eventho at that time pak had better fighting machines , it’s not easy to go to wars we cannot take credit back from Indian government of that time, according to those times india did very well.
